@Amtrak1194 Different type's of planes...for instance the 737-300 (SWA) will have a shorter wingspan than a United 737-500.

ive got i flight from Jackson,MS(KJAN) to atlanta(KATL) to Pittsburgh(KPIT) and when i get to pittsburgh me and my dad are going to watch a steelers game. never been on a flight and love aviation so i cant wait to go to atlanta!

Screw reporting anything to the law. Spotters have disclosed numerous planes that have been renumbered for obvious reasons and were used in clandestine activities perpetrated by the law!

Well, it has many definitions. Some people go out to watch aircraft, and that's considered spotting. Then you have those who call spotting as being taking pictures/video of aircraft, collecting/writing down registrations, and listening to ATC. The hardcore spotters will also help law enforcement in point out any irregularities in the surroundings, whether it be an accident of any kind, or if they take pictures or video of an accident, helping with the investigation.
