that aasnt the 2012 gtr. 0-60 in 3.5 the 2012 does it in 2.8 it would have probley won if that was the case. still 2 amazing cars and that LFA sounds like an orgasm from god
On another note, Looking at the styling of the GT-R, It is the facelifted newer model which does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds w/ launch. That's .6 seconds faster than the time recorded in this drag race, which would have made a difference on the outcome. This begs the question as to why MotorTrend decided to run this race as they did, as it does not reflect the true performance of the two cars in question accurately.
There is a problem with this race. "The Nissan hits 60 in just 3.5 seconds". But it is well known that the GT-R does 0-60 in 3.2 (old version) and 2.9 (new version) utilizing its launch control. Thus, this drag race doesn't really test the GT-R using everything it's got.
Regarding the LFA, It runs 0-60 in 3.6 seconds with launch control, so one must conclude that This race was done most likely without launch control, and without drivers competent enough to fully utilize their respective cars.
Now take the GT-R Alpha 9 and do this test again and then lets see who wins :P hahaha Well I love both cars. LFA pretty pricey but still an amazing piece.
Now Nissan go invest 400k into a GTR n let's see what happens. Lol. Nah... The LFA is expensive, not because its performance, but because of its engineering step. It's something for the future.
@lReziqn F1 = more than 4 Million Dollars = 800hp, you can have a GTR with a lot of more hp with not much money. Where's the purpose of your analogy. You're comparing a state of art machine with a farm pseudo-engineering?
@fragosomusic When you buy a LFA you're paying, engineering, research and a lot of stuff that you dont pay in GTR. R35 is a great machine but its other category.
LFA is Exotic, GTR isnt.
If you want to compare with GTR, put a BMW M5 or a C63 AMG, or something like that.
why race the the 2012 LFA against the 2010 GTR? the 2012 GTR ran 11.2 (six tenths of a second faster than the 2012 LFA) against the zo6 and the shelby gt500 in the other Motor Trend video...
@mowglie607 Well it was not a prototype but maybe thats it. But, the lfa is not suppose to be THE fastest car, its designed to deliver all the best driving thrills and it does!! It is a wonderful car one of my favourite i have massive respect for toyota.
i used to hate that LF-A for it's price tag n i loved the GTR over it, but after some research and readings i figured out that the LF-A is DAMN GREAT CAR !
If thats all an extra 315,000 big ones gives you, i wouldnt bother. In fact, i wouldnt bother with either of these, id buy a proper car. A Lamborghini Aventador :)
To compare two supercars like this is ridicolous and pointless. The real sense of it, al the fine tuning of chassis, suspensions brake systems aerodynamics is all about making the lap time on a demanding track. If you just want to win a drag race, purchase a used V6, turbocharge it to the extreme, trow out everything which gives real value to a car (its electronics, any confort, forget about build quality), fit everything an a rod and go...
@yoshyoka So you buy a supercar to look good in it. That's perfectly fine, whatever floats your boat. But to say comparing comparable things is pointless is simplistic and unrealistic. You think the Bugatti engineers DIDN'T know they were building the "fastest" supercar on the road? As long as Lexus builds a "supercar", it will be judged and compared to other supercars. Paying 400k for something that can be matched by a 85k "comfortable" daily driver is (pick your analogy).
@iambiggus You missed my point. I don't care to look good in it. What I state is that a supercar comparison should also comprehend a time race on a track which test all the qualities of a car: dynamic behaviour, stability, handling, braking. Than they should also be compared on the streets and see how the suspensions hadle it. In real life, the dest super car is the one which takes you from A to B in the least amount of time, and unless you live in a desert it is not a straight line.
Caddy CTS-V 1hp=$116. Vette ZR1 = $157. GTR=$160. LFA= $679(!). All of these cars post comparable #'s, all do </= to 4s 0-60's, all do </= 11s 1/4 miles, one costs 400k, the rest less than 100k. I think the reason people (including myself) gripe on the LFA is it's ridiculous cost/performance. 10 years of R & D and 400k later you can beat one with a Vette, keep up with a GTR, and peg one with a Caddy. If you buy one to be exclusive you're not a car guy, you're form over function.
@iambiggus: Thats because the Lexus LFA is a Supercar. Supercar's performance is not built to a price point. Overall build quality, high quality materials all around inside and out, research, design and performance is what supercars are all about. The Nissan GTR, ZR1, and the CTSV are all great great cars. But the LFA is well worth its price tag.
@V8Supercar1 In my opinion a supercar should be just that, super. Lexus did an unbelievable job creating it's LFA and I won't argue that, but to have all other criteria met other than performance is again, in my opinion, mind boggling and not worth the $400k price tag. Do I still want one? Of course. I can dream AND play the lotto.
@Billboard2001 Wrong, it's called personal preference. An opinion which you may have difficulty understanding thus and resorting to trolling when others do not share your idea, so fan boy or buster? I prefer fan boy.
You have to admit the LFA is sick. GT-R is also sick but LFA is just a bit more with look and engine. And idk why people flip about the price it compares to ferrari and its made by the luxury side of toyota, lexus. the gt-r is not luxury its actual nissan not infinity. See the difference. overall just as a GT-R is awesome the LFA is sick cuz off it's look
Yeah Nissan GTR all day. Until Toyota decides to step their game up, I cannot take them seriously. Every Toyota on the road automatically reminds me of a 90's Avalon. Simple as that.
@dominicflores2010 you are right, if you look at the other video the gtr vs z06 vs 500gt the gtr runs 11.2 on this one it's running 11.9 .... I call bs
for 330k more it better beat a gtr by more that a half a car lenght, by the way that was a first gen gtr, i dont think it would beat the new gtr if it only beat the old one by such a small margin. 400k fail, you might as well buy a 458 and a aventador for all that money
@obliqr this car was not meant to be a "you get 500x more than what you pay for" This car was made to be a rare exclusive exotic. only 400 will be made.
This car was made to be rare and exclusive, not bang for buck. Sure the gtr is fast.. But this car is more rare. Lexus didnt want the lfa to be a tuner car that street racers put stickers and turbos on getting in street races. Its in the class of enzos etc. rare and super expensive not bang for buck. People want bang for buck, buy a muscle car and drop a motor and you can run 10s. You want a track car grt a gtr. U want to look like the coolest richest guy on the block, get an lfa
@CJAEY The problem is that the kind of person that would buy a GTR would never buy a LFA and vice versa. A GTR owner wants to drive and an LFA owner wants to show off. Toyota really hasn't made anything in the real realm of sports cars for awhile. The bland uninteresting designs and lack of performance inovation has hurt the pre 1997 Toyota fan base and now 400k later, really?? But I would buy the GTR even if I did have the money for a LFA. Tell the truth I'd buy 4 and get better resale value.
@CJAEY what are you babbling about? The GTR was NOT built to be "the fastest production car out there" (whatever that means) Fastest 1/4 mile? Fastest 1/8 mile? Fastest top speed? I can think of a few production cars that Rival the GTR's times. Ever heard of a the new 5.4 Supercharged mustang? Or maybe the new 6.2 liter corvette, camaro and cadillac CTS-v (all of which have superchargers)? Each one of these cars costs around $50k (maybe 60k at most) and all hit 11 seconds in the 1/4 mile
Yeah bring the supra back! But honestly I don't think a 1/4 mile drag means crap, the GT-R can turn way harder then the LFA, but honestly it's down to peoples preferences
I would just get the gt-r. An all wheel drive car is hard to beat off the line stock. Horse power is nothing if you can't put it to the ground. Any real racer knows that.
Nearly 100k for a high 11 second 1/4 mile car...pass. And 400k for one that's only a hair faster? For 20k you can build a car that's easily a low 11 second/high 10 second car. Crazy prices.
@usnsailor20 Anyone can do that if you have the money, but the LFA isn't market towards that type of demographic. It's market towards the rich with a taste for supercars. They are both great cars I would love to have both of them, but if you were to give me a choice between the LFA or the GTR? I'd take the LFA. That's just me though. To each to their own.
I like both cars, but when you can get the GTR for under 100k and then put the stage 1 kit on it bumping it up to 700hp, spend another 300K on the LFA
@scfog90 how said already CJAEY, and others adequate people - it's absolutely incorrect to compare those two cars.. Will you compare Ferrari 599 and Supra? Of cource fucking not!!! Will you compare Bentley Continental and Ford gt????? fucking no! LFA and GT-R is two amazing, but absolutely different things! Gt-r was made originally for fastest cornering, it's fast, it's reliable, it has 4 seats and boot, it's even expensive - stunning sports car! LFA - unique status-showing supercar
@scfog90 if you like - gtr was made to be great pal for burn-out, drag racing and cornering, it's an RACING icon. LFA it's not a racing car. It's just Lexus/Toyota attempt to make something iconic and nominal, like "Japan Aston Martin" or, I don't know, "Asian Ferrari", whatever. However, price could be 100k less, I think, but)
Toyota really needs to bring back the Supra (and not change the styling too much, it's perfect as is). Imagine being able to own a NEW one instead of having to shop around for one with low miles (rare feat) and one that hasn't been abused? There's sellers that sell them with 76k-90k miles for $25,000. Shoot, if a new one was available to get through a car loan but with no miles then I would totally take on the debt. Sweet performance sports car!!
as much as a fanatic of toyota I am. I would still buy a gtr and upgrade it. However give me that engine in the LFA and put it in a FT86 or AE86 man i can see fun. SOOOO how much for the Engine? lmao
The Lexus looks more a Nissan then the Nissan. When you're spending that kind of money, the style should be MUCH more "supercar like". Of course, with the top Supercars (Bugatti and Aston One-77) costing $1million+++, the Lexus is more like "entry level" (LOL) Supercar...
Makes sense...but in their ultimate drag race video they had 11 cars including these two and the GTR shit all over everything. The nissan driver in this one sucks, proven
The biggest thing people need to realize is that you more than likely get more pussy when you roll up in a LFA than if you roll up in a GTR....THE END.
ok this was one test... the 1/4 mile. I'm sure Toyota doesn't expect people to pay 400k for 1/4 mile times. I mean an ugly ass foxbody with 20k dumped in it would beat that. But that's not the point of this car. But I have a volvo so what do I know.
Jap cars are an embarrassment , you should be ashamed to own an asian car

I would just get the gt-r. An all wheel drive car is hard to beat off the line stock. Horse power is nothing if you can't put it to the ground. Any real racer knows that.

Nearly 100k for a high 11 second 1/4 mile car...pass. And 400k for one that's only a hair faster? For 20k you can build a car that's easily a low 11 second/high 10 second car. Crazy prices.
usnsailor20 1 week ago
@usnsailor20 Anyone can do that if you have the money, but the LFA isn't market towards that type of demographic. It's market towards the rich with a taste for supercars. They are both great cars I would love to have both of them, but if you were to give me a choice between the LFA or the GTR? I'd take the LFA. That's just me though. To each to their own.

I like both cars, but when you can get the GTR for under 100k and then put the stage 1 kit on it bumping it up to 700hp, spend another 300K on the LFA
lewis8840 1 week ago
400K???? fuck that. why not just buy a lambo aventador with that money
ryu1036 1 week ago
400.000 against 85.000 haha!! Toyota still sucks.

@scfog90 Do you often shop at walmart?
strangerindanger 1 week ago
@scfog90 how said already CJAEY, and others adequate people - it's absolutely incorrect to compare those two cars.. Will you compare Ferrari 599 and Supra? Of cource fucking not!!! Will you compare Bentley Continental and Ford gt????? fucking no! LFA and GT-R is two amazing, but absolutely different things! Gt-r was made originally for fastest cornering, it's fast, it's reliable, it has 4 seats and boot, it's even expensive - stunning sports car! LFA - unique status-showing supercar
SublimeOrange 1 week ago
@scfog90 if you like - gtr was made to be great pal for burn-out, drag racing and cornering, it's an RACING icon. LFA it's not a racing car. It's just Lexus/Toyota attempt to make something iconic and nominal, like "Japan Aston Martin" or, I don't know, "Asian Ferrari", whatever. However, price could be 100k less, I think, but)
SublimeOrange 1 week ago
@scfog90 TOYOTA ? HAHHAHA
piterken107 1 week ago
@piterken107 You should know that Lexus is owned by Toyota, so its Toyatas engineers working on the LFA!! HAHAHAHA about your comment!! Idiot
scfog90 1 week ago
@scfog90 but is more fast the lamborghini gallardo lp560-4 in the topgear test track, and have a tecnology playstation, so toyota is not sucks.
JT1000RS 1 week ago
@scfog90 400.000 vs 85.000 your using decimals separate cash values so are you saying
400 dollars vs 85 dollars. Also it seems your saying 400 dollars vs 85 dollars like if money was fighting.
WatcherofTapes 1 week ago
@WatcherofTapes wtf?? you smoke sth?? I dont if it seems like money would be "fighting". It a competition between two spotscars!! So gtfo

Sweet performance sports car!!

the LFA looks and sounds amazing!!!
But the heavy GT-R is still faster to 60mph...?!
and when you put a tuning into the gt-r, that he would have the same HP like the LFA, i guess the LFA would loose on the quater mile...

as much as a fanatic of toyota I am. I would still buy a gtr and upgrade it. However give me that engine in the LFA and put it in a FT86 or AE86 man i can see fun. SOOOO how much for the Engine? lmao
GamerToosmart 2 weeks ago
ok now putthis against the 400 grand gtr 2012 black edition
SuperRehank 2 weeks ago
The Lexus looks more a Nissan then the Nissan. When you're spending that kind of money, the style should be MUCH more "supercar like". Of course, with the top Supercars (Bugatti and Aston One-77) costing $1million+++, the Lexus is more like "entry level" (LOL) Supercar...

Price really makes no sense, What if you bought a GT-R and spent the rest tuning it to the price tag of the LFA? That would be a rocket.
petaredrev 2 weeks ago
ok this was one test... the 1/4 mile. I'm sure Toyota doesn't expect people to pay 400k for 1/4 mile times. I mean an ugly ass foxbody with 20k dumped in it would beat that. But that's not the point of this car. But I have a volvo so what do I know.
