  • what's the music called from 9:00?

  • this guy look like Jason

  • WHATS WITH THE ENDING??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I had the TurboGrafx-16 version of this game and the farthest I ever got was to the final stage with the fire waves/people and the final boss. I should go back and finish that because if I made it that far and if I can make it past the fire then I know I can do it.

  • I've never seen Chopin credited in a video game.

  • La version arcade est un peu plus belle et il y a quelques trucs de plus en arcade (entre autres le coeur qui explose à l'avant-dernier tableau et qui coule ensuite, ce que l'on ne voit pas ici) mais ça reste passablement fidèle quand même.

  • can't wait till splatterhouse 4 :)_

  • Erm, is that me or i noticed that you had 3 lives in stock at 11:00, but at 11:05 it took one away and restored all your health too. Mmmmmh.... weird..... :P

  • @Corad4

well i did say in the video description that the deaths were edited out which might be why the health was magically restored in the vids

  • So there's an inverted cross and I see the alter, but still I feel like something is missing from that scene. The music is calms nd there's a pause, and then it gets crazy, but nothing happens. Did something happen in the arcade version?

  • @killustrator There was a scream from Jen at the last part after several seconds of him standing at the alter which I can only assume is praying or staring off into space.

  • @killustrator it was Jennifers scream

  • For a horrifying and violent video game of yesteryear, the staff roll BGM sure does sound beautiful.

  • I have this for the FM Towns Marty and it's arcade perfect. This is still a good version compared to the US one though.

  • great game... shame about the pc- engines timid attempt on the sound fx & toned down gore... for the true version look no further than the classic namco arcade machine.. pure class.

  • Great playing it took me a long while to beat this game ... awesome.

  • looks like jason vorhees lol

  • Stage 6 would make for a killer heavy metal riff on guitar!

  • Comment removed

  • wow the bridge in Stage 3 must be pretty hard to get pass you can see the holes in the American Version but not in the Japanese version

  • it appears but it's using some kinda sprite flicker which does not get picked up when you record with my old video capture card

  • oh ok

  • level 0I and it's boss reminds me the first contra final level

  • Awesome Run of Splatterhouse dude.

  • the guy is a badass. i love him (not like a woman) but like chocolate and cookies ^^

  • Level IV reminds me of the alien base level in the contra games

  • I mean level VI

  • Is there any other differences between the 2 versions beside green blood instead of red? Not much of a change imo, but the music is better than the arcade thats for sure and the level 4 end boss is much more fun to kill with a golden cleave and the better music. He's a tad harder also I believe.

  • Rick punches knives. How hardcore is that?

  • The japanese TG-16 version is good, but the US TG-16 version is watered down as all hell.

  • yeah I know they make his mask red and the boss at stage 4 is changed to a mask instead of a inverted cross

  • The arcade version is so much better

    this version sucks!!!!

  • You should try playing the US version...it's even worse than this.

  • That kicked ass! the JP versions are always better

  • Out of them all this is my favorite it has the arcade and the home console mixed in ^^ and best of all the Inverted Cross!

  • the turb grafix just mixes up the sound and changes a coupkle of things. tho i think his mask shud be purple

  • can you kill the flame monsters in the end?

  • You cant

  • i hate the censored version

  • I used to have the second and third splatterhouse

on the genesis. Just never seen the ending to the first one. I played the Arcade version and this Turbo Graphix 16 version is similar.

  • I just found the coolest splatterhouse trailer! If you like splatterhouse you will love this! The guy made this from scratch! youtube. com/watch?v=c9y2CHZLDpk

  • I was so dissappointed with the ending when I first completed this game...

  • wow. i can see why. there IS no ending

  • Hey, do any of you retro gamers know of any retro gaming magazines still being sold in the UK?

  • 0:45 that spike sound effect sounds reminiscent to the sound effect of the NES version of the zombie in Ghosts 'n Goblins

  • AMAZING game....replay value is like 8/10

but...there is little storyline and th ending leaves you saying "i did that shit for THIS? "

but still a good game i guess

  • cool game. Love the music

  • I remember when this came out my friend around the block had it and i wasnt allowed to go over and play it, I have been wanting to play it ever since, now that I am older and can buy what i want I cant find it anywhere other than online

  • One extra thing, yeah it had to been cencered to a point. Alot of that would've been way too grusome.

I'm pretty sure that with some games on the console that this was the truer case as they could have had at least some of the stuff there in the forground of level 1.

  • 15:58

The music sounds so much like TMNT here!

  • it does

  • its this guy Jason Vorhees

  • You almost died in a couple boss fights, but great gameplay!!

I really love the music and sounds too!

  • Gotta love the music

  • Thanks!

Whilst were talking. Can anybody point me to footage of the arcade version?

  • Just search splatterhouse arcade gameplay :3

  • Isn't the arcade version called Slaugterhouse?

There were better graphics then these TG16 versions.

  • No its called SPLATTER HOUSE as well.....I agree the TG16 version is bit more censored....well...alot more...Its also about hardware limitation, the TG16 wasn't that powerful too....so...don't blame censorship, blame the console, even if it was good.

  • NO!

There is an Arcade version of Slaughterhouse, that came before this Splatterhouse, TG16, 8-bit crap.

Do your research before you become an authority.

  • um......i've never heard of slaughterhouse -_- iLooked for it, no answers

  • Sorry for flying off the handle dude...

Actually, the version I'm talking about may be the Japanese Arcade version. I remember it so well because I got Splatterhouse for the TG-16 that Christmas.

I was kind of dissapointed that the graphics took a step down and the main guy wore a red mask.

  • ooooooo....i understand :(

  • Splatterhouse rules its my favorite game if any one knows were I can download this game email me please

  • 1st and 2nd where really good the third had less gore and was really dull

  • I dunno man, I played it both in the arcades and in MAME, the music was scarier, the monsters moaned as they died, those guys puking themselves into oblivion had a scary sound, and the blade had a sinister 'sweep' sound to it... and there's the random ghostly sounds going on.

I believe this computer version, as good as it is, has the tinier sounds and much less atmosphere than intended :)

  • Oh man, Splatterhouse (2 especially) still creeps me out. Scariest game ever! IMO.

  • this game kicked so much ass... TG had the best version too

  • is there like an online version for this game or sumthin so i can play it on the computer?

  • You could use a ROM, but I'm sure if that's legal...

  • alll brings back good memeories.

  • The arcade version had much, much scarier sounds

  • Thank you so much. I enjoyed watching this game. It is one of my all time favs.!!!!

  • I never was able to play any Splatterhouse games, and I really want them now! Thank you so much for showing this!!

Namco should bring ALL Splatterhouse games to PS2,PS3 and XBOX 360!!

  • You can download this game and the 2nd game on the Wii's Virtual Console.

  • they are working on a remake were hes like the hulk

  • At least the mask isn't red like in the turbograph16's version :P

  • I have this version but I want the arcade version.

  • i actually like the Cathedral music here better than on the Arcade version. must be the Organs.

  • This series is classic I hope the new one lives up to the reputation

  • There's A New Splatterhouse Coming Out?! Holy CRAP.

  • A new one is coming out for ps3, and maybe x-box. But it's just a 3D reboot. All 3 games will be retold all over again!! Very Lame huh??

  • well i think they should retell them so that the n00bs of today will know the story THEN release a sequel

  • this game scared the #$@! outa me when i was a kid

  • awesome thanks dude

  • I like how the developers at the end have either nicknames displayed, pure bullshit, or shortened names that prevent people from knowing who the makers were. I wonder why that is.

  • In the 1980's, many Japanese video game companies liked using nicknames as a popular fad.

  • Ah, that makes sense.

  • Man I remember playing this game when I was in preschool! I loved this game, I played it with my uncle all the time!

  • That my freind is what you call an EXCOSISM!!! Cool game!!

  • this game used to scare me on the megadrive

  • Yo it me again. They came out with more info today * The developer behind the game is BottleRocket, * The game will be played on the PS3 and Xbox 360 * The release date: sometime around mid-2009 * The more details: Check out the June issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly for the full reveal.

Thought i might just let you guys know

  • wumtan is right... you can check it out!!!

  • Hey have you guys heard there making a remake for 360 and ps3.

  • I heard it was gonna be for Wii but not for 360/ps3... be cool tho ^^

  • That's what it said on EGM. I think it would be cool if they made a game for the DS. A kind of remake thing, like what Konami did with Contra 4.

  • There will be a remake. it is in the works for I think PS3 and 360. gonna be awesome.

  • NO WAY! Thats the best news I heard all day.

  • Good then, as it's true.

  • im remember this game, gave me nightmares and i loved it. first game i played after Doom

  • I was told the final boss had something do with graphic spilling of embryonic fluids. I didn't see it.

  • goldenjoeblow - they changed it in this port because it looks too much Jason Voorhees...i guess they were worried about gettin sued.

  • Good point.

  • This is one of the better games for the Turbo Grafix 16. There is a whole level where you fight fetuses! I could have sworn his mask was red back when I played it.

  • Have the original arcade pc board for this. Still fire it up from time to time even though I suck at it. Still, it's one of those games that my friend and I like to talk about playing when we were teens at the local arcade.

  • awsome series, only learned recently that theres quite a following for the splatterhouse games and a big demand for a remake.

  • Oh yeah. This game, Friday the 13th, and A nightmare on elm street have led me to toughening up and learning not to fear death.

  • This'll never beat the arcade classic. It was much goryier there.

  • you have to learn to slide

  • Please somebody tell me what the hell I just watched haha

  • the splatterhouse series made me the man i am today.

  • What do you use to upload videos from your pc-engine? And where did you get it? I've been wanting to make some PCE videos for the longest time.

  • I hooked my pc engine to a video capture card connected to the pc

  • Video capture card; I'll see about getting one. I really enjoy your videos, and I want to upload some Turbo videos myself. Stuff like Cotton and Legendary Axe. Thanks again.

  • this was really a creepy game

  • Lol When you compare this to the arcade version, it looks like someone took a broom and mop to the first level. Still its not that bad for VC download.

  • this game doesn't use th cd add-on

  • yeah, pc engine, but there are ALOT of pc's... what are the requirements? That kinda stuff. But turbografx 16 huh? Never heard of it

  • Where did you get THIS specific game? Snes? Nes? Sega? Pc? Please let me know! :)

  • I think they made it on the turbografx-16 but I'm not sure, I think the original is an arcade game though... It's on the Virtual Console on the wii as well.

  • I think its Namco System 1 - JAMMA

  • can you guys read? its on the pc-engine, known in the western market as the turbografx-16 (with the cd-addon)

  • this game was also released for sega genesis. i know cuz i had it but i also downloaded it for the wii and it's under turbografx 16.

  • the most goriest game, but chiller is even more gorier: heads getting cutted off, guys getting separated by ropes, and of course peoples getting killed by a gun. 5/5

  • REAL tough guy ! on stage six you beatup a Clitoris!!! and all those late late late term abortions !!

  • Man! thank you you bring me back memories! xD

  • Can someone please make a montage of this game with the song splatter house by the koffin kats! That would be awsome.

  • fuck this is sick! i love this game.

  • no in the second part she is alive that was not the real one

  • Jenifer die?

Holy shit, I didin't remembered that from the genesis series...

  • Well, it was retcon in Splatterhouse 2. So Jennifer dosen't die.

  • so this is the least censored version? even so, its hard to watch due to how butchered it got.

the hands don't flip the bird on you... the bowels boss doesnt spill its guts, only doing a Contra type explosion instead... and all the creepy stuff in the first stage was taken out

  • Least Censored version is the arcade version... Which is also 20 times harder.

  • of course. i meant in terms of Turbo Grafx/PC Engine, Arcade being the original uncut game, the japanese version is less butchered than the US game.

  • where can i get the full rom? all i get are demo versions

  • Look for the Genesis roms, there are Splatterhouse 1, 2 and 3;

  • The music on the first level is awesome.

  • i still play this game

  • Amazing, this game is bloody hard!

How do you get 5 hearts at the beginning of every section though?

  • its the default for pc engine but ya.. other times I edited out the deaths just to keep the game footage rolling

  • I see, still, real good gameplay nevertheless. I have this version on virtual console and never managed to complete it yet.

Another question! How the hell do you do a slide? It just seems to happen very rarely after a jump.

  • you know i cant bieleve the gaming industry got mad about it. i mean your not killing people. your killing made up monsters

  • Seriously. The only thing I can think of that would upset people is the fight with Evil Cross, which is an inverted cross (satanic symbol). People need to get over themselves :|.

  • Its also the symbol for Saint Peter, and teh Atheist Church.

  • it's acutally "Saint Peter's Cross". look it up.

  • Heh, I remember when this game stirred up a whole bunch of shit because of it's "gore". Damn i'm getting old...

  • nice job beat the entire game only died 2 times thats pretty impressive

  • and I still find the part sad when Jennifer dies(I know it not Jennifer)it just the music hearing the music makes me wanna cry

  • omg how can you pass stage 6? I can't get pass that stage it's so hard with all the bubbles coming up from the floor and coing down from the ceiling and also there 2 difference in this game from the PC engine and tubrografx 1st your mask is white but red in the turbografx and the boss at stage 4 you have a cross you have to hit but it's a blue mask on the turbografx's game

  • this is the american in the japanse the hat the cleaver and also the gore

  • It's not the japanese version that has all that.

It's the Arcade version. They had to water it down so that the turbographix console could handle it.

  • Nice punctuation.

  • about time I saw this game completed!! I own this game, as well as the other 2 for the genesis... and the Famicom version (which is the easiest out of the entire series!!)

  • man i used to love playing this game. Course i tried playing it now and i suck ass lol

  • I love this game. I love the credit music, it says its by Chopin. Is it true? Do you know where I can find some mid file or the soundtrack?

  • Yeah music for splatterhouse is fucking awesome. Whoever composed the music sure deserves credit

  • Thanks for posting the whole game. I enjoyed it; brings back memories of TG16.

  • The Floating heads are Called Evil sleep and the Nightmares Sounds like a Name of an 80s Rock band!

  • a The Misfits rejects, as a matter of fact!

  • is there anywhere i can download and play this

  • at 13:45 is that Jenifer who dies at the end of the fight? if it is her i find it sad that she vanishes after what rick done to her but it had to be done

  • Well, you find out later when you play Splatterhouse 2 for the Genesis that she was alive all along and Evil Baddies or w/e tricked Rick into thinking she was dead.

  • oh that's a relief but I feel glad she still alive

  • whoa 3:33 - 4:25 the room is alive

  • Great game. Great run. Thanks. Plus, on level 6, are those babies in bubbles are like demon alien babies?

  • Good run there, I've played 2 and 3 but not this one but it sure did look good.

  • I could've sworn that the TG-16 version took out the inverted cross and replaced it with a head... oh well

  • This is actually the Japanese version hes playing. The American version has rick in a screwed up red mask and the inverted cross replaced with a floating dumb head.

  • This is the American version, I just checked my emulator.

  • Really? I since when did the American version keep the floating cross?

    I'm confused now lol

  • one of the heads orbiting the cross is slobulus, one of the madballs.

  • 2:06 my favorite stage

  • I've finished Splatterhouse 2 and it was awesome! 3rd wasnt so good, and I havent played this one but looks great! 5*

  • Awesome! I now know how to kill the mutant girlfriend, and that mutant flying head thing in the chapel. I also noticed that on the Virtual console, the flying heads middle is a blue face, and on this version it is a cross....Also the last boss comes out a tombstone instead of a cross on the virtual console.............Thanks...... (:

  • its out for virtual console, too. i love this game. the guy looks too much like jason vorhee

  • i hate mosquitoes

  • memories

  • u rock

  • The music in this is fukken awersome. I esp. love the bgm from the boss with the chainsaws, the church, the womb, and the final stage. Pretty much the whole damn thing. I wonder which Chopin songs those are. Good game play, by the way. I used to play this for the TG-16 to death and I got fairly good at it, but not quite as good. I think the only I thing I used to do differently is keeping both shotguns to kill off the chainsaw boss.

  • This game freaked me out as a kid. I had Turbo Grafix 16. Friggin memories!

  • shame about the ending

  • So creepy... I love it! Although, I've only played the one for Famicom; Wanpaku Graffiti. It was a huge inspiration for my game, MADHOUSE... If you like Slaughterhouse, then you should check out my game! Go to madhousegame dot com!
