@namenotfoundbass thanks man - i've got fairly narrow shoulders so will that put me at a disadvantage (i understand that strength is exempt from this)?
@TheOrientalWizard i don't think it is a disadvantage but you have to work on it, to increase your power and your muscles, that will result in a development of your shoulders width. But always keep in mind that power is nothing without flexibility in javelin throw. (I hope i answered to your question, cause i'm not anglophone and i have trouble with english vocabulary in sport sector)
Javelins are thrown in a way that the human body really isn't "designed" for. Needs shoulder flexibility, should joint strength as well as strong back, shoulder and underarm muscles.
@muskie1976 you mention only large nations with large population. low and unfair comparison. Imagine if Northern Europe had become a country such as Canada. Then you would not be so cocky. Just Little Norway with just 4.5 million inhabitants has twice as many Winter Olympic Games Medals Than "the great winter sports nation it self" Canada. Imagine all those country combined.
I'm a college quarterback who cannot play anymore due to concussions. I can throw a college football 70 yards. Does this translate very well into javelin competition?
@jacetrackster The high of which he is throwing off, his arm is not stretched firm and probably alot of other things. Tero is a real speed and explosive thrower.
To avoid injuries he tried to change his technique last year, that's why he ain't throwing that great last season, he has to get used to other techniques.
Still I'm not saying that he got bad technique, just not as good as Thorkildsen or Zelezny ;)
