Loved this theme as a kid. My favorite was 'Terror of Rome against the son of Hercules' with Mark Forest. This film also had a comic relief Christian which was quite funny. Lol.
These movies were not THAT bad, and a few even had some interesting elements to them -- and I love that theme music, though it was the end credit music that I liked even better. I was in bed with pneumnia for two months in 1966-67, and got to see every one of these on Channel 9 in New York during that time (along with the half-hour Gunsmokes and a lot of other net stuff). Would love to know who's playing that guitar!
Ha ha ha LMAO....Such a stupid and silly set of flicks for such a foot-moving themesong.....I drove my mom crazy too singing that silly song.....Now that I reflect...I am laughing so hard...I am peeing in my pants....Hee haaa heee.
@MORKOS621 My favorite is MACISTE IN HELL, which takes place in 17th century Scotland. About 20 minutes in, this shirtless guy in a loincloth rides in and none of these Scottish puritans think anything is weird about it!
@DavePI2 ...I always enjoyed Hercules in the Haunted World, and Hercules in the Land of Darkness. You're so correct when you say these were terrible movies, but, even though, I was glued to the TV week in and week out.
They put these on Sunday mornings in Nashville back in the late 60s. (OK, so I lived down in Huntsville, Ala., at the time, but we got it on cable!) Fascinating movies nevertheless.
@zekepig OMG, you remember that? I used to watch them on Sunday when I was a kid. It drove my mom crazy, because we were watching TV instead of getting ready for church. BTW, we didn' t have cable in the 60s, did we? I just thought the signal went all the way down to Alabama.
Certain Nodrog watched these adventure films as a young man dreaming of rescuing damsels in distress or fighting for a New World Order. His Nordic heritage reminds many of his likeness to Thor, we still call him "The Hammer"
This was a pretty awful show but I loved watching it and the theme music was really cool. I remember the Medusa was nothing like in the mythology but was really creepy!
"You little bastard! I told ya to TURN THAT TV OFF!!!" Ahhh...1971 in Chicago and my dad screaming at me from his bedroom as some of the episodes would run well into the midnight hour (well past my ten pm curfew bedtime) At the time I thought those days were 'hell on earth' and yet, now...I-I somehow miss them...:(
OMG! It's 1971 all over again! I'm 11 and tripping on this theme song. And of course all of the waay different 'sons' that Hercules seemed to have sired. And of the also waay cool avdventures: 'Mole people against the Son of Hercules' 'Ulysses against the Son of Hercules', 'The Witch of Stygia against the Son of Hercules' and of course my fave: "Devil of the Desert...AGAINST the SON of HERCULES!"
I am having a argument with my kids. Does anyone remember the Sons of Hercules of TV shows. Someone confirm to me that one of the Sons of Hercules actually came out of the ground by lifting a tree straight up and tossing it aside.
Yes, I remember these shows because I watched every one of them religiously. Great theme song and I loved the episodes as well. I was around 5-10 in the 60s. Great years.
He's right. You can't stop singing it. What an ultra cool show. It not only inspired me to become a bodybuilder, but taught me altruism, honesty and courage, as a small boy - traits that sometimes seem sorely lacking in todays young men.
Beware!! You will find, that you CANT get this song out of your head! its there forever!! you;ll find yourself singing it,like Peter from family guy sings surfin bird!

Doesn't get any better than this. Or worse. I can't tell you the way we used to sing this in 1967 without having my mother frown.

Actually, Perseus was the grandfather of Hercules, not one of his sons.

@MORKOS621 It's OK, pretty much all of these guys were actually MACISTE in the original Italian.

This sure does sound like the same guy who sings the Underdog theme song.

The only one of these I saw was the Perseus one. Though inaccurate, kinda fun, like the theme song. Makes me feel epic.

@LivingCrusader The Terror of Rome and Messalina were the ones that I saw.

You should also post the closing credits song, which is equally great. Loved the series when I was a kid.
"They are there when the need arrives,
They are proof that might and right still survive.
On land or on the seas...
As long as there is need...
There'll be Sons of Hercules...
There'll...
Be...
Sons of Herculeeeeeeees!"

Who sung this song? I have been looking everywhere and can't find it anywhere! By the way, this is my ring tone....

Son's Of Hercules ring tone? Finally solid evidence that there are people somewhere on this planet that are as weird as me.
