Like they said some people there didnt have the knowledge that boiling water will kill all bacteria. How would you like to have to get your water from a filthy lake then boil only 5 gallons at most just to wash your family. Thats a lot of work.
I think that most people take proper sanitation for granted, and that is a terrible mistake. There is very little difference between the billionaire and the African child dying of dysentery besides having a good plumber.
The people should be taught to respect water as a "holy" resource as it is life giving and once corrupt, will be a source of great evil. The Red Indians of America in the old days preserved the quality of their water throughout the America continent for thousands and thousands of years. Red Indians were very healthy until European settlers gave them small pox and bullets, fired in anger! 6 million died from pox and millions died from systemic slaughter. Yet their idea about holy water is correct
haven't you ever wondered why they weren't smart enough to build aqueducts to these villages? i mean if the greeks could do it 3000 years ago then why cant these people?
Greeks weren't the ones who built the aquidacts, it were Romans, and it wasn't 3000 years ago, but a little over 2000 years ago. And don't say "they weren't smart enough" unless you know what you are talking about; learn the history of people you judge, and even then you have no right to judge them, unless you walk in their shoes.
Actually it has to do with a little something known as gravity, water doesn't flow uphill. Even in areas where there is a river nearby drilling a well is usually a safer, more economical method to provide water to people; the initial costs are far less in both labor and materials, a well is far less likely to be polluted because the earth itself will filter out most of what will harm you.
For the record, your comment makes you look like a complete retard.
its sad why doesnt the goverment make god damn pipes instead of guns, i mean yh it would increase the world population but i mean u could kill then when there like older looool, or not.. just y not make pipes man!!
How many millions of dollars does it take to move that fucking drill to another spot that needs this BOREHOLE? This is UNACCEPTABLE, and these African leaders don't do shit except ask for more money. How many millions and billions does it take? Someone reply with an answer because all of these organizations suck.
Actually the costs of drilling a well are relatively low, especially considering what is gained of it. What people like you do not realize is that where you find people living in squalor you will find political instability, political stability costs people like you millions yearly.
You should have seen the trouble my unit went through to get some wells drilled in Afghan villages -- from contractors getting kidnapped to village leaders getting threatened to the money and equipment for the project being stolen. The Taliban did whatever they could to prevent people from getting a leg up.
"one child dies every 15 seconds due to diseases caused by a lack of access to decent drinking water, to poor hygiene, to bad sanitation.".... pls support, pls try to do something... to save them, save ourselves..

What third world countries need.
1. More housing project plans and homes built.
2. Farming and Agriculture for their food.
3. Domesticating animals for healthy meat.
4. Water pipelines for clean drinking water.

Sadly people do take sanitation for granted. And when we ignore it, then it becomes quite a problem.
