i've said this b4 in another vid. even if that brett hull goal was called off, the sabres still needed to score a goal to win that game. and aafter that, they would have had to win another game...in dallas. and proof that these guys deserved it, in my opinion, look at where this team went the next season: the stanley cup final. so whether or not you think that goal should count, i stand by that dallas was certainly the better team.

When you shoot the puck your pushing it off of your stick into a place that is beyond an area of your control, Hull did not have possession of the puck once it left his stick for the first time. Saying that he had possession of it all along is bullshit

Some things Id like to point out:

-Obviously an NHL official is going go along with it.

-Up until 2004 Espn was to hockey what versus is to it right now.

-Goals similar to Hull's were called off before the rule was changed

-Only people who hate the sabres with a passion and stars fans say that its a legal goal, Ive been on neutral sites like hockeybuzz where the majority have discussed and agreed it was no goal.

Rephrase your comment better. Only people who hate the Stars (which is pretty much the entire league, admit it) thought it was a no goal. Plenty of sports commentators and even Wayne Gretzky thought it was a goal.

In the end what does it really matter? We could go back and forth all day about whether or not it was a goal.

Even if the goal had been wiped out we likely wouldn't have won game 7 in dallas. Even though the sabres put up a good fight the stars were the better team.

that's what's sad about the entire thing. Buffalo fans act like it was a given that they would've won if that goal was disallowed. How do they know they would've won a game 7 in Dallas or scored later that night. Offensively the Stars were ridiculously more talented than the Sabres, and we had a goalie that was playing just as hot as theirs at that point.

@videotransmission They changed the rule because of the controversy, not because it was a mistake. The rule likely would have been changed anyways it was pretty unpopular. Hull's foot was in the crease but he was the shooter and he had possession. Making it legal.
