The last part of the verse isn't a open G chord. You have to put your index finger on the 2nd fret of the D string and your pinky finger on the 4th fret of the G string (tee hee). Check out a video of him playing it to see what I mean, because it's hard to explain the strumming for that part. It's still a great performance. Cheers!

I just realized that unless you can get Carter to play the drums on your cover than just leave them out. I have never heard anyone touch his sound.  Otherwise, great sound for three of the other four instruments that song would typically be heard with. Great job! I'd go see ya.
