  • othere good inteligent speakers on youtube are blackdottv and also stick187

  • are you serious?? who are you?

  • VERY poor comment. He loves hipop, but he has never supported the negativity that some of it potrays....he believes in the traditional form of hipop. And its a lot for someone to be able to combine all of those. He's pretty insightful regardless of how he chooses to portray his points.

  • WTF?!? i see that MR DYSON forgot to mention something existing in our community!?!!! THE HATERS!!!! SHIT whenever we got a brother who tries to get it right we get some (like DR DRE would say:) "bitch ass niggaz" posting negative comments (mikeweb92576)'cause that's too hard for them to understand!!! & by the way; if DR DYSON is not creative for you(mikeweb92576); your teachers must be fuckin' aliens or some prophets commin' back to bring the light to your darkenned earth!! stupid fuck!!

  • I hate it when people talk about haters if anybody's two cents hurts you which it does most of the time are you really gonna make some stupid song about it

  • the only reason some people do not like michael dyson is because they cannot understand him.. unfortunatly his vocabulary and linguistic forte is way too saucy for most.. i dig him.. i think if their were a way to bridge his message to the general populas.. more people would wake up.. i try to help my best... check out my video.1!!

  • Mr. Dyson is great. I love listening to him speak. He makes me think and want to read on subjects I normally don't think about everyday.

  • It's Dr. I totally agree with you.

  • He's okay as a professor. He's not really rapping, just citing lyrics. His take on the N word is still questionable. But he's got books to sell, so it's not likes he's telling blacks the gospel. He's good, but he's not that good.

  • I LOVE HIM!

  • Dyson is the shiznit. He's as good as Boyce Watkins.

  • ideals and realities

    for sure

    think it out

  • Yall motha fuckas just some haters, this nigga got the game broke down all the way. Yall simp asses just dumb as fuck!

  • Since I learned he supports Kwame Kilpatrick, I don't see him the same way. That's a major disappointment.

  • MY NIGGA

  • read his book, Know What I Mean. It's got an intro by Jay-Z, and outro by Nas. This guy is legit. He doesn't call himself "The Hip-Hop Intellectual" thats what other people call him. Read anything he's written, he's a genius!

  • His book on Bill Cosby was somewhat hypocritical as he conveniently says that Bill C's life is too removed from that of the average black while neglecting to mention that Dyson himself is a tenured Professor in a top-flight university, hardly the 'average' black lifestyle.

  • But, at the same time he does not try to do what bill cosby does. He doesnt talk down to rappers and try to act like he understands them, when actually he does understand them much more then mr cosby does. He talks to them, not at them

  • word!

  • But Dyson doesn't care about the poor like you claims to in his books. He encourages blacks to call each other niggas and writes about 2pac like 2pac is Jesus Christ. No diss to Pac, but Pac said "Don't write about me". Dyson is doing what Jackson, Sharpton and all the other black popes are: making money off of the masses. Dyson is a damn clown and you best believe he will get checked soon enough.

  • i did not know that. He encourages blacks to call each other the n word? Well, im gonna have to read up on that. I've been planning to read one of his books but i got school work, u know how that goes

  • He's intellectual, don't get me wrong. But read "Is Bill Cosby Right" and read between the lines. He's using his position as a intellectual to cash in on the hip hop game to make a name for himself. I believe that Dyson can do better than shooting the messenger. Yes, he does defend the N word like it's a global phenom, but the N word started here in the USA with black folks. The point he fails to make is that we must stop using the word period if we want negativity to cease.

  • Dyson is a member of the "elite" but that's not the purpose of his book - it was to decipher Cosby's myths, and to discredit the put-down of Black culture.

He doesn't "cash in on the hip hop game," his writings vary. He talks about everything from Iraq to homosexuality, and his perspective is both right and refreshing.

  • Dyson spends too much time sucking Dr. King and Tupac's dicks. He's not creative at all and he tries to hard to explain shit. Cosby said what he said and that's the end of it, whether people liked it or not.

  • Dyson likes to try and explain what people do and say and make excuses for negativity. Dyson teaches because we have Dr. King and Tupac we don't never that to be shit. He's trying to be cool and hip with the young cats and get a pat on the head by the older black intellectual elite to which he belongs.

  • I disagree on the idea that MED is a part of the "elite", because if he was he would be a part of beourgious existince. Most of the beourgious brothers and sisters have a condenscending scope of people in poverty; being oblivious to the social structures that slows down their advancment, which they may have been fortuante enought to bypass.

So, MED in my opinion, is a true example of love and service and expresses himself in a way that bro. Cornel West might not be able to in reaching the youth

  • ur a dumass hes what hip hop is go back to ur camron music u white boy and leave the real hip hop for us cuz its our music

  • you sound sacarstic ?

  • You think he's good in a computer screen? He is MIND BLOWING in real life. I had the chance to attend to one of his lectures. His words are powerful, and I don't think his stuff is BS, he stands for what he believes in, and that takes a really strong man to accomplish such a task.

  • Im a adult white male, who grew up upper middle class, then poor. I really appreciate his articulate and well rounded speak. Even though his perspective mostly Afro centric basis it remains relevant, appropriate, and needed for everyone. As all of our cultures are succumbing to the consumer cancer, this could be our mutual downfall . I do not subscribe to tv, or its consumerist banter, but I am glad to have found him here. I appluad you, and look forward to more of your message...

  • true

  • listen to him.

  • This guy is awesome

  • True Dat!

  • very articulate brother..just to hear him speak/spit/ is a blessing ..

  • this speaks the truth
