  • Gorgeous! What a beautiful layback at the end.

  • Love Sandy and love this program. Does anyone know the music she uses for her slow part at the beginning? i've been searching for it forever. Thanks for posting.

  • Boy was she robbed here... she should have been placed 3rd for sure in this portion ... they were always holding skaters back...then... but she really sold this program !If she had done a triple in combo I would have said she should have won !

  • Sometimes the satisfaction is only in the doing......we all still remember Sandy, and this exciting evening....best wishes thanks for commenting.

  • This was the best SP in the whole event!

  • I couldn't agree more!! best wishes

  • That is a joke! I think we got a hint of why the low scores when Mr. Button explains it was her first major international competition. There probably is a pecking order based on previous reputations and lobbying among the judges with each other. The thing is so corrupt; the saga of the French judge at the 2002 Olympic Games shouldnt have come as a surprise.

  • Yes.......and there doesn't seem to be a good way to fix it. This new points system just seems to be destroying interest in the event. The 2010 Olympic ice dance could be pivitol, if all skate well. I don't see the Russians "letting go" of this contest. But we shall see............it will be important that it as least seems fair!! There is a long list of skaters who were 'disappointed' in their placements! best wishes

  • Somewhat unbelievably, this was the 12th placed short program........!!!!!!

  • Actually she was placed 6th in the short program behind Fratianne, Biellman, Marie Allen, Poetzsch and Lurz. Still too low though. She really should have been in 1st place in the short program!

  • Thanks for the correction... I am not sure where I got the 12th place number from......old memory, or perhaps a television commentator mistake. best wishes

  • Write privately to 2lilermaids and maybe she can update you....best wishes

  • If I was a judge I would give her 5.8 technical and 5.9 artistic. I would have her 1st place in the short program.

  • I like the way you think, Raich!!!! best wishes

  • i know her she is so great!!!!!!!!!!!!8)

  • Yes, she was a wonderful girl...glad she is continuing in success with life!! best wishes

  • Hey 2lilmermiads, do you know if there are anymore vids of Ms. Sandy? 2lilmermaids and i both know her cause she a coach at our rink.^^

  • sandy was pure classic scotvold......Evy and Mary had such a major stable between the mid 70's and mid 80's this was a golden time before the nancy/paul era....from Terry Kubicka who won freeskating at worlds and did the first 3 lutz and back flip to David Santee to Sandy....

  • thanks for the insight!! Someone does need to do a book, about all these great coaches, and the people they influenced.....there is a great deal of history that needs to be documented!!! Perhaps even the USFSA should ask each skater to write a biography for the archives..??...best wishes

  • Slavka Kahout made her the skater she was, Evy and Mary got her after the hard work was done. Plus she was a trendous talent.

  • This was an absolutely gorgeous performance. I personally found her overmarked at these Olympics. I am not sure if it was either her not doing any triple jumps like the big guns were doing, or her lack of name. Still wonderful and terrific performance and Dick's commentary certainly shows he appreciates it.

  • I always love a program that starts with a slow, moving, lyrical section......I would give it very high marks!!!!! but sadly, no one ever asks me to.....lol........best wishes

  • do you mean undermarked?

  • Sorry I meant undermarked, silly me. A typo. All her elements were excellent, great spins, very well done jumps, nice style and flow throughout the program. The only flaw was not doing a triple jump combination like a few of the leaders did, but other then that excellent. It is a joke Poetzsch who popped her combination to merely a double toe-double loop still was put over Lenz, obviously that was just due to her name. The dreary Lurz finishing over this was also a joke.

  • Yes I definitely meant undermarked, thank you, it was a typo. This routine was great, it had great spins, very well done jumps, style, flow, good musicality. The only thing missing was really the triple jump combination the top 3 did. Poetzsch popped her planned triple toe combo to a mere double toe combo, the easiest double jump. No way she should have been over Lenz, that was totally on name. Lurz one of the most drab and stiff free skaters should never have been over Lenz either.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Just wanted to point out though this must be the short program, not the long. When you watch the elements, the program, and how the commentators talk about it, this is evident.

  • Yes, thank you...yet another example of the sirens of senility, creeping so forcefully about me.....oh fortuna!!! best wishes
