I was thinking back to 1980 when this album was released and by far Grace Jones or any reputed disco artist was more so in the mainstream than a New Wave act and could therefore (for better or worse) reach a larger audience ("The Normal originally recorded the song "Warm Leatherette".)
Best wishes for a very Happy Holiday season and New Year
Best underground cut that did not get serious rotation!!!! Changed up the mood in the Garage and at Zans .....But dig this... The floor was packed!!!!!!
In my opinion, she highly improved on the original. The whole album is interesting and highly imaginative and I'm all for making music by the Pretenders, Roxy Music or the Normal available to the mainstream.
@Neptunesque I'd actually say that the Pretenders and Roxy Music are more mainstream than Grace is (I've never heard of the Normal so I don't know about them.) but I agree with your sentiment, anyway!
brilliant cover!

I think the best version is by Massive Attack, but good for her for doing this song.

After listening to the original, Grace Jones' version sounds like it was the way the song was supposed to sound. I love it!
