for the most strange it may seem, this song reminds me of my homeland and the sad tunes by luiz gonzaga. but hey, many people in northeastern brazil might have a drop of celtic blood, right?
I love her so much, born in Scotland but brought up from the age of 5 in Australia, Karens voice takes me home, i may not understand my Native Tongue but... My Soul Does.... evidenced by the tears that trickle down my face.
The song is about a woman who waits on top of a hill for her lovers boat to return. He never arrives and she often asks other sailors about him... to which the reply that she has had it and must be kidding herself if she thinks he is coming back
@Steph9737 It was a surprise - Karen was a guest for Dervish as was Moya because they were celebrating their 21st anniversary. I did cry... just a wee bit.
Saw Capercaillie last night at the Piping Live! concert at the Glasgow Concert Hall. Loved this song and wondered if i would be able to get a recording. Could only guess the spelling of its title. Thank you so much for posting it and for the lyrics. God to understand what the song is about. You wouldn't be able to post them in Gaelic too?
I'm off to look for a recording on iTunes. Thanks again!
thank you for the English translation, the Gaelic is exquisite but I don't understand much and I so appreciate being able to know the story behind this beautiful music
@tomtscotland Hi sir. I haven't been on youtube so much lately but like that other guy who keeps postin this stuff you should be honoured for services to youtube users. (Devon something is his name) Thankyou

@kingsdaughter2011 , you will find it in the album 'an introduction to Capercaillie' on i-tunes, but not this version of it

I wonder, are the gaelic words roughly the same is the English? Very beautiful. Look for Niamh Parsons singing it in the Irish.
