Something is seriously wrong with an economic system that depends on war and destruction for its growth. Our weapons industries should shift their production capabilities towards domestic goods. It just makes more sense to produce products that Americans can use instead of military equipment--unless of course we plan on using the military to steal natural resources from other countries.

So lets say the bush govt spent a fraction of the 500b currently spent in iraq into education, this recession could have been avoided.The education people would have recieved could have helped them get better paying jobs increasing their earning and understanding of the enviornment around them thus avoiding the recession crisis of today
