  • love how the barriers went down then opened before the train left then closed again

  • you know, i thought that any kind of bus MUST stop before crossing the train track in ontario. i mean, not like in afghanistan i bet you there is no such a thing as trains. please reply.

  • always been wondering, do u guys hold the camera and film, or put the camera on a stand. cause once when i went to the richmond hill go train station to film trains, i saw a bunch of guys with an expensive camera on a stand right about the same distance you were filming, and started filming the trains u mind repliying?

  • i have train video go ahead and watch it if you like great video thanx for upload as im in nz prop not as good as yours

  • I doubt if any railroad transmits on the "CB" radio (11 meters). Maybe some third world country where they pile about 300 people, goats and chickens in/on a car designed for 72. I think they are running microwave or F.M. signals. I ain't no radio expert but 11 meters? I don't think so. "Breaker-Breaker...any takers?"

  • got to love the horn

  • the last 2 cars should have stopped

  • @juliejujuicey Your a real a creep, get mental help creep, go see a head specialist, go accualty kill yourself, do something other then sit on youtube, acting like a complete moron.

  • @TheRockster88 idgaf i can write what i want you dont own me if you read this its your problem not mine why did you read it ? ? no answer so stfu and i can write what i want geez go do something besides annoying people on what they write exactly you fucking asswipe

  • @juliejujuicey Internet drama FTW!!!

  • @DC0C0 lmao rite?

  • as usual drivers not stopping when crossing lights are on and gates are coming down

  • Nice train...

  • Why are GO Trains so long?

  • Crossing has to be keyed by radio? (by CB none the less?, would think at least VHF RR band). I thought most of this type were fully automatic, sensing the train speed, so that the crossing opens if the train stops before the crossing, then closes again when it starts up again.

  • Signals are activated through the tracks. Different sections of the track are separated into circuits that are completed by the axles on the trains. These crossing grades were installed when there was more freight traffic and as a result the signals are activated about 250 meters before the crossing. When the train leaves the station, a crossing code is keyed in over CB radio. This is processed by CN Rail activating the crossing. I have another video if this crossing with a scanner if interested

  • Unfortunate thathe train activates crossing signals and stop traffic, wasting fuel, making pollution and wasting everyone's time.

What caused the signals to re-activate when the train was departing?

(I could not discern any forward movement.)

In Santa Barbara, California, the engine stopped close to a crossing next to the station sounds a very short horn blast. A microphone on a pole picks up the sound and if above a set high dB, activates the signals.

  • to answer most of your questoions on the train looking weird it is a bi level cab control unit

  • No not California. This was shot in Newmarket, Ontario

  • That idiotic layout is a prime example why so many drivers try to beat the train.

  • 2:45 wtf... lol

  • what is it with trains and honking before they leave the station?

  • I wish we had these boom gates it Australia

  • Sorry... forgot scanner was not in this version... it is here in the video linked to in the description

  • @TspesVladD This is in Bradford, Ontario, Canada.

@nwow2866 you're right: the line belongs to CN and is used for freight almost exclusively outside of rush hour (when the GO train comes).

  • @thepurplepixel This is actually in East Gwillimbury, Ontario very close. This area and North to Bradford was purchased by GO because CN abandoned the line. Freight trains came once or twice a week at night last summer carrying produce, and I'm not sure that will happen again this year, as the siding at the produce plant seems overlooked and abandoned.

  • Yes, Koalabear72 is right, there used to be heavy freight traffic back in the day, but now it's just stricly Go trains and a small CN local that sometimes runs up to Bradford, but it not looking like that anymore.

  • You can engineer crossings for a station stop like this here in the US and where ever this video was taken. My guess is that this is a heavy freight railroad that the commuter has trackage rights over. Probably wasn't designed with the station in mind.

  • @nwow2866 The circuitry for this crossing was installed when there was more freight service, yes.

  • What state is this in?

  • That is not in the US that is in Canada near Toronto.

  • @TspesVladD its in Ontario, Canada

  • That's one weird looking train. Awesome video though. I LOVE this video.

  • was

  • I wonder how the crossing activated when the train wsa still stopped.

  • maybe by manual switch at station

  • @kingtigertank Over the radio, listen to the activation in the audio from the scanner.

  • @ekoslosky I understand that the engineer can turn the crossing signal off and on. Guess they are activated by the locomotive completeing a circuit.

  • @Dusty754 OK

  • Theres a lill box on the station that they can operate with a key to start the crossing signals

  • @CRTukker ok

  • @CRTukker There is, however they can also be activated over a CN frequency. There is a sign in front of the crossing that has a number (636911# I believe). They key this in over the radio and it activates the signal. Listen to the audio in the video, you can hear the code being entered and then a confirmation as the crossing activates.

  • Also the crossing is HUGE!!!!!!

  • I thought the crossing was in U.S.A..

  • The ultimate railfan's death. Sitting in a room with 3 e-bell's going off, one after another.

  • lol the cars just keep driving by

  • cool train

  • I like how cars keep going through even as theyre closing..

  • @explorer47422 The train stops at a station before crossing, but the crossing sensor turns the signals on before the train stops.

  • yeah... southern ontario drivers are NUTSO!

  • WTF?! tons of ppl took a run for it!

  • please, how far from UNION to MILTON ?please, how far from UNION to HAMILTON ?please, how far from UNION to GEORGETOWN ?WHAT THE SPEED OF THIS TRAINS PLS ?

  • where is this and what street that WHITE TRUCK looks like mine the one going over the tracks at 1:36

  • I guess they don't use flashing ditch lights in Canada.

  • yes they do, this is the 1st GO Train i have seen that didnt have the flashing ditch lights not opreating :S :S

  • Holy 10-car train. Not too many of those in LA...

  • lol funny thing is, this train only goes about 110 km per trip, and the train is always packed BEYOND capacity... :P

  • >>rolls283

Sounds fun. The only thing in Los Angeles packed beyond capacity is our freeways :-p. Our subways, light rail, and Metrolink are far underutilized by comparison.

  • Really, When my dad rode it he said it was empty so then I wonder "Why is it so long if barely anyoner uses it? And why are they deciding to add 2 more cars to a train if 10 wasn't already too much. Now they're talking about rail extentions, adding 3rd rails, new diamonds, and station improvements and lengthenings?'' What is the point of GO? For people without cars who wish to go to neighbouring cities. And if it's for people without cars then why are there parking lots? Help me understand GO

  • Depends on what time he rode the train, and what line he was on....

For example, the train from Toronto to Barrie is ALWAYS busy...

Same as the one from Toronto to Hamilton... packed! (that line has trains with 12 cars)

Saturdays, and trains during the daytime usually are much quieter times for the trains... so dont let that fool you.....

Try going to Union TRAIN station, in the GO TRANSIT concourd, and see how many people use go transit... it'll suprise you... 10's of thousands!

  • you have to remember, they can rent the tracks out to other train companies to run on also

  • Also, my Dad got on without paying? Don't they have security or ticket collectors or even those things that beep when someone goes in and doesn't have a ticket or and expired one.

  • they do....

    They do random ticket checks.

Basically, they dont do it at every stop, because the train would have to wait there for several minutes, while tickets are checked. Thats pointless.....

But GO Transit picks a certain train on each of the 5 lines to put 2 extra GO employees on that train, 2 times a week, to check tickets. But, the trains picked change daily... so its a very random spot check. $5000 fine if you didnt pay, i wouldnt risk it for $10-$30

  • @rolls283 actually its a $110 fine, as I have received them more than once

  • What is GO for and to who was it meant for? Also, how do they prevent people getting on free if my Dad did.

  • (G)overnment of (O)ntario Transit Authority. Responsible for regional rail and bus transit in the Greater Toronto Area, established 1967.

  • OMG the car @ 2:46

  • Crossing signal goes off at 0:18

  • the way to fix it is to take out the grade crossing and put either underpass or over passes for cars or trains so no one will get ran over by train, so no one will get ran over by train.

  • That crossing is fairly new, and not used heavily enough to warrant a bridge. The crossing is also in a fairly rural section, and is on a bypass road, there are few if any pedestrians which would regularly cross the crossing.

  • thats just STUPED why does the grade arm goes down if the train doesn't cross the track, they need to fix it because the railroad company is wasting your gas, every Railroad company is wasting your gas, unless they upgrade to high speed rail whare Overpass tunnel and bridge are required.

  • the reason it goes down before it crosses is because there is a sensor a certain distance from the crossing, and it triggers the crossing when the circuit between the two rails is complete (by the wheels and axles). it can then sense when the train is stopped if the wheels stop moving over the sensor, or if the wheels are stopped on top of the sensor, and then it goes back up. when the train starts to move again, it then triggers the signals to go off again. thats why. there is no way to fix it.

  • correct, EXCEPT,

in this video in particular, if you notice, the train is stopped fairly close to the crossing

it is the law that the crossing be fully activated 20 seconds before the train procedes thru the crossing...

Even going at a crawl, the train would split the crossing before 20 seconds (by the time the train starts moving, and the sensor recognizes)

So the conductor uses a radio signal to activate the crossing when the train is ready to go again :)

  • The track is also used for a single freight train which runs bi-weekly. Thus the trigger for the crossing is further up the track. Also some go trains may bypass the station or be out of service, and thusly will be traveling full speed thru the crossing. so it has to activate far enough back incase of that situation. The crossings in Canada all have redundant triggers so we dont get as many accidential or missed triggers as american crossings.

  • @Roadwolf611 Many American crossings also all have redundant triggers, I think

  • 1:57 What the heck?? Lights already on and everybody still crossing the tracks...

  • People will do that. Most commonly not-so-smart folks.

  • i counted 13 dumbasses doing that...

  • Crazy Horn!! Nice video.

  • @UltraJoosh. I love K5LA and K3LA train horns. I'm just glad the San Diego Coaster which also uses the same bombardier coaches use K5LA's and not the P2 horns that Southern California Metrolink uses. OGHHHHH

  • ive got a video of the go train leaving the East Gwillimbury station heading north. Sounds like the bell on this crossing is an electronic one. I like them better than the clang bells.

  • thats looks more like the west coast express in b.c same model

  • I find it pretty strange to see this kind of crossing-activation by a train that makes a stop at the station in nearby the crossing, here in the Netherlands something like that is impossible, due to circuitry we have for those situations.

  • Ontario traffic engineers are capable of all sorts of creative "solutions".

  • 2:04 - the one that barely got by.

  • Does he have to punch in the codt in the train or at the station?

  • i love go trains, that the only train i have been on and i live next to a go station XD good vid

  • check out my Go Train video's !

  • BOOOOOO @ 2:45

  • lol

  • What Passenger Train Is That? Look at those railcars

  • new go trains are the beeest

  • go trains are the best

  • What is that Horn called ? K5LA ?

  • Yeap, a Nathan K5LA.

  • thanks

  • Your welcome.

  • haha dumb ass yanks

  • got ya there, mate

  • wow CB4 has a GO CAB!!!

  • who work Crossing Signs

  • O wow.. who would ever think a video of a GO train would cause such fights! D:

  • is that a cicada I can hear at 0:45? Why did it stop?

  • well, east gwillimberry so almost

  • was this taken at newmarket

  • Where is this recorded. By the way nice video.

  • Horns are cool and with an echo. Nice vid

  • the flyers are better than the leafs!

  • They both suck, although I'd prefer the Leafs to do good.

  • thats a cool horn

  • why'd the train stop?

  • It stopped at the station to pick up and let off passengers

  • haha i love how the cars just are going at a nice even pace then they have to stop and when the gates go up its instant traffic flow again

  • idiot @ 2:03

  • greenlane?

  • man they r really ugly, but they have nice horns

  • The drivers at 1:54-2:05 are real idiots

  • I think they need to change that crossing signal's timing. It went down before the train even got there and had time to go back up! I thought that was strange. I bet that would cause some traffic tie-ups. Also there were a lot of cars that ran the 2nd crossing after the bells started to ring! Good video though. PS - the middle train car was the best :P

  • its just because the rail block for the signals is before the station. there is no real way to safely change this as freight trains fun on this line on occasion.

  • Yeah i too was taken aback when the train stopped and the gates went back up. I guess a rule of thumb would be to slow down at all crossings because anything can happen and you don't want to rear end anyone or get hit by the train. A 3,000 pound car is no match for tons of steel.

  • Yea i saw the new engine this week. It was hooked up to an older engine, why do they have two engines sometimes? I usually see one engine pulling the same amount of cars, why two?

  • hmmm... that seems strange... possibly more than 12 cars? Other than that I have no clue.

  • My dad drives a train and the have more than one car sometimes, so when they drop off the cars, they drop off the second engine with it. So they can drive it.

  • why stop the train before de cossing road?

  • station stop.

  • porque se para el tren antes del cruce?

  • I heard were supposed to get new, more areodynamic engines?

  • Yeah there are a few out now on the lakeshore line

  • lakeshore toronto?

  • yes

  • I just love the activation bell sound ...very cool to hear! Not sure what kind of electronic bells though..

  • this is a great video this is my hobby too so if you dont like MY Name Kicks Ass shut the fuck and dont watch dick head faggot

  • the Go train has a nice horn.

  • Oh man! E-bell on these too? Oh, What next?

  • Nice video btw way Ty!

  • Hey cuntbag(MyNameKickAss), who really has no life, because you obviously took the time to search up this video, watch it, and constantly post trash that gets you no attention, just proving how much of a fat lazy ass shit-bag you are, spending your wasteful days pissing people off, JERK-OFF! You think posting some pointless trash on a video is gonna keep people from doing their "hobbies," which is what "CANADIANS" call it dumb-fuck. Go back and learn the asthetics before you judge someone.

  • If you don't like to watch train videos, go do something else. It's a free country, you know.

  • If you don't like trains videos don't watch them you jackass.

  • Why do idiots like you always like ruin this for everyone. Lots and lots of people like trains and think its a great hobby. Don't even comment on train videos if your going to post pointless and meaningless shit.

  • Buddy get a fucking life and stop trash talking. I don't play WOW because I'm not a cock sucking fuck like you. Why do you even watch this stuff if you don't like it and post stuff like this. Fuck off.

  • I'm tired of this, so just fuck off.

  • My name kicks ass is an asshole

  • haha wow yu are truly a fag :P K alot of ppl find trains interesting and do this as a hobby, u ever seen ppl out watching car races? hobby, Airshows? Hobby, Trains are hobbys too. and yu see thousands of ppl go to races and airshows and shit, so wats so different about trains? i guess yur hobby is being a Faggot box dick clap who likes to spend his time saying pointless fuck all shit about other ppls videos. So do us all a favor, fuck off, and get a fucking life.

  • nice train i have seen awsome

  • lol drivers dont like trains

  • I hate it when they advertise all over trains and buses, it doesn't look professional.

  • This is the best train crossing video I have ever seen.

  • thanks!

  • is that exemed?

  • exemed?

  • exemped- a low used rail crossing

  • love the horn!

  • Lol cars wait for nothing.

    Bell sounds very weird.

    Anywhoo nice vid!

  • yeah they are electronic bells

  • Those electronic bells are irritating. A bell is supposed to ring, not chime. Get a load of those two cars that went under the gate...ticket time!
