  • WHAt a fag hittn a girl...

  • fit russian bird likes it rough. Good concept though makes sense in reducing lag and wobble through the punch.

  • @TheOriginalKushMan shes greek rybko went to greece.

  • the hammer of russia strikes not from the waist but from the fist!

  • Very interesting. Does the whole fist hit the opponent or only a sharp edge of it? And the hits are targeted at body soft spots I believe?

  • I know heavy hand and it should not be taught so freely. It is a deadly style, luckily s many of you have the priciples wrong and will never truly learn it.

  • wow. one of the first youtube threads tt are not full of idiots.

the western thought is tt no muscle = no power. how wrong. i've been hit by a tai chi old man and it felt like my gut got crushed. it looks similar to this.

i've been doing heavy hang training for awhile... these concepts are very very good.

any website you guys can reccomend with good vids of mikhail? i doubt they hv systema in asia where i live..

  • I've heard of this in many arts. Variations can be found in most Chinese systems and, older styles of karate that haven't forsaken their roots. Relax in the right time and place, tense in the right time and place... Certainly, I wouldn't want "loose-heavy" power (as it is often called) to be my only source of power, but it's a great thing to have in your arsenal. Sadly, it's subtle power source lost on most "modern" systems designed around a ring... or an octagon...

  • An average adult human arm (male) weighs about 7 kilos. That's the same as a small sledgehammer. Imagine getting hit in the chest by a sledgehammer! Most people have too much tension in their arms and shoulders so their arms doesn't feel heavy at all. We actually restrict our own ability to hit hard, heavy and deep . That's why we Systema guys strive to relaxe our bodies through breathing - to develop heavy arms for deep striking.....among other things :-) It's about deep level touching!

  • @SystemaNorway Thanks for proving my point; the average human arm does weigh only around 7 kilos; hence why arm punches lack serious power. The average adult male weighs around 80-85 kilos; using proper punching technique, the entire weight of the body is being put into the punch. Generating far more power than this arm punching systema stuff

  • @RebelWrestler45 I think you should just try getting hit by a Systema practioner before you comment any further on this subject. These things needs to be experienced.

  • @RebelWrestler45 Lets say your punch is deflected by an elbow/knee, sir you've just broken a main weapon. You obviously never practiced or had any realistic involvement with systema to base your opinion off of, so how do you expect people to take you seriously?

  • @Rummity Knowledge of body mechanics, physiology, and actual combat are far more useful in the analysis of the efficacy of a technique, than controlled technique walk-throughs and meaningless demos. First of all, in no instance will my knuckles come in contact with an opponents knee; and one always runs the risk of being injured when throwing a strike, e.g. an improperly checked kick can lead to snapped forearms and shins. This is why we pick our shots, and set up combos, to prevent self injury

  • @RebelWrestler45

    I have boxed for years

If you punch like this you dont need body weight

A relaxed arm thrown fast is enough will do more damage and use less energy than trying to get your weight behind it :)

  • @lukeating Exactly. Mass x acceleration = Force. You can't inscrease the mass of your fist, you can only increase acceleration. Acceleration is hampered by tension. Anyone who doubts this concept needs to look no father than Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet Kun Do. His predominant principle was to remain relaxed until the moment of impact. Watch any great striker and they appear to be loose with all their movements.

  • @kuremadman

;) People dont want to listen to that theory until they feel their brain exploding every time they get hit by a relaxed fighter.

I knew a bloke with no fighting training but used to knock people out with his hand starting in his trouser pocket. He said it kept his arm loose. He told me that years befor I leaned the secret of destructive punching

  • @kuremadman you imagine the speed he generated while stood infront of someone in a confrontation and laying them out. You are right its about the speed and being loose. I have got Bruce Lees book and he says about being less tense, the more fast and powerful you become ;)

  • @alkleot my friend how far is that from TJ? I stay in San Diego, CA (10miles away)

  • Ryabko rocks!!!!!

  • In actuality the fist/arm is half-relaxed half-tensed. Squeeze your fist until the fleshy part of your hand tightens but don't go beyond that. Lead and coordinate your strike with your breath. This will distribute the force throughout your arm and body so that even what looks like an arm-only punch in fact becomes a full body weight strike if you so direct it to be. Mikhail holds back a lot in his teaching demos and that throws people off. He can readily collapse a lung with a full strike.

  • Ouch....poor guy in the green shirt.....

  • I have been doing systema for a little bit of time but i have learned that all of the arm must be relaxed except for the wrist so that the impact is like BOOOM

  • If the entire arm is relaxed, that means no muscle contraction is occurring.

  • this is what I call "critical thinking" rock on

  • @RebelWrestler45 exactally, to punch with muscle power is like trying to punch with your arms strapped to your sides with steel cables. But relax and the strike will enter into the opponent and cause great damage.

  • They are teaching to keep your hands completely relaxed until impact. If you look you can see it.

  • THis is amazing to feel.I would imagine one little love tap from these guys you will realise your out of your league.

Anyway to do thisI find it good to imagine your fist as a brick on a loose rope

  • Yeah good analogy kiwi - exactly. Was doing this to mates for a while as a bit of a joke and almost stopped a guys heart. One of those things that really does work and really is dangerous.

  • @NewZealfighter

imagine striking a hammer instead, might be better analogy IMHO

  • spyrokat, thanks for the explanation.

  • What is the technique here?

  • There is no technique demonstrated here - there are no techniques in Systema in general, only concepts, principles, strategies and tactics. The point is that in order to achieve the "heavy hands feeling", the wrist (not the fist) should be tight but the rest of the arm as relaxed as possible. This feeling is applied to all sorts of strikes, not only the downward ones.

  • @spyrokat

tigh on impact or as a whole... the wrist that is?

  • @spyrokat

how effective is systema against larger opponents.

most MA I have seen and the few I tried dont show you how to defend yourslef well against bigger opponents. And being 5'7'' and 135lbs is on the small side.
