i think HB vs Kronen fight was invented on a toilet during coffeebreak. he seems completely powerless against HB, plus they made him fight stupid, nothing with the style, speed and power we've seen throughout the rest of the movie. it gave me the exact same feeling as when Darth Maul was killed, the feeling "huh?! wha-- how could they..this guy-- how can they let him go down like this?!"

@ElementOfHate Well, bearing in mind that Hellboy is much more powerful than Kroenen, and the fact that Kroenen wasn't meant to kill Hellboy, I think it's somewhat understandable. Besides, I don't even think our favourite assassin was really expecting to meet HB; he was just lazing around in his clockwork office, waiting for Rasputin to capture HB and summon the Ogru Jahad- only to find Anung Un Rama himself tiptoeing down the hall towards him.

But yeah, it's still a bit lame.

Anybody read the Mike Mignola comics? Kroenen is a more of a scientist than a puppet for Rasputin, although Rasputin is still one of the most powerful villains, aside from Hecate.

According to the backstory provided, he only joined the Nazi Party at Rasputin's personal request, and abandoned his membership as soon as Project Ragna Rok came to an end.

It would be so awesome if Guillemo Del Toro directed a WW2 film where Kroenen was the only "fantasy" thing about it, and was also the main character. And if it was aimed at a slightly older audience than the Hellboy films, possibly a UK 15 rating and America R rating, it would be truly epic.

I think this is a bloody lovely vid, don't get me wrong - but those videos which depict Kroenen fighting to Rammstein and the like have their place too. I think the joint "creators" of the film-based Kroenen, del Toro and Mignola, would agree that while there is a certainly a place for high artistic depth, there is also a place for high-paced B-movie escapism.

Indeed, the beauty of their works is not in rejecting one in favour of the other, but bringing both together to create something new.

Professor Bloom identifies him as "Hitler's top assassin" a few minutes into the first movie.

As for Kroenen not being undead- he's been resurrected twice (if you count the deleted ending of Hellboy II), the blood in his veins has turned to sand, and the only thing holding him together is an awful lot of clockwork. I'd say he's undead.
