Alright, he didn't need the extra space for braking. You can gather that much by noting the taxiway he exited the runway to. The displaced threshold is used for takeoff and landing ''rollout'' The pilot just made a mistake is all. I didn't even make out the bar until 0:58.

@klem2A The threshold is available for that reason, not just for takeoff, its just this is a light plane since it came from Amsterdam probably so then they need more space to brake

I guess over there it is, but it has to be a pilot's decision. A displaced threshold is included in the TORA, not in the LDA, and therefore should it not be used for landing (again, only according to air law) as the physical strength of the RWY is not guaranteed. Over there it sure seems to be strong enough though :)

@arjennovic Its the are before the Actual runway starts .. It normally consists of Yellow arrows. Aircraft cannot land or take off on these areas though because the concrete is too soft and the aircraft will breakthrough

@Wargeneralguy. By the book, because below a certain speed the reverse thrust will throw dust or little stones forward of the engines which can be sucked up by the engines, which can cause damage.

@mahadbaba09 This is a visual approach, which means they disconnect the autopilot at a certain altitude. From there they can see the airport and fly manually. Lining up is just skill, pilots get trained for it.

You can't do visual with low visibility for instance.

Nope. It is not "ok". The approach must remain on or above the glidepath. That's in the regs. Of course, doing a missed is a pain in the butt, and so is overshooting the runway end, so it's the lesser of all evils, but let's not play fast and loose with the strict interp. of the rules.

@videotater not all Part 121 flights end IFR. In the US, some part 121 flights fly to airports after the tower closes, so the pilots sometimes cancel their IFR flight plan once cleared for the approach so that they do not have to close their flight plans by phone once on the ground.

Pretty rare exception to the rule, but technically, ya got me on that one. :-) But even then, the "remain above the glidepath" rule remains in effect, whether precision IAP or a contact approach, or completely VFR in VMC. Even part 91 pilots must do so, lest they "recklessly" operate "a civil aircraft". I've gotten busted for nailing the displaced by a mere 10 feet, phone call from the tower, etc. Tower guys seem to love doing that. :-)

Dear Mr. raidersfania; you know why this one was very stable and NOT shaky "like others" ? Because the camera was mount on the "glareshield". The "shaky" clips is because they were "handheld" and i suggest you to sit once in an observer seat,and shoot an approach like this handheld..
