  • hey guys im 14 and i threw 47 with an 700g javelin is it good?

  • hello

  • pildi si andreas

  • hey guys - is there a specific body type/build that javelin throwers tend to have?

  • @TheOrientalWizard well arms and back muscled, but shoulders very flex .

  • @namenotfoundbass thanks man - i've got fairly narrow shoulders so will that put me at a disadvantage (i understand that strength is exempt from this)?

  • @TheOrientalWizard i don't think it is a disadvantage but you have to work on it, to increase your power and your muscles, that will result in a development of your shoulders width. But always keep in mind that power is nothing without flexibility in javelin throw. (I hope i answered to your question, cause i'm not anglophone and i have trouble with english vocabulary in sport sector)

  • @TheOrientalWizard

Javelins are thrown in a way that the human body really isn't "designed" for. Needs shoulder flexibility, should joint strength as well as strong back, shoulder and underarm muscles.

  • Shao Kahn's favorite Olympic sport....

  • How did the guy in 0:32 know it's not gonna hit him?!

  • kamaki in greek means javelin!

  • damn how close can those judges get?

  • 0:26

  • that's sad for finland. canada and russia got hockey, the u.s. baseball and football,

england, spain, italy and most of s. america got soccer and finland got the great sport of throwing a stick.

  • @muskie1976

humans were throwing sticks long before we were kicking balls or hitting rubber things, thats for sure

  • @muskie1976 you mention only large nations with large population. low and unfair comparison. Imagine if Northern Europe had become a country such as Canada. Then you would not be so cocky. Just Little Norway with just 4.5 million inhabitants has twice as many Winter Olympic Games Medals Than "the great winter sports nation it self" Canada. Imagine all those country combined.

  • Finland is amazing on javelin. Sad that we dont have those in sweden. The best event in track and field in my opinion.

  • jaja me encanto la recuperación o inversión como quiera llamarle es un capo , aveces la técnica que no esta en los libro es la mejor!

  • I like it better when he hunts people with his javelin!

    youtube dot com /watch?v=WK0zGx9DmLg&feature=BF&list=QL&index=95

  • i throw jav and i throw 40.62 :P thats a 700 this is simply unqiue, lots of technique though

  • @19shazz89 Tero does not really has good technique

  • @santeenl what's bad about his technique?

  • @jacetrackster The high of which he is throwing off, his arm is not stretched firm and probably alot of other things. Tero is a real speed and explosive thrower.

To avoid injuries he tried to change his technique last year, that's why he ain't throwing that great last season, he has to get used to other techniques.

Still I'm not saying that he got bad technique, just not as good as Thorkildsen or Zelezny ;)

  • PERFECT!!!

  • how does tero throw his body like that, someone plzz tell me. im a developing javelin thrower. i love his technique, my favorite thrower.

  • Yes, Finland's national sport is pesäpallo, but the commentator didnt mean it like that, when he said that javelin throw is. I think he just ment something else with it, because there is worlds best throwers in Finland. For example, Seppo Räty, Aki Parviainen, and ofc my favorite Tero Pitkämäki :).

  • Tero '90' Pitkamäki is still the greatest.

  • nice try but Jan Zelezny still have the record

  • ghouldrackh on oikeessa

  • duuuuuuuuude thats like crazy far ;)

  • why at 0:09 the javelin looks like its 30cm?

  • @buddy39914 visual effect , ur seeing the front of it

  • woooow this guy is awesome.....

  • no the javeline is 1.200 kg thats the weight of olympic

  • does anyone know what type of javelin he threw? im assuming a 90 meter?

  • i belive they only go to 80

  • i threw 175 as a freshman in highschool last year...

  • youre very awesome

  • @rkerr5 umm, u sure it wasnt measured in feet, cause if u actually managed to get a 175m javelin throw, u almost much doubled the distance of this guy, which i highly doubt...

  • @sharpieman1 are you fucking dumb. the broadcaster says meters and the number on the field says 90 m

  • @XxAlfedxX you're fucking dumb cause i'm not talking about the video. I'm commenting about rkerr5's comment about throwing a 175 in highschool

  • @sharpieman1 ha yeah in feet.

  • 800 g

  • Ottasivat nuo ulkomaalaiset Mertarannasta oppia!

  • Comment removed

  • jack off

  • hyvä suomi!

  • @jurald7 Kyllä

  • guys can any1 teach me how to achieve the " pull " in javelin

  • what weight should my first javelin be?

    5''4 115lbs STARTER

i hav never thrown a javelin but i really want to get into this sport.

  • @MrPLOXPLOXPLOX 115lbs...? how old are you? you are preeeeetty light dude.. try your school's athletics club first? what country?different ages compete at different weights..

  • How old are you?

    A junior's javelin is the same weight as a women's javelin - 600g.

    The men's javelin is 800g.

Tom Petranoff has designed and made some decent plastic practice javelins. They are inexpensive and okay for learning how to throw. Good luck, it's pretty fun.

  • suomi=finland

  • lachy i hope your talking about feet cause i know your friend doesnt throw 74 meters at 15

  • well you better beleive it then coz he did.

  • Well I believe he did but with a junior javelin?

  • yeah 700g.

  • I have a feeling that someone will brake the Javelin World Record soon.

  • a javelin is a weapon!

  • lol, it is not national sport of finland...

  • actually the national sport of Finland is "Pesäpallo" and is a game similar to baseball :D

  • Javelin throw isnt the national sport of Finland...

  • i am 15 and i can throw it 8m =3

  • omg

  • whouaou :P

  • wat a beast.

i won district carnial and threw 25.60

    lol

  • i won district carnival for shot put. im 11 and i threw 16.47m :)

  • and it weighed 1kg

  • no it actually weighed 3kg...

  • sorry, but after seeing one of your videos(and seeing you) i must say that i don't believe it. Your'e too small, and your not eneogh masculine. Plus your youtube page doesn't say anything about shot put or track and field. Are you sure it's not supposed to be 6,47 meters?

  • no it was meant to me be 13.47m lol

  • was it meant to be 6,47?

  • incredible...

  • Tero was sick in berling and thats why he failed

  • yea, it will be fun to watch when both thorkildsen and pitkämäki are healthy.

  • @oomagaad1 is berlin you stupid!!

  • @hurrle3600 Typo bro.

  • Tero on kurko.

  • pitkämäki would have won if he was healthy. he nearly threw up in that final and was close to faint

  • yes 4/12 were finns but still no medals, its embarrassing but still that tells alot if 4 finns made it to final

  • norway won today !!!! norway rules in javelin throw, and andreas thorkildsen is the best in the world.

  • haha he sucks. tero pitkämäki threw over 91 and Jan zelesny threw like 98. so stfu

  • he just won the world championship, over 3 finnish men in the final, so no, he doesent suck.

  • and he is the first who has ever won the olympics, europe championship, and the world championship, so he is the best.

  • i like him as a sportsman....too bad he did only 5 th today:(

  • who?, i was talking about andreas thorkildsen, and he won.

  • ok I spoke about Tero Pitkamaki, because this video is referring on him...

  • ok, he is an good sportsman.

  • a good* :) hehe

  • Norway rules in javelin throw?? better if you say andreas thorkildsen rule... Fins had 4 competitor in final...

  • and still, they didnt make the top 3

  • its over 9.... THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND

  • this throw was so powerfull.....great job....

  • PESÄPALLO and that is?

  • eskQ2 - Pesäpallo is a variant of American baseball. Just look it up.

  • Baseball-like

  • @Ghouldrackh

Commentator sucks,no feeling,Antero Mertana is the best!

  • jep jep

  • pesäpallo oikeestaan

  • miks sidir ei ollu ottamassa koppia?

  • did i hear right :D did he said this is the national sport of finland???? :D what a dumbass our national sport is the ''older'' way of Baseball called PESÄPALLO!!!! -.-

  • Damn... Think about it! 90 meters with some almost 1kg object.. Thats SICK... o.o

  • I'm from Finland

  • My brother threw javelin with Tero in the same competition when they were kids :) Tero was already then outstanding and threw many times longer than the other boys

  • Fuck it to be pro in football fuck the money THROW 90 METERS WITH 800g :D I would love it :D

  • 5 stars!

  • I'd like to see the picures the camera man in front of the winners in athelete track games

(and why not camera women in athelete

    track games?)

  • shit i only throw 18 metres and im 12!!!...

  • it's hard to fall without losing distance

  • his timing is absolutely incredible. he has potential to be one of the best but zelezny still wins hands down

  • his ankle bent

  • -Tell me please what is the distance??

    -IT'S OVER 9000!!!!

  • lol 48 meters with a tooth pick is badass good x')

but i know what ya mean ^^'

  • 48 meter is bull, im year 10 and my pb this season has been 53, i throw 48 when im on good form, besides, year 8 javelin would be 600grams, oplympic is 800, my weight is 700.

  • i just started javelin this year and have only been throwing for 3 months. My personal best is 173." i use an 800 gram nordic.

  • My PR after 2 months of training is 43.37 meters (142' 3" imperial) w. an 800 and i'm 15 so its not completely unrealistic. Of course my coach is former Olympian Fred Luke. lol.

  • wrong 43m is 129 feet lol and 142'3 is 47m

  • No 43m is 141 feet and 142'3 is 43.33m

  • yeah your definately an idiot. check your math next time. the conversion from m to feet is by multiplying by 3.28.

  • dude, shut up, noone cares

  • lmao u realise the javelins in year 8 weigh nothing compared to the javelins they use in the olympics. u never got 48 metres :)

  • frickin strong man wtf! um... my farthest was 15m? haha weak

  • man thats sick the most i can get is 37meters

  • Thats not much.. Think about it.

  • rofl he's so good at it

  • aww fucking well done !!!

  • so u think ur the best now ?

  • he's disproportionately strong. definately in the right sport

  • Good yes

  • LUI E' UN FIGOOOO...! XD

    Troppo bravo...

  • This is SPARTA!!!

  • No that was FINLAND

  • theres this kid i know who when he was a freshman, he threw a javelin through someones leg. lol

  • "lol" indeed x)

  • That is the essence of power and finesse in a single sporting event.

  • Next year, eyof is in finland...i hope he will be there...:D

  • ja pierdole zajebiaszcze kocur PCH

  • that was a great shot!

on my best I can get to like... a third of that

  • on my best i can get to 2/3 of that

  • so u can throw 120 odd metres. wow ur fukn good.

  • omg im going to say i can throw javelin 5 times as far as i really can then subtract 5 years from my age lolololol. naa but on the serious side of things thats a fuckin great throw by pitkamaki.

  • I can throw a javelin like half of his way

  • damn if u ever get a punch by him u just about dead lol

  • punch? Sorry, can't see the connection between a pucn and a javalin throw, it's a very diffrent movement.

  • agree but maybe its very retarded punch:P

  • like a slugger

  • WOW!! FINLAND IS THE BEST!! Suomi o paras!!!

  • no jan zelezny is best. b4 him uwe hohn or something like that from germany

  • uwe hohn threw 104, jan throws 98, but they increased the wight after uwe threw 104 as it became to dangerous, jan zelezny is world record holder with the new weight

  • pretty sure they all weigh the same. just the centre of gravity was changed. how can they increase the weight of an 800gram javelin to 800 grams lmao

  • ftw

  • same weight, but the aerodynamics are different.. jan zelezny would have thrown 115m with the old javelin
