Beautiful blade Gav. Take a look at the Kabar TDI series. Similar in idea of yours but alot smaller. There are some vids on YT on it. Maybe you can get some inspiration from it & design a titanium version. Its designed for LE by LE as a weak side back up knife & weapon retention blade.
@biffisawshome yes. triangular blades were commonly carried by women in the middle ages as their anti rape tools. (or so i've heard) i would love to have a triangular blade, after all, i would not pull a knife on anyone unless i intended to use it to full effect.
for the purpose of fighting/self defense, a longer, narrower, and double sided blade is better. (ala fairbain).
the shape of your knife lends itself to slashing; but when you're looking to kill someone as quickly as possible, the best way to do that is to puncture vital organs. (heart, lungs, etc.)
@akim333 thanks for the tip man. like i said, i have absolutely no experience or training in such a things. the opinions tend to differ as i noticed. i guess it depends on the type of martial arts or self defense methods. some people prefer slicing, some stabbing... i think me personally if i ever have to use such a tool, i would be slashing and backing off trying to escape rather then close in for stabbing. but who know, better not even think about such a situations lol... thanks, cheers :)
@akim333 Actually, the best thing for self defense/killing is a three-sided knife, they even outlawed it in the army because you can't stitch up a hole like you can a slash, lol.
@akim333 I agree. For a fast draw slash its perfect. For penetration its good with the thickness. But having such a wide blade isn't so great. It means more blade you must "force" through the target to reach organs protected by bone. I would suggest a cross draw belt carry so its accessible by either hand if needed but primarily a strong side slash across the abdomen area (usually left open). Gav.,Take a look at the Kabar TDI series. I carry one & love it.
Nice I like it, but I think end bit looks like it could dig into you it you were fighting with it. I think it could be more practical with a hand gard so that you can use it like a knuckle duster, if you get my meaning. However interesting carry and good deployment!
Having used a knife to save my life with I feel that this is a great blade. Good stabbing, great cutting edge and light weight. All the things I wish I would have had when I was in the military. I would use this every day.
Great knife, cool shape. If you want to get some more ideas of what actually works in the real world, I know it sounds bad, but google images of prison shanks. Its amazing the truly deadly weapons that can be fashioned, remember these guys have 24 seven to come up with this stuff, and its life or death on the line. That being said, even with the best knife in the world, its a whole mindset to actually use one on someone. Thank god most of us will never be faced with that situation.
That thing is awesome. That would make a great fighting knife and it light too. I think some people would find that little point would need to be ground down, but that would just depend on the persons style.
It's really nice but I would like to see the handle a tiny bit longer because of different types of grips but I didn't hold it so I don't fully know, but that pistol grip handle looks great.
I know a few things about knife fighting. that thing looks like it will do the job. it has a nice curve for slashing and yet enough point for stabbing. a good intermedium between the stab and slash styles.
most blades do better for one or the other. send this design into a big company and they might buy it from you.
Thats an awsome Beast. It looks like it could bite like one!! I would say used for the KALI knife fighter. It has a sharp and fast in hand look. It would be used and returned to the sheath so fast that your attacker would see his own blood before he feels the cut.
Hi, found your videos looking for customizing ideas for my BK7(nice job on yours BTW) really like this titanium knife.I would only say that the blade shape would probably work better without the "hook" so close to the grip.I could see carrying this knife with a more leaf shaped blade. Also,as one other comment noted,I would like to see more rivets in the kydex to easily adapt to multiple carry options,at least the ability to add a teklok or MALICE clip etc.for belt carry.Great work!
Thats very cool. and the overall package weight is amazing. I dont work with titanium much. But I could see something like that in 4mm 01 steel would be wicked. Weight be damned. Thanks for sharing man.
have you considerd adding a ring at the end of handle like a kerambit? dont get me wrong the blade is great , my first thought when you mentioned martial arts was kerambit.
@Elliotw11 yeah i definitely will. am curious since i have absolutely no experience or training with self defense knives and he does a lot. and hes a good buddy so will be happy to have him take a look at it.
Interesting idea for it's purpose, the light weight is amazing. I think the sheath would be better if it had a couple more rivets to allow various mounting options using paracord, say on a belt, pouch or something like that.
On another note... I would absolutely hate to see the wound that would leave after a thrust/penetration attack... man it would be blood loss for real!
I think with the way you've set up the handle and "choil" area it would be great for just that type of move... your hand and fingers both providing equal leverage in the trust.
Slashing would not be as deep as say a hawkbill or recurve, but still plenty adequate for use as such I would think.
I think the design it very nice and would be effective indeed.
I really like how it can be concealed nicely and it seems to be very unobtrusive.
I think it was a good call wrapping the handle as well, because in a defensive encounter chances are the handle might have been two thin unwrapped, thus causing the knife to torque in your hand... I think the para cord should eliminate most of that however.
We train with all types of blades... this one I could see as being effective!
Damn Gav! That is some knife, the weight is amazing and the size is great. I think its position is good also, it does look like you are reaching for your wallet
@X4CTO would you want to give it a try adn check it out brother? i wouldnt mind sending it to you to check out. sorry that i cant give it to you but totally wouldnt mind you checking it out. would actually appreciate it a lot.
Absolutely! I would be honored if you let me try it out my friend!
I could do a quick evaluation and some video on it and then get it back to you... then you can sell it and make some money, haha! I really appreciate the offer my friend.

HAHA! So you're going to keep her I see! Good deal, because this one looks very nice. You might get a few people wanting you to make one for them though, haha.
@MrSkater243 did you totally miss what i was saying? its complete opposite of the theory one knife for all. this one is one and only purpose build knife...
@VengeanceIV thanks. lol i know i talk too much sometimes but its also important to listen what is the knife about and what was it made for and with what intentions... :)
@gavkoo I think you explain that about 10 seconds before you show it haha. Anywho, personally I just don't have the patience to watch a 10 minute video, or in some cases 20+ minutes that isn't about something I came to see. This is titled: "crazy one purpose custom knife" - so that's exactly what I came here to see, your crazy one purpose custom knife! lol It's kinda the same with people that talk about a (production) sheath for 5 minutes before unsheathing the blade. XD
