  • Im still waiting for the sliding tubes

  • lol Ray Bradbury

  • Its 2011. wheres my damn hovercar and robot pal(and not the kind that they try to make look like humans even though its creepy as all hell. serious uncanny valley).

  • Ah, but what of the classic Brave New Prunes! Have I been lied to?

  • I love well known celebrities doing spoofs, but only when it works, and this one does.

  • Bradbury and Freberg together? Genius.

  • Where's my pneumatic tubes?

  • I'm sure Ray Bradbury is rolling in his grave. I mean who would want to cheapen such great literary works just to sell a few more prunes?

  • @poleethman Ray Bradbury isn't dead yet.

  • No stories about prunes? How about the illustrated prune? Prune 451? Dandelion prune?

  • Well, there actually WERE some "people tubes" by the year 2001 - the tall TWIN tubes that got blown up that year in New York, and those other super-popular tubes... known as You Tube videos!

  • This is absolutely fantastic! What a gem!

  • And in the future, women will be singing songs about how they want to f*ck him.

  • happy birthday mr. bradbury!!!

  • Ray Bradbury appeared in a Japanese TV commercial around 1983 (I believe it was a whisky ad.) Does someone have it? I can't find even a reference to that even on wikipedia...

  • Ah, the genius of Stan Freberg!

  • That is great. That is wow. Hell yeah! Ray Bradbury prunes!

  • Wow. Now that's hilarious.

  • The irony here is, even though this didn't happen, I got to actually meet Ray Bradbury that very year and shake his hand.

  • Where is my people tube?

  • 0:21 i always think i'm going to hear that record-scratch noise that's used so often

  • SUNSWEET MARCHES ON!!!

  • Graet comment on how the media tries to sell us EVERYTHING - from politic parties to political correctness, from beans to prunes, - by making it look gloriously inviting.

  • greatest commercial ever

  • 2001 passed and its nothing like that commercial

  • we should be more overall advanced than we are now. The only thing that has really become "futuristic" is cell phones, laptops and tvs.

  • yeah that is true its just funny what people at that time thought of the year 2000.

  • read "the veldt" by bradbury. such an amazing time i had readin that, and i dont even like to read.

  • Prune juice. A warrior's drink.

  • AMAZING. Ray Bradbury ROCKS IT!

  • @gollum42 R is For "Rocks it!" :-)

  • 2001 LOL

  • I get the big 3.1 lb bags of Mariani Premium Pitted Prunes at our local Sam's Club here in SC. They are inexpensive and good for you. They give you energy, make you full, make you feel good and happy, keep you regular and you do not waste time straining on the toilet. What more can you ask for? I like to eat 3 or 4 at a time several times a day. Please take my advice and you will feel like a new person after a week of antioxidizing your body.

  • you are 92 year old.

haha, just kidding, maybe I will try it.

  • I would love to eat a prune or a date right now, not sure why.

  • "Sunsweet marches on!"

    Funny crap. Thank you! 5*

  • Yum! Prunes! Don't eat too many!! LOL

  • this commercial actually seems pretty modern in comparison to the other stuff of the time.

  • haha yeah, 2001 was EXACTLY like this. haha

  • @PuppyLuver160 Yeah I wonder where is my tube is?

  • @PuppyLuver160 It's pretty much how I remember 2001. Especially the prunes.

  • This was such a good commercial! really it was so funny. I might be biased because RAy's in it but still! If only commercials were still like this. Now we're stuck with a housewife getting stalked by her old mop after switching to swiffer =P

  • well, the wall to wall t.v. part is TRUE! BIGGER T.V'S so you can watch MORE FUN STUFF. I personally can't wait for the next MADONNA Special, " HOW I was born in Michigan and Now I have a british accent!" it must be the prunes...lol

  • 2001?

    haha.

  • The box set "Tip of the Freberg" contains a VHS tape version with several of Stan Freberg's commercials. This one's included.

  • I hadn't considered prunes before.

  • Btw awesome landing from the tube. Very stylish.

  • Sunsweet's Wrinkle Technicians will, one day, conquor that too!

Not only now do I want to be a wrinkle technician, it's nice to see that such a distinguished author can poke a bit of fun at himself. I suppose he got paid.

Kudos to Sunsweet for the ad though. Very spacey. :P

  • This is awesome. Sunsweet should put this commercial on air!

  • Ow, my brain...

  • Props to the commercial's creator: Stan Freeberg. Genius!

  • Hi Ironbear. How did you come to know Stan Freeberg did this commercial? Do you have a date (year) for it? Thanks for info!

  • Stan Freeberg did the Sunsweet campaign.

    Stan is the announcer here.

  • "Today The Pit- Tomorrow The Wrinkle!"

Freberg was pure comic genius! He also did the Geno's Pizza Roll ads w/ Lone Ranger and Tonto.

  • He did another Sunsweet commercial with Wally Cox as an unwilling participant that I've been dying to see for ages (hint hint? anyone?)

  • wrinkle technicians!

  • Haha, T.V wall-to-wall? It can't happen!

    Bradbury looks kinda awkward :S

    Cool video thanks 5/5 :D

  • Where are my people tubes!?

  • I knoooww, I want some!

    And non-wrinkled prunes too!

  • Candied! Ha!

  • How come I missed that 7 years ago??!

  • wow..........2001? ha!

  • This is awesome!

  • Where the hell is MY pneumatic people tube?!

  • epic.

  • lol
