Having just heard one of Richter's Medtner videos, i stumbled upon this, and altho understanding no Russian, was unable to quit, so fascinating were the sequences. Of course it helps hugely to know his story already, seen film, read book, etc, but he remains an enthralling, contradictory and very human musician and glimpses like these add to the legend. Thanks for posting.
I don't think it sounds funny. For me even colour of voice-over conveys all the turning -points of Richter's fame, try to listen to it not to thinking about the words, you'll understand what I mean.Actually Richter remains mysterious and condradictory person in spite of his fame in all over the world .His perception of himself as a mirror for the idea of composer looks difficult to accept completely, but still it speaks about inconceivable spituality and modesty of him.

@ykalinsky apparently, it is NOT "copied" at all. I mean there is significant overlap in the use of same pictures and films. Bruno Monsaingeon is great, but you would not say that he took pictures of young Richtger with his father Theophil or his mother Anna Pavlovna, or his woman Nina D'Orliac :-)))
Какие чудесные и редкие слова :"...всегда "щепитильный" в денежных делах".
Как много они говорят о человеке.
В английском языке нет такого слова. What wonderful and rare words: "... always "щепитильный" - legible( ? ), conscientious(?), truthful(?) in monetary affairs ".
Спасибо за замечание, только щепетильный в русском языке имеет ещё и тонкую моральную окраску(совестливый) , которой нет в английском слове пунктуальный (без эмоций) - просто точный
I really want to learn Russian, for understanding Richter better, and implicitly, Russian culture. I just love any art reportage from Russian TV. The Russian language is as rich and melodic, as powerful and integrative as Richter's unique interpretations of our great masters. I love Russian culture since my adolescence but was lazy enough to never learn Russian. What a wonderful language! I began studying it one year ago, and saw it's not really difficult, only the Cyrillic script.
Sorry for the BLAHBLAH. If you have a Russian-speaker in your neighborhood, ask Him what he thinks about this comment and get from Him a good translation. Do you like poetrymusic?:-) This text is on a very high level! On purpose, I wrote VO to prevent non-Russian-speakers to look at it! Very soon you will get a translation with subtitles. May be (I hope so) you will like it Sorry, I am Russian and try to express myself in other languages. Try to do the same and be open-minded Best regards
Please, keep a version without subtitles! Or at least keep the subtitles russian. Because I find, as a Russian speaking, the english subtitles offput the russian words, and often not accurate and incomplete. Thankyou
That is very, very sad. We are led to believe things are better there. The Italian government and the American government are pretty awful. Bush has killed many, many people and Berlusconi went along with him.

This is copied form the video called
Richter: The Enigma (1998)
Director: Bruno Monsaingeon
The same director made several great videos - with Glenn Gould, David Oistrakh, Nadja Boulanger, Yehudi Menuhin and Grigory Sokolov...
Highly recommended.

This is very important and extremely touching document, lots of details previously just touched upon in Bruno Monsaingeon´s film elaborated. It seems
as there should be more, is there?...
