Hey, I was working on a remake (well MAKE actually) of Ruins Chaser myself for a while. I finished all the character graphics and everything but then the project corrupted and I said screw it. :P
the instrumentation is similar. tunes like "Sealed Door" and the theme of sadness in Chrono Trigger share at least 3 instruments with this song, but the original Bramble Scramble from DKC2 sounded very little like this - this is just a MIDI rendition and not a faithful version, after all.
the ambient use of the string instrument is also alien to the sound employed in Chrono Trigger. strings in the CT soundtrack take a much more dominant role.
I thought the same thing before I even read your comment. lol. I think its from DKC2....for some reason it makes me thinks its the background music of one of the levels where you have to be sqwawks the parrot and fly through the thorny vines...
Hey, the char moving slow on the map works kinda nicely. Lufia 1 was the same.

just try to use a smaller sprite on the world map like in crono trigger and let it move faster to let it look more realistic
