Something is seriously wrong with an economic system that depends on war and destruction for its growth. Our weapons industries should shift their production capabilities towards domestic goods. It just makes more sense to produce products that Americans can use instead of military equipment--unless of course we plan on using the military to steal natural resources from other countries.
Bush's number one supporter in 2000, Ken Lay (ENRON CEO and convicted felon) years before during the Vietnam war was a economic researcher for the Navy. He wrote a report for Richard Nixon stating it was important to CONTINUE the war in Vietnam for the sake of the US economy. These conservatives believe in the war mongering view that war is good for the economy. Prescott BUSH was also a warmonger and associated with the Nazi, Fritz Thyssen. Their mind is twisted.

The engineers who work for the "Military industrial complex" do not need any help in finding jobs. The money would have been much better spent on the space program. Personal computers and the internet are spin offs of the space program. Money spent on war does nothing but create debt, inflation, recessions, depressions, death and misery.
Obama is your hero. The media is never biased, and nobody is protesting the war now. I guess it must be over. We don't have soldiers dying in Afghanistan: it's inaccurate reporting by Republican reporters. Long live deficit spending, and government meddling. Long live Barney Frank for forcing banks to loan to people who can't pay back. Long live Congress for bailing out the crooks against the public wishes, instead of letting them fail. Now their bonuses are paid with taxpayer money.
Ok, so if Saddam's regime was so hell bent on violating international obligations and attacking the United States, why didn't the high and mighty United States take him out during Operation Desert Storm? Why did we pull out our troops and allow him to continue ruling even after he committed genocide on thousands of civilians in the Halabja chemical attacks? Damn, that's pretty fucked up of the good ol' US of A isn't it!!
Right-wingers seem attracted to this sight like flies round shit, and when they eventually make a comment, trying to defend the moron Bush it becomes painfully obvious how this joke got elected.
Some of the conservatives shouting their mouths off here really need to educate themselves about the world, problem is though it involves reading a book and forming their own opinion...hardly conducive to the sort of person who gets their news from Fox.

So if you feel like you can make a case for the iraq war then go ahead. i dont need sources from you bud, cause i know you will do what tools do, work for your master which is the US govt and will try to seel the iraq war by any means.

Listen this is not a college paper nor are you a professor. You say that you went to iraq uh, i dont believe for one second. You said earlier that your against the Iraq war, then why the hell are you fighting in it. The loss of my friend was tragic, i bet like you, he didnt know what he was getting into when he joined the army. He didnt know that he would be sent to fight a war for no reason. Sub prime loans started under the Carter administration you stupid shit. How are you gonna blame Republicans? Thank you very much Democrates for giving poor people loans that they cant afford just cause you wanna feel good about yourselves. Democrates think with they're asses.
OK, first learn how to spell democrat. D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T. Second, the reason republicans are to blame is because they were the party in power when all of this happen. They were the party that got rid of the laws that had restrictions on sub-prime loans. They pushed for this kind of marketplace, they got it, and looked what happened. BTW, banks sold those shitty loans, not dems. Research and find out the truth instead just believing whatever the RNC tells you.
You have to be more retarted than bush to believe what you are sying. Let me guess you believe that the billions of dollars bush the donkey spent in Iraq didnt affect the economy? How much more money of tax payers dollars do you have to spend on two wars for the economy to be affected? Your a fucking joke and a shill. Republicans are asses, at least the democrats think, thats more than i can say for you. So go back from the hole you came out off, the world will be better off.
Actually, abi, I dont remember saying anything about the iraq war and its relationship with our economy. My comment was about sub prime loans, which did in fact start under prsident Carter. Google history of sub prime loans and do a little research before you chime in. Next, since you went off on some big tangent about the Iraq war, I feel obliged to respond. I DO NOT believe the Iraq war is helping our economy, however, being that its costing only 2% of our national GDP
After this god forsaken war is over it will have cost the american people over 3 trillion dollars. Can you even comprehend how much money that is. My guess is you dont. Yes sub prime loans is one of the reasons for the recession, but so is the deregulation of the market itself and predatory lending. Listen bud, your trying to defend this god forsaken war. Maybe you like to contribute your hard earned money to pay for this war but i dont. Dont blame or his policies blame everyone else right.
Abi, calm yourself down a little. I can sense the hostility and I'm not trying to fight with anybody just share my thoughts on a subject. Second, read what I post instead of just skimming it. I never said the war had nothing to do with recession. I simply feel that there are more causes that have played a bigger role in the recession. Iraq isnt helping things I fully admit. But it is far from the singular reason for our economic problems.
I am clam bud, what i dont like to hear is people defending the Iraq war like its a walk in the park. Its bush that got us into this mess and you are acting like it wasnt his fault. When countless lives have been lost as a result of his decision. Why shouldnt i get passonate about a topic which i feel so strongly about. I had a friend killed in Iraq and his family has to live with that for the rest of their lives. i get you not only put the recession on iraq but you cannot defend the war itself.
Next, your right, 3 trillion is a crap load of money. (if it will end up being that much, you failed to site a source) And I cant comprhend how much money that is because I wont ever see that much in my lifetime. Maybe you will, I dont know. But I know small numbers like 2%. Go to defence dept web site and look up cost of iraq war. Essentially for every one dollar in our pockets, two cents are funding the war. Not really breaking my bank account. What is going to hurt my bank account,
Search cost of war of Iraq in youtube bud and maybe you will see what im talking about. You try to dismiss my claims without trying to do some research to see if im mistaken or not. This war is actually going to cost you, your family and your grand children for years to come. Monetary compensassion is one thing, but can you count how many lives have been lost.Money can be replaced but lives cant, think of that the next time you try to defend the iraq war bud.
is when the government takes my tax dollars to bail out stupid people who bought homes they couldnt afford. Also, you say the banks should have been regulated? Actually if you knew more about the crises, you would have already known that sub primes started as a government regulation to force banks to give loans to low income families. Thanks for getting involved Jimmy Carter. The markets work if govt stops fucking with them.
One last point, if you compare the money spent in Iraq, then think about how much that money could have helped here in the US then you might understand my point. So lets say the bush govt spent a fraction of the 500b currently spent in iraq into education, this recession could have been avoided. The education people would have recieved could have helped them get better paying jobs increasing their earning and understanding of the enviornment around them thus avoiding the recession crisis of today
I fought in Iraq and I have friends that I watched die there, and while I dont agree with the invasion, it's people like you who want to pull out and make all those deaths for nothing. and FYI, its a volunteer military, not one of us that fought there was drafted. we all knew the stakes when we joined. Later bud.
Honestly i am done arguing with people like you about the war becasue its a lost cause. You say i want the US troops to withdraw, of course i want them to lower their commitment in a confilct Bush started. I dont want anymore US or Iraqis to die in a war that made no sense to start in the first place. But it seems like that point escapes you so there is no point, go to iraq and make haliburton, shell, and black water some more money tool.
we both probably have differant opinions on how much its hurting. You would probably like to pin most of Americas problems on the war since you never agreed with it in the first place. Now that the economy is bad you want to make a connection between the recession and the war. Thats fine with me. I feel our nations problems stem more from people charging up credit card debt that they cant afford, buying homes they cant afford, getting loans they cant afford, etc etc. But blame the war if u want.
Your right i didnt support the war in the first place because it was a huge mistake to go into iraq for no reson. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 neither did it have wmds, both reasons which bush and his cronnies sold to the people over and over again. Yes the subprime mortgage market is also a reason for the recession. But if you trying to make the point that the war has noting to do with the recession then you are sadly mistaken. Many of bush's policies has led to the recession of today.
Bush is such a dipshit. He wanted that fuckin war in Iraq and look what it's costing us per day 450 million. He can't put it together that his shit war is greatly responsible for the economic downturn.
The U.S. government is spending too much of the U.S. tax dollars in Iraq. The Iraqi government has billions of dollars and they are not spending. They also have oil. It's time the Iraqis stand up on their own two feet, and pay their way now. If they need help with security, then they should pay for it with their own money. It's not fair that the Americans suffer for their problems. Saddam Hussein is long gone. Time for the Iraqis to use their new found freedom to become independent of the U.S.
If anyone still honestly believes in Bush and his obvious lies there are no words for your ignorance. Not that globalists (such as CFR) Clinton , Obama or McCain will be any different behind the scenes. The NWO is already here.
for people who dont get it yet. he started the war to ruin there economy so the US could take control of iraq and there oil. with the currency plummiting it holds major returns on your money if every things keeps going as well as they are.vietname is the same. i dont agree with war but these oppertunities are few and far between so my advise buy the dinar and dong. it may make you rich and honestly im convinced it will return with all the good news.
Bush isnt an idiot...he knows the Iraq war is fuqqn the economy over.He jus doesnt care. The 157 billion dollars is being borrowed from China and will just add on to our debt Inflation will grom and so will gas prices
Correct, and the reason I worked hard to get my house re-mortgaged before the 2006 election was because I knew the down-turn was coming fast because of the Iraq quagmire. Luckily in November 2006 I secured a 6.5%, 30-year, fixed mortgage rate, and Bush and his recession can do whatever, but I'll be fine.
The Iraq war fucked this country's economy. Period.
Was down to 5.5%. Maybe you missed that the fed cut a full 1.25% in a one week period. The down turn is coming, but it looks like they're still trying to put if off as long as possible. This country needs to get in shape fast or we are all going to be in serious trouble.
The Iraq War has been good for the economy (Bush's own personal economy). He is right when he makes that statement cause his own personal economy is the only economy that matters to him. The rest of the world can STFU
There are so many factors of why the economy is going bad and most of those are linked either to Bush or his cronies! The price of oil doubled since the war started is the first that comes up. There's more, but my head's starting to hurt!!
Do you happen to know that the "Young Turks" were a bunch of crypto-Jews who took over the Turkish government for the purpose of destroying the Ottoman Empire so that the state of Israel could be created? They ordered the genocide of over a million Armenians for this purpose. The Armenians were the intelligentsia of the Ottoman Empire. Jewish Turks took their place. The Jewish Bolshevics who genocided and supplanted the Russian intelligentsia helped in the plunder of Armenia.
The reason the economy is messed up is due to fractional reserve banking. Having your money controlled printed by a private bank and not your government doesn't help either. There was a time when usury was considered bad for business.
God it so scary imagining how this moron is the most powerful person in the country. Cross your finger's and pray he doesn't massively screw up even more $hit in the next eleven months.
Something is seriously wrong with an economic system that depends on war and destruction for its growth. Our weapons industries should shift their production capabilities towards domestic goods. The U.S. government is spending too much of the U.S. tax dollars in Iraq.

But the US isn't in a recession - GWB last week..

The war did create more jobs, but all those jobs are being paid for out of all of other Americans wallets.

Period.
SatwaMan 3 years ago 3
Could have gotten it at an even lower rate a few weeks ago.
tsycear 3 years ago
But not a 30 year fixed rate
SatwaMan 3 years ago
Was down to 5.5%. Maybe you missed that the fed cut a full 1.25% in a one week period. The down turn is coming, but it looks like they're still trying to put if off as long as possible. This country needs to get in shape fast or we are all going to be in serious trouble.

The Iraq War has been good for the economy (Bush's own personal economy). He is right when he makes that statement cause his own personal economy is the only economy that matters to him. The rest of the world can STFU
iammasterlion 3 years ago 3

@Marvareeno are you dumb?

The reason the economy is messed up is due to fractional reserve banking. Having your money controlled printed by a private bank and not your government doesn't help either. There was a time when usury was considered bad for business.

the problem with the economy is the high oil price stuped.
oil is the literal feul that powers the engine of the economy, with oil that high the economy ceases to run
