Hehe, I read the Technology Trivia part. You are probably completely right! How much HD space would the entire campus have had back then? The computer i'm using to type this has a 40 GB HD, and my trusty Compaq Presario 5365 from 1999 has a 10 GB HD.
In 1985 typical computer drives would be around 10 - 20 meg . Even if there were 800 computers on that campus, total storage would have added up to under 20 gig.
Amazing by today's standards.
In 1988, I had a chat with one of Compaq's founding engineers. He had done some research and estimated there was approximately 3 terabytes of data storage in use ON THE WHOLE PLANET in 1988.
You can now (in 2009) buy 1 Terabyte external hard drives for around $100.
I've remixed this with the original music...seems to go a lot better with it.
