Lol. Immediatly after reading the title, I was all like "This isn't gonna be an ordinary race, but a duel between 2 champs". It seems I was right there. =)
I will say it again even though I have said it elsewhere. Great 3 year old crop. Affirmed, Alydar, Believe It and Noon Time Spendor. The latter 2 were just a notch below A/A who I put on equal terms despite the disparity in their head to head meetings. And thank you again CF, as usual.
@joefederico Believe It creamed Alydar in the Remson and ran a huge Wood Memorial (at 3-5 odds)- without Affirmed in there, Believe It would have given Alydar a huge run for the money. Many also don't remember that going into the Derby, undefeated Sensitive Prince was heavily bet and had won the Lexington, Fountain of Youth and Hutcheson, but the Derby distance was just beyond him.
I'm not sure we will ever see a rivalry like this again. They faced each other so many times and always put on a great show. Shades of Secertariat and Sham. Alydar and Sham would have easily been Triple Crown winners any other year.
Hey cf1970, how goes it? I'm not trying to be a butthead (you know I think you and your posts rock), and I'm sure you have already noticed (maybe it's not possible to change after posting? I have yet to post a video, so I don't know), but this is the '78 Preakness, not the '77. I just figure you're a perfectionist, a stickler when it comes to stats, and may like to have that pointed out if you haven't already seen it. Peace, man. (don't hurt me) :)
Hey man, thanks for the heads-up. I hadn't noticed the year being wrong. It is rather funny that no one noticed it until now though. I'm a pretty chill dude, no hurting anybody, at any time.
Hi again, cf1970. I have a question for you. I would just ask JettRink50, but I have no idea of knowing wether or not he is being serious, or if he is just being one of those "conspiracy on every street corner" type dudes (no offense, JettRink50. It's just that I don't know you). CONT.
Anywho, is he being serious when he says Alydar was murdered? I'm just curious, as that really bummed me out when I read it. I know you're a reliable source of info and would greatly appreciate it if you told me. Thanks. Later tater.
JettRink50 is being very serious. The case is a mysterious one, and I have serious doubts of it being an accident. Search "The Killing Of Alydar", and you'll find a lot of information.
Greetings, Mr CF, from the UK. Great to encounter another racing enthusiast at any time, anywhere in the world. Thanks for this posting - much appreciated. Do you have any European favourites? For me the American great can only be Secretariat.
Hello, and thank you for the kind greeting. I'm happy you enjoyed the video, and happy we share a passion for horse racing.
The great Sea Bird is my personal European favorite, but I also greatly admire Shergar, Brigadier Gerard, Dancing Brave, All Along, Ribot, and Mill Reef. Terrific champions, all.
I'm also a big admirer of the Japanese champions Silence Suzuka (sad how he died) and Deep Impact. Amazing talents.
Thank you for the comments, and have a good weekend!
yeah my opinion Alydar was murdered. J.T Lundy the owner of Calumet farm ran it into the groung in only 7 yrs and was in deep financial trouble. He received 36.5 million after Alydar's death he did serve time in prison but for a different charge (bank fraud)but was never found guilty of Alydar's murder.
@crystaljinthehouse You are not the only one who thought Alydar was murdered. When I heard the news and such, I don't know....something didn't seem right about it. Alydar was, is and always will be my favorite horse of all time.....nearly 20 years(this Nov 15) he has been dead.....still miss him.
I would like to apologize for any comments I made that have offended you. #1. I didn't mean to suggest that you don't know what you're talking about...it's just that I don't know who you are. #2. I referred to you as a "he" in my comment, but, after visiting your channel, I see your name is Cher, and you are most likely a female. Once again, sorry. Peace. :)

I seriouly think that if Alydar would have kicked into high-gear a tad earlier, that he would have won this race.

There was a book out about Alydar being
murdered for the insurance money. I did not
read the book, but I guess there was some
questionable circumstances, I thought maybe
someone had read the book. Everyone one thinks
Jett is a he, we tend to pick off beat names
like Arazi.

This is a great race. I wish I had got to see Alydar.
I wondered if he was murdered for the insurance
money?
