Mean Girls is a great movie but this one is much more hardcore. Interesting fact for those who don't know, Heathers was written by Daniel Waters (Batman Returns, Demolition Man) and Mean Girls was directed by his younger brother Mark Waters. The two films were compared quite a lot on Mean Girl's release. I love Mean Girls but Heathers is infinitely better!

Comparing "Heathers" to "Mean Girls" would be like comparing a Long Island Iced Tea to a can of O'Douls. That movie had NOTHING on this one! 2004 is when the Uber-P.C. era had already kicked in...stuff you got away with in the 80's can't be done anymore. Heathers spoke out about the flock mentality and cliques, and how hellish high school was/is for many. Not to mention psychotic young lovers...Though in spite of that, Christian Slater was the fucking hottest in this movie than any of his works!

I just read on an 80's website not too long ago that Kim Walker, who played Heather Chandler in this movie, died in 2001. She had a brain tumor and passed away at the age of 32.
