Every time I here this song it knocks me out.......it shuda gotten more airplay.... great song and arrangement ....thanks for posting.......by the way to the people that want a good copy of this song you can get the mp3 right off this post ... that way you can keep it forever...just google "how do I get an mp3 off youtube" then you are on your way....
@Mpd10206 haha, could be, i actually thought at first that it's really someone's recording from one of their gigs, and that the uploader who added this..Ramita-whatever.. actually used the LP version, but great either way..i loved them growing up.. this song was NOT played very much in 82 (i was 10 that year) on the stations..for about 4 weeks, and then never again..Sweetheart however enjoyed LOTS of play for about 4 yrs after 1981, but now i never hear IT either on radiio anymore!! lol
@Mpd10206 Everyone lipp synced on American Bandstand - John Cougar (his name at the time) went so far as to have his drummer "air drum" and the other guy in his band play a washboard when her was on AB doing "I Need A Lover" - Dick Clarke what a jackass
@shyman99 if you comb thru some record bins in thrift shops, etc, or even check Ebay, etc.. but this was NEVER re-released on CD.. the album this was on .. BELOW THE BELT... great cover, and every song on the album is good!!! i had it before but not now..it IS around still waiting for you to find it :-)
@shyman99 oh ok, thanks! well you know how things get confusing sometimes on here.., yes, i loved Franke and the Knockouts growing up..class act..it actually took me awhile to find the 3 studio albums..the 1st self titled one, and then Below The Belt, and finally Makin' The Point...the one w/ the dice on the cover i think..
Hey Everyone, you can hit up Franke Previte on Facebook and also they just started a Franke and the Knockouts Facebook page as well. It is refreshing to find someone who runs their own page and it turns out Franke is a great guy. Just some FYI for everyone so you can keep current. Also, they are just about to release a Greatest Hits CD.
oh.. who remembers rollerskating to this? this is one of my& my wife's "songs" .. a love song for all times!!! ... rock it out Frankie.. catagorized as a love song band they are a AOR band.. hard rock for sure.. !! .. Have all3 of their LP's on vinyl.. :) doesn't everyone? ... :)
In 1979 I was in a band that was recording it's debut album at Capitol Records in Los Angeles. The engineer that was doing our record, Charles Farris, was leaving for New York to go engineer a new band at the time called Frankie & The Knockouts. That's how I first heard of them and from the first moment I heard them, I loved them and still do !! Totally under-appreciated & all but ignored. Fantastic, musical, melodic, emotional, beautiful, great songs. Frankie's voice is KILLER too !!
@scooterpiefauntleroy Damn, if y'all could have hung on for a couple more years I think you could have ridden that Mtv wave of metal bands like The Scorpions. I'm not into metal but two of the songs I listened to were not bad. Then again, I guess a lot of it is being in the right place at the right time. Plenty of great bands that never made it.
I tell ya, the Early 80's were just great. I remember turing 15 in the summer of 1980 and the fog of disco was just lifting and some really great bands started to give us a new sound. Franke and the Knockouts, imho, were a band that deserved way more credit than they have ever received. Great sound, great lyrics and a terrific lead singer in Franke Previte. This is my favorite song by them.

I have always wanted to get a clip of this song. Fantastic background harmonies. A very solid record. Back when there was good music on the radio.

Beowulf. Why? Who might you be?

@scooterpiefauntleroy Does your old band have any songs on Youtube? Based on the name I'm guessing it was a heavy metal band?
ar4216 7 months ago
@ar4216 Search the name "Chuck Gauld" here in youtube (no that's not me) and you will find the band "Beowulf".
