Have you ever tried Harpoon Bohemian Pilsner from their Leviathan line? My first version of a strong lager and it blew my mind, especially being from Harpoon.
Sorry to break it to you and expose your palate dude, but this beer is fake, Southern Tier uses alot of atrificial ingredients to create their "craft" beers.
@BeerGeekNation Well, only the brewmaster would know which artificial ingredients they use, there are no ingredient disclosure laws in America with alcohol products as there are with food products, allowing companies to get away with using non traditional(and/or artificial) beer ingredients, convenient isnt it? The craft beer movement has become a cash cow over the past decade, makes sense that less than honorable companies would eventually crop up.
@kellerbier2 get lost douche-bag,,,,,get your facts and critique "criteria" together before making such rude and unsupported claims. I'd listen to Chris as to what to expect in this beer. ESAD.
so i just saw this tonight at the liquor store in town.. i immediately told my brother.. that i just saw this on beer geek nation and that we should get it.. instead we got other stuff and didnt get this particular brew.. i almost feel as if we should of got it to drink tonight...... oh well maybe some other day.
Southern Tier is finally coming to my home state of New Hampshire! Ah, bit it is an IMPERIAL lager. You know, I never really know what the difference between an Imperial and a regular is. Not sure what I think of grapefruit notes on a pilsener.
Someday I should send you some of the White Birch brews from NH. I would be interested in your thoughts on those.
Great review Chris. I have lots of friends that are just getting into craft beer and exploring new tastes. Getting away from the big named, watered down, flavorless beers that the masses are so proud of. This looks like a great beer to wean them off and onto something with more complexity and flavor. I will recommend this to them and have one with them as well. Thanks again!
@djmx121 You know a lot of people have "gateway" beers and I think this should be one of them! its an amazing beer that can segway people from macro to craft very easily. Glad to hear you use this one because from now on I will do the same haha
I think we need to give more love to craft pilsners, especially when they are brewed so well. ST seems to really knock it out of the park with their imperial series.
@ChadzBeerReviews HAHA yeah I just thought you would appreciate that fact that I was really digging a ST beer. You seem to be the unofficial cheer leader for ST beers. Adjunct doesnt have to be corn or rice. I meant it has a similar grain aroma to the "adjunct lagers".

just so everyone knows, Chris must've been REALLY impressed by this beer because he texted me at 1:30am to tell me about it, LOL
"adjunct aroma"? I'm pretty sure there's no rice or corn in here.
Yeah this is a fun, solid and refreshing imperial lager. Wish they put it in six packs instead of bombers.

@BeerGeekNation If you like this, be sure to try their Krampus that comes out for Christmas. It's even better.
