So u may be mixed and speak spanish but haiti is a creole latino island. Hispaniola is a predominantly black island the caucasians are a minority. The difference is that Haiti had 500,000 African slaves as opposed to 100,000 in DR. I am Haitian and here in DR I tell them I am from Haiti and say "stop joking, why you say you Haitian". Just so you know, whenever you go to a latin club, and you hear Merengue or Bachata being played and everybody is dancing and having a good time... That came from the small island called Dominican Republic... :-) It's famous all over Latin America... :-) Dominicans have a very rich culture. A nice blend of African, Taino and European.
