He took away there investments of which 10% of Southerner's who actually owned slaves lost their slaves and the money they invested in them etc. The Southerners had a right to fight for their state and their rights as citizens.

He took away there investments of which 10% of Southerner's who actually owned slaves lost their slaves and the money they invested in them etc. The Southerners had a right to fight for their state and their rights as citizens.
I wouldn't say they over-reacted. How would you feel if you were about to lose your lifes work?

Lincoln was against slavery, which was why he imposed those policies to discourage it as opposed to outright banning it. The slaves that the southerners invested in deserved rights as Americans too. The constitution itself declared all men were created equal... don't you think what the south wanted was unconstitutional?

@shivityshank Well the majority of Southerners were fighting for their state that was in the Confederacy, they didn't necessarily support slavery. It's like the majority of soldiers in the Union weren't bothered about slavery, they just wanted to preserve the Union or fight for their state. I think what the South wanted was constitutional, but in their best interests. The Union was too political and the Southerners felt they were fighting for what George Washington lived by..
