when i read it, i didn't think it had to do with religion at all. actually, i thought of the narrator as an alien overlooking earth's society lol. it wasn't until i looked down at the comments then reread the piece (for like the 15th time) that i saw how it could be interpreted as God. oh well, i still love the piece and i'll continue to interpret it the way i initially did.

@booyahceebshere I read it like if it was the voice of the mainstream, the voice of the shared knowledge of humanity. I'm guessing God didn't anesthetize us, and aliens don't control us (as the voice implies). I just feel that everything the voice says is something different people or institutions would say. "We keep you anesthetized" is the media. "You are taxed livestocks, numbers on our screens" is the government and corporations. And "turn off your tv" is the people who realize all of this.

As humans have figured out how to have easily available food and have developed consciousness, they look for meaning behind their existence, and when it is nowhere to be found, they turn to ideas that will create it for them.

I feel that that human beings are raised with an idea that life is so limited and only one way, yet if we look deep into what we really are there is much more to it. We are so limited by this "logic" we are taught and also by a language that can only label and compare, yet our true existence transcends what we are taught to think is "reality."

I have no idea where to start but these thoughts are so beautiful lyrically and thought-wise. It reminds me of Fitter Happier - Radiohead but to be very honest, the words are so much more passionate and I can't spot what's so great about it, must be everything.
