ohhh maaan! Nice shooting bow, but awful Tiller at the lower Limb. It looks a little bit like a holmegaard Tiller. You have a Bend 20-25cm beyond the grip- and the lower and a little bit the upper limb is to inflexible. Put the Bow on the Tiller stick, make a photo and put an Ellipse into it with paint. Use (google for it with google pictures) a Tiller tool - makes things more easier. Gibe the Bow (if the grip is not glued) a round Compass Tiller or an Flatbow tiller.
I always watch your stuff when I get home for a few days. You've got some brill ideas and you aint afraid to put it into practice (and I'm not afraid to copy it!). I watch more of your survival stuff (and your kids' stuff) than anything on Youtube now. Keep it up. BazR
Nicely done. Personally i would have left it alot thicker to try and get it to at least a 60 lb bow but either way works. :) Also it seems like your arrows are kicking their ass end up when they start their flight. A good way to fix that is to put one of those metal beeds (i can never remember what they are called) on the string right above where your arrow nock fits onto the string.
now i know why it's short with a 42-lb draw: the live part of the wood takes up nearly one half of the thickness! i suppose you're goin to use more red wood and less white live wood for bows with 80-100 lb draw weight.
@macbolan00 most of the wood in a tree is dead; it is dead cells and it's only role is structural support and transporting of fluids.the red wood you are referring to is called the heartwood, and the wood you call the live part or the white wood is called the sapwood.
hi johnjayrambo1111, i've got a question. Where can i find a straight piece op taxus-yew. i have been searching alot and made all my bows of oak and hazel. but i want to try something new and yew look pretty cool. could you please help me out?!
rekycheky: 1.82 meters is more than enough. You can easily make a 55-60 lbs bow only 1.65 meters in length. Just make sure to get the sapwood off. It is only helpful when overdrawing the bow, it helps keep it together. Also, try and get a single growth ring on the back of the bow, or there will be splinters lifting and the bow could break. Check out paleoplanet (google it). Lots of info on making bows there. If you make an accound, add me as a friend (my nickname is JohnTheRipper). Cheers!
Where I am, (British Columbia) 40 lbs. is the required minimum for hunting. You ought to get yourself some broadheads and come out here in dear season.
hey man it shoots real nice but a tip is to get carbon or aluminum arrows it will help ur acurcy and the have more power than thouse little fiberglass arrows u got now.just a tip dont take it the rong way. nice bow 5 stars
yea man nice bow, i made one a few weeks ago, and i was firing it for the first time in some woods near my house, unfortunatly the police came down and decided it was a lethal weapon and took it off me, bastards

hey mate ,the ones you're talking about are the big warbows, which are for long distance really, this ones just for target shooting or if legal you could hunt medium game
it was his first bow. making a bow the first time and making it draw over 45 lbs is not really easy. if you screw up one single litle thing it could snap.
its about 1 & 1/2 years\ old ,i seasoned quickly at first near a fire like in the other vid then i left it for about 3 weeks it has got string follow i,ll see if i can make a vid with close ups, what do you think of the fake horn nocks its really a bit of wood glued on and painted black
dude, even crossbow hunting is illegal. what i dont get is that you arent allowed to own an air rifle if you are under 18 in the uk. an 18 year old is more likely to try to kill someone than a 14-15 year old!
