  • I had annotations off at first out of habit, and yet still instantly recognized the sound for Crystal Caves

  • It's 1994. It's Saturday morning. Cartoons are over and I've got my computer, Duke Nukem, and a bottle of Coca-Cola. Let's rock.

  • good god boppin is epic

  • birthday mode?

  • @brainstar64 When Raptor is played on those dates. You get to fight monkeys, cows and other strange things.

    March 12 Bobby Prince

    May 16 Scott Host

    August 28 Rich Fleider

    October 2 Jim Molinets

  • Rise of The Triaaaad!!! XDDDD

  • Do you have these availiable for download as separate files? That would be sweet :)

  • I played wacky wheels so much back in the day. imo the best one.

  • The Apogee theme music. Will live on for many people growing up in the 90's, including myself.

  • Man that is my childhood right there! I figured out long ago how to play the main fanfare on my electric. I was jammin with some friends one time and hit it at the end of a song and they all fell out laughing at the awesomness. I def thing the apogee logo and fanfare need to be brought back. It is culturally significant in the computer game world!

  • i have and play all these games still. even the first ones like paga and word resque. LONG LIVE APOGEE. my hart forever lies with u guys. ty for the years of games i love so much.

  • why did youtube pussy staff suspend too many channel???

they will pay with their life

    Okay?

  • Rise of the triad one looks really mysterious.

  • It's sounds so.. Texan!

  • A wild NOSTALGIA appears!

  • When I think of the early 90's when I was growing up and the very fist (and best) PC games I played, the first company that comes to mind is Apogee. So many good memories here.

  • awesome

  • i WANT APOGEE SHIRT.

  • i played and loved hocus puco all the time <3

  • I remember when i was a kid, my cousin had an copy of Blake Stone Aliens of Gold.

We killed months playing it over and over...

  • You know you're a 90s kid when you know where every single one of these came from...oh, the memories...

  • god bless apogee!!!!!!!!! that is all..

  • 1:07 - "You boys just don't geddit, do yuh?" Classic. XD

Ah, I get all choked-up with nostalgia every time I hear that classic Apogee fanfare... It means a lot to someone like me who grew up with their classic games.

  • These need to be used as a level up theme!

  • Do Apogee still make/publish games?

  • @Hazzrine under 3d realms now and i dont think so

  • What's with the birthday mode of Raptor? :DDDD Awesome!

  • BOPPIN'! HOCUS POCUS! I absolutely loved those games

  • Rise of the Triad ftw!

  • this video is basically porn to me.

  • Raptor, Hocus Pocus and Mystic Towers is the best... Apogee made the VERY BEST Games back then...

  • nostalgia immensely !

  • wacky wheels yaaaaaaehh xD

  • I HAVE ALL THESE GAMES- STILL

    DUKE NUKEM FOREVER BABY!!!

  • GOD BLESS APOGEE..... AMEN

  • God, just seeing that logo and hearing the music makes me really sad. Those were the good old days! What happened, man?

  • @PiccoloNamek

Game companies stopped caring, that's what happened.

  • Bio Menace. But in the exe catalog once it was titled Bio Hazard. I thought this corporate will buy the license from Capcom to bring this game to PC.

  • 1990-1995 Heil APOGEE! I could humm that intro tune on my death bed.

  • That logo means a lot more to me than any other logo in the world. Whatever that means :P

  • The Wacky Wheels version almost sounds like an opening for a newscast.

  • Hope a metal version version or something of this will play in the beginning in Duke Nukem Critical Mass, Chain Reaction and Proving Grounds :D

  • monster bash intro is best :p

  • <3 Hocus Pocus theme!!!!

  • apogee is part of my early teenage years

    The decade of shareware.

  • I remember having a lot of these games as a kid until I had to get rid of my DOS computer because of moving many years later. Good thing there is DosBox to allow people to relive the memories and maybe even make videos! :D

  • apogee games are still the greatest.

  • my favorite is Raptor call of shadows

    jajaj

desde qe soy un niño xD

  • I likw the ROTT one the best

  • Man, Sound Blaster really kicks. The MIDI technology on today's operating systems sounds really weird. It's a good thing DOS box can mimic the Sound Blaster.

  • @HumanDaikon Actually the Ultrasound beat the crap out of the sound blasters back then, especially on the midi side (Sound blasters only had FM music up until the Sound Blaster 16, The Sound Blaster AWE 32 was the first to have MIDI synthesis). Problem is it didn't have hardware soundblaster compatibility which was a huge mistake from Gravis since Creative had the monopoly back then. It was amazing though, when you played games which directly supported the Ultrasound.

  • fuck!!! why arn't they making games anymore???? i miss apogge so much i had all their games!!!

  • i remember having Hocus Pocus on a diskette.

used to listen to the music in the shareware demo too.

  • Apogee is the reason why I still am a PC gamer today. Too bad 3D Realms fucked up with Duke Nukem Forever, but they had it coming.

Just downloaded Bio Menace from 3D Realms' website. It was quite of an awesome game.

  • @smashbrosX7

How is it Mega Man X style? Just because it sounds all heavy metal-ish??

  • Bobby Prince. The BEST game composer ever!

  • Raptor, Duke Nukems, Monster Bash, Crystal Caves, Commander Keen... Just amazing... The old Apogee might be gone, but the new one is here... Back in action.

  • The memories - thanks for them :3

  • God, those were all FCKN NICE games

  • Alien Carnage for the win!

  • The last one was win. Batman kicks ass.

  • Duke Nukem 2 is the best

  • The best themes were the ones for Major Stryker and Monster Bash.

  • lol, i love raptor but never heard that voice fanfarre, WTF???

    That's when what?

  • Man, they sure over-used that "flash" effect in Halloween Harry, a.k.a Alien Carnage

  • I forget which apogee game I was playing as a kid when this happened, but normally there would be the typical apogee intro, but one time it was a bunch of Mexicans singing it. I was like what the hell!? Does anyone have a recording of that?

  • 1:07 is that what you're referring to? =)

  • It might be, but it definitely wasn't from the game raptor call of shadows, because I never played that. Do you know if that was in any other games?

  • N I C E

  • This almost makes me cry. Nostalgia overload!!!

  • nostalgia!

  • I like the Alien Carnage One the most :D

  • Or... DOS? Maybe? lol

  • lol 3:16!

  • Blake stone - the best music outta all of these

  • DN2 and WW were amazing

  • Is it bad that I played almost all of these games?

  • not at all!

  • damn this takes me back :)

  • Kids from today dont even remeber this name Apogee :) Damn good old times!

  • Those Games are classics

  • Rise Of The Triad is no joke

    JUMP!

  • ROTT was one of the best shooters ever.

  • Duke II has a classic opening

    'Why I'm So Great' hahah

  • I think they should have chose a catchier tune over time, but still great stuff. =D

  • 1:29 and 3:24 are by far the best. Apogee turned out some great games, and some equally awesome music.

  • I Always love the Duke Nukem II intro.

  • I'M ....... BACK

  • The crystal caves and math rescue remind me of the game Overkill where all the sounds came from the modem speaker

  • some of these theme tunes have pounding bass for such an old game

  • Duke Nukem 2 and Bobby Prince's second fanfare are just outta this world.

Hmm... just made a bad pun, there.

  • ROFL 1:08.

  • Hey Man! Congratulations for this video, it sooo great!

Such a good memories, a great tribute to Apogee and their games!

    Oh, Boppin, Keen, Duke Nukem!!!

    Thx for all!

  • Oh The Memories! I grew up playing Apogee games!

  • best 1 gotta be Hocus Pocus's 1

  • Memories :D

  • A POTTA GEE!!!!!!

  • lol the hocus pocus startup screen on my compy started exactly when the video showed the hocus pocus startup screen!

I love Apogee's great DOS games.

  • I have all games except for two.

    Full versions!

I play them using Dosbox Emulator.

I even have an old Pentium I computer

With Windows 98 for playing old games.

    Apogee Rocks !

  • those were the days

  • Apogee intro's fuckin rock. :D

  • 1:08 - is this true or fake? LOL

  • Yes, it's true. It works in Raptor on some of the developers' birthdays. The game reads directly from your computer's system clock, so that's how it knows when to activate Birthday Mode or not.

Here's an example: Try setting your system clock to May 16, then run the game. It's not just the fanfare that changes. ;)

  • That's amazing. Thx for explain.

  • Si true, apogee 10 anniversary

  • My faves were Duke Nukem 2, Alien Carnage, and the Jamaican one =) the Batman one was cool too tho!

  • That was just great!!!!!

Somebody should make a hip hop song that samples the soundtrack of these Apogee intros.

Also, I have fond memories of my mind being well out of the gutter when playing these Apogee games. Because since most songs are made with peoples' minds in the gutter, somebody should just make an innocent song that steers away from love and sexual references!

  • The wacky wheels one and DN 2 were the Coolest ones. the 2nd to last was like apogee meets jimmy buffet lol

  • DooM, Heretic, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, Rise of the Triad, Hocus Pocus, Wolfenstein 3D, Deathrally, and much more...

    Those games are legendary!

  • I'm a huge fan of Apogee and id-Software -games! Great memories!

Duke Nukem II's and Hocus Pocus's Apogee theme are the best.

  • Excellent games, I have played through most of them. The Stargunner theme was my favorite. And Bobby Prince sounds like a familiar name, I think he made the music for Doom too.

Still, after 3D Realms replaced Apogee, they haven't really made anything after the release of DN3D, Terminal Velocity and others. I think they were involved with Max Payne somehow, but that's about it. Damn that Duke Nukem Forever...

  • ... Prey was 3D Realms.

  • Yeah, but Prey sucked. I don't count it.

  • prey maybe sucked, but at least they did come out with it after those years.

  • Not exactly. Prey was going to be released by 3D Realms, but 3D Realms handed it over to Human Head Studios due to Development Hell. 3D Realms only published the resulting game.

  • THANK YOU! Apogee was at least 90% of my gaming childhood, Commander Keen, Raptor and Wacky Wheels are the best!!!

  • far out, this brings back SO MANY MEMORIES :) thanks so much for posting

  • I love Apogee...their games were a big part of my childhood.

  • i knew this company thanks to raptor! im still in love with that game

  • Ah, good memories. Have they directly made a game since DN3D though?

  • I think... Manhattan Project?

  • I never knew 3d re-- apogee made so much games

  • (late response woo)

They didn't, most of these were just published by them, but developed by other companies (such as id software)

  • Those songs remind me of the afternoons i spent playing Monster Bash, Commander Keen, Rise of the Triad...good old times, i wish i could go back in time...

  • hell yea :)

  • Raptor: Call of Shadows and Blake Stone on the ol' family Windows 3.1.... good times. :D

  • so true...i still have a working 486 on my garage just waiting for it's windows to be fixed. Still has Raptor Call Of Shadows demo on it :)

  • Awesome! :D

  • Awesome trip to memory lane! ^.^

  • There's another variant in V 1.0 of Raptor.

  • I wish I worked on Apogee at the time.

  • ROTT and Stargunner are my fave music wise but Wacky Wheels and ROTT are my favorite graphics wise.

  • This brings back old classic game memories =)

  • I loved the Apogee Fanfare ever since I was a kid. A decade later, I STILL love every single rendition of it.

  • Excellent.

  • Apogee <3

  • Nice compilation. It never gets old. I loved the easter eggs.
