  • out of tune.

  • hey what amp did you use?

  • Remember when fender was charging $50 premium for the 3 tone burst finish?

The price of this guitar is half what it was 4 years ago. My how times have changed!

  • @jamesdewer Don't know in you country. But at least in Europe is 300 euro more expensive than 3 years ago...

  • very nice. and what about distortion? how much costs this guitar?

  • Why have you got such plinky tone? you are doing this strat no justice what so ever...

The 62 was known for its thick warm tone and you're making it sound like a cheap chinese copy.

  • @666ft7dude I think he's using thin strings.. just my guess. even then still sounds good man. I think thicker strings would do the guitar more justice, though..

  • sounds nice! ive been looking on a Fender AM Vintage 62 Strat 3 Tone Sunburst, what do you guys think of that?

  • Thank you for showing me how to play this magic Hendrix tune. It cannt be played without proper Strat- sound though. This guitar must be among "the best" Now i have a problem : Buy the the Standard with thinner neck and 7.5 radius or this one with 9.5 radius and the thicker neck. And by the way what is your amp ?

  • I really like the THICK neck of the hot rod... But I guess not everybody would like it... It also sounds killer...

I am not sure if the standard 62 has vintage frets... But I sure prefer the medium jumbo...

In this video I think I was connected directly to a boss gt-pro simulating a jazz chorus...

  • @legebakkenb Last time I checked the 62 VHR is about $500 more than the USA Standard. I think its worth it. The thicker neck does add warmth to the sound. Even sustains pretty well too.

  • @legebakkenb SRV and hendrix both used 7.5 radius necks with 6105 or 6100 jumbo frets.

  • @fezzard that is a mistake, hendrix would use several different standard issue stratocasters from the 60s, of which did have a 7.5 radius, but very thin frets, unlike the relatively large 6105/6100. With Stevie it varied, as his no.1 strat was an unusual model, possibly from 59 but with a 60s neck that was constantly modded due to fret wear, starting off at 7.5, but changing to 9.5, 10, and maybe even a 12 radius with relatively large frets. he also used varying custom made strats.

  • @fezzard SRV had bass frets yer but hendrix would have had small frets as they were all just late 60s standard strats

  • amen...john mayer studied the best guitarists ever. good talent

  • Haha. I think its hillarious that people are commented saying Mayer sucks!!! Are you sure you guys have ears. Listen to Out of My Mind or Gravity live and then talk. In my oppinion the best guitsrist and song writter of last decade. I am biased cause I am a fan but common. Even if I didnt like Mayer I would know he is phenominal. Thats just ridiculous to say he sucks. Bugs me.

  • @AlanDavidMusic its great to know their is still a mainstream fanbase for super blusey rock like his trio stuff....in the live in LA album when jm does a slow blues he says "its great to know we just launched into a slow blues in 2007 and 10000 people went wild"

  • Very nice sound !

Is it the bridge pickup ?

I do prefer the neck pickup~

Too bad that this guitar is too much expensive for me :(

  • Comment removed

  • Objectively, great player with a few good songs...

  • Granted, a lot of his songs are pop-music trash, but there is no denying he is a phenomenal player. Listen to the John Mayer trio CD. The man knows his blues.

  • Tá bem

  • Please stop playnh john mayer is horrible

  • Life would be very boring if we only had RHCP...

  • que calibre de cuerdas usas?

  • Ernie Ball Regular Slinly (.010 - .046)

  • wat strap locks have u put on?

  • dunlop

  • i think this guitar should be tore up....as in....played the shit out of....

    that's just me.....

why are you chicken picking mate....???

    hit the darn note....!!!

    i see SRV influence....

    learn from him....

    ;)

    well done other wise.....

    really nice guitar.......

  • Sure... I also prefer worn guitars... But this is new! Give me some years....

Sometimes I prefer just picking, and sometimes hybrid picking, as i think it using the fingers can transmit more "energy". Think of Albert Collins....

Anyway, too much to learn yet...

    Thanks!

  • alright mate....no problem....

i was just stating my opinion......

  • Nice little bit of John Mayer

  • Dude great playing

  • thanks!

A mí me gusta mucho.

  • Don't you just hate it when you cant turn up yer tube amp, to liven up those single pups

  • Linda guitarra...

    Un saludo!

  • oye amigo q pastillas trae esa belleza???

  • Pastillas American Vintage Strat

  • Great Strat, great sound and great playing :D

  • whats the difference between the hotrod and the standard 62

  • The main differences are in the neck.

The hot rod has a thick C neck while the standard has a standard C neck. The curvature of the fretboard is different too. The hot rod fingerboard radius in the hotrod is 9.5" while in the standard is 7.25".

Another one is that in the hot rod, the tone pot of central pickup is also wired to the bridge pickup

  • thanks that helps a lot. one more question. Is there a difference in sound?

  • I don't know... I've never played the standard... (although I do have played a couple of original L series ones...)

What I can say is that I like very much the sound of this one, and that I find very comfortable the thick neck.

  • Do you know which pickups these are? Great playing man!

  • Thanks,

The pickups are the american vintage strat model, with reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup. Very nice defined sound.

  • Superb :) beautiful tone and playing.

What is the title of the 2nd song please ( at 12 s), thank you :)

  • Thanks. Slow dancing in a burning room, (John Mayer)

  • good job!

  • cool! nice tone

  • Thanks!

This guitar sounds awesome. Much more than in this video. It seems that the camera cuts all the bass...

  • i know that cam sound problem, only direct recording on computer is best way to get good sound, anyway that guitar sounds awesome!
