It seems all those who advocate the US system of healthcare highlight waiting times for patients in Canada, the UK etc. They neglect to consider those who can't afford access. So they scream and shout about waiting lists and, in the true FOX News way, totally ignore those who are not wealthy enough to access the very healthcare system they claim is so brilliant. In Canada and the UK, everyone gets healthcare. Time for people in the US to prioritise- waiting lists or the lives of millions?

Canada does have independent healthcare insurance for private rooms, better casts, better slings etc. You CAN pay for more in Canada.

I'm not sure about the about these stats, but I do know that I got an mri for my torn acl. That took three weeks and it was not a priority case.

I'm sure there are problems with the healthcare system in Canada and I hope that horror stories like this help improve the system. Thanks FOX!

I too am Canadian. Like all of the other comments posted here by the many Canadians advocating our health care system, all of my family and friends put tremendous value in our health care system. Like any system, there is always room for improvement, but our health care system works well. I can recall several years ago heading across the border to the US for the day, and getting extreme stomach pains. I went to a US hospital, but the high costs prevented me from even considering seeing a doctor.

I'm a Canadian who just moved to the UK from after living in Houston for the last 5 years. I do like the US system simply on the basis that it's quick as stated. But the bottom line is; if you don't have a pile of cash or great insurance.... then your screwed..... Long waits in Canada are do to every non contributing forign prick coming in with poor health and leaching on the system. NO JOB; NO ENTRY. there needs to be a line drawn someday

Canadian Health care system is good but not perfect. Everyone has access. I'm Canadian. Those skeptics should ask why would Canadians people defend our system so much if it wasn't good. Yes there are people who can't get excellent service in remote areas. It's a big country. There was a shortage of MRI equipment and some surgeons but that has improved.

The single payer system that would exist in America would simply be an insurance company that pays doctors. So instead of insurance companies being the middle man, the government is. Thats how medicare works, and thats how all healthcare should work. the difference between gov healthcare and private healthcare: Gov healthcare is cheaper becuse they dont take high profits out of taxes

It's not cheaper because the illusion of it being "free" increases the demand for it. Meanwhile the lack of profits decreases supply and capital investments (like MRI machines). Simple economics - higher demand/ lower supply/ higher prices. Only these higher costs are hidden in taxes and government debt.

I'm British and I think that there is nothing to fear from a state health system. I graduated from University in 1981, there was a terrible recession here then. After two years out of work I considered going to the states to look for work. I decided not to because I have a chronic illness and the medical bills would have just too high. If anything it will free people, not curtail their freedom.

Im canadian and ill admit our system isnt the greatest (in regards to wait time) but its still is better than americas system. my brother broke his nose and has it fixed in a couple days (they examined it on a tuesday i belive and it was fixed on friday) I never hear anyone say anything about how little our system cares in canada, it just doesnt happen. Theres just somthing i find wrong in that ceo's can take your money, deny care, and line there pockets with billions NOT careing for people..
