@mr183129088 Well, as you can see from the graph in this video, the biblical God kills many times more people than Satan, the plagues put on innocent people being one example. And even if man and Satan are responsible, why doesn't God being all-powerful, put a stop to it, simply by growing these people food? Anyway, that's the question this video asks. My answer: There is no God.
Evil exists in the world because of our own choices and actions. God is not a controlling, puppetmaster. Why would we need him and love him if he were this way and if the world were perfect?
The "God of the Old Testament" as you say, was not violent and ruthless. He was a loving father. The people were ignorant and rejecting. God always gave them forewarnings to their actions but they didnt care. The people were selfish and malicious. Sometimes they deserved the consequences (like at Sodom and Gomorrah).
No, I will have to look into that, although I can assume, since it is from C.S. Lewis, that it argues just about the opposite of what I do in this video.
The Epicurean dilemma that you've listed actually leavse one question unanswered. Keep in mind that when Epicureas asks, "Is God both willing and able?" He then asked a question which remains unanswered by him: "Whence cometh evil?"
If God is all-knowing, then wouldn't it logically stand that He knows what He is doing by allowing evil to exist if he chooses not to get rid of it immediately? If you answer yes, then logically you must admit that the question assumes a false dichomtomy since being able/willing are the only two options and presuppose that God is OBLIGATED to RID the world of evil. It presupposes that God does not have a will to ALLOW evil to exist for any good reason despite his capability to get rid of it.
Well, reading a bit of the introduction to that book online, I completely agree with his description of what he used to think, back when he was an atheist. And then he goes on and talks about all the good things on earth, and how they must have been created by some sort of higher power. Even assuming that that IS true, why jump from that conclusion to the conclusion that it is the CHRISTAN God, or that the God of ANY religion, that is the true and accurate one?
Great question. Keep in mind that almost no Christian has ever become a Christian because "they don't know which religion is true and therefore chose Christianity." I guarantee that no Christian who has thought their beliefs through will ever argue that. If you want to talk on determining the truth, you can also message me about that as well, just like you did in referencing the Deuteronomy passage. Comment boards get frustrating after a while, which I think is something on which we BOTH concur.
Human logic is different from God's logic. God is omnipotent, omnipresent, ethereal. We do not expect non -God believers to find sense in God because on the first place, there is an absence of wisdom by the holy spirit. And this is truly unfortunate for one person to have. In my opinion , we cannot blame the world's evil on God as He even sent his only son Jesus to pay for our human evils.Evil however persisted because some men (non-believers or even believers)continue to choose it as their option.
But if God creates every one of us, then why does he put in the evil, or rather, the ability to commit evil acts? And also, getting back to the point of this video, why does he not grow food for people who are starving, and then let them CHOOSE with their own free will whether or not to accept it?
Epicurus, definitely does not believe in God,for where there is doubt, there is unbelief. We cannot question the wisdom of God because he has a purpose for everything and sometimes human understanding does not allow for this deeper wisdom. I believe it is only through the guidance of the holy spirit within us that we can have the gift of wisdom to which God reveals his plans .Evil S. has killed millions of people through wars, famine, hunger and crime and is attributable to all these ,not God.
Wow.. a very good video indeed! as this is a very relevant issue, I would like to bring up a point that added another level of thought for me. Even things like world hunger, and these natural disasters can be tied back to our free will as humans. It's fact Americans account for only about 7% of the population of the world, and yet we consume over half of it's resources! Even what appears to be "natural evil" arises from our own free will to in this case focus on us, rather than on loving others!
But why does the Lord not help the victims of our free will then? The sole act of growing starving people food is not affecting anyone's free will or hindering their freedom in any way, except perhaps their freedom to harm others, but why would God allow that freedom in the first place? Why not take that freedom away and leave all the others?
A good point to bring up, I think, is that the ten people that Satan kills in the Bible were only killed because of a bet between him and God where the latter gives explicit permission to do just that. (Book of Job)

The God of the Old Testament seems to be a violent and ruthless God.
The world today is ruled mainly by violent and ruthless people.
Maybe there is a connection.

good stat at the end ... biblical god is the nastiest creature of all myth
he kills children and burns 'souls' forever
and the arguements for this god are the most unconvincing verbal diarreah ive ever heard

Good video. Personally, while I like the music, I prefer videos that also have speech. Speaks to both the visual and the auditory parts of the brain.

Are you saying that humans should believe in God, even if it makes absolutely no sense to them? To what other areas should this non-logic be applied?

this is so pathetic and full of logical fallacies, it is a waste of time to watch this!!!
