  • What rifle do you use?

  • @MyHuntingFavourites I used a Ruger 30-06 MK II, stainless

  • murderers

  • @wolves257 mur·der: Noun. The unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another?

  • Two thumbs up...I enjoyed this video immensely!

  • I see alot of post on here saying " Man! I wish I had the time to do that" the truth is I believe. Life..... is one long bucket list, if you don't make it a priority in your life, you'll. Never do it. Walk on

  • Everyone, on every trip, forgets something. Or wishes they would have brought something they didn't..... what was yours?

  • @airwolf61970 Somehow I missed your comment.

Hmmm. I wish I had brought a solar charger so I had plenty of spare power for my camera batteries. I BARELY had enough batteries to last.

  • refreshing video. Alaska I love you, here I come.

  • to video document this kind of trip is a task in itself......wow. great job

  • I'd like for you guys to upload this video and any others you have on my new site: 907outdoors(dot com)

It's the first of its kind for Alaska and I'd appreciate your participation in it!

  • oh what i'd give...that was an amazing video, i hope one day i can do the same!

  • how much ammo did you have with you?

  • wow you by ur self must be tuff out there alone

  • 5:25 you killed it?

  • i envy your life, man

  • I love this I want to be a hunter

  • awesome trip, fair play to you. in a situation like that how do you keep meat from spoiling? is it mostly a trophy hunt? we are going into northern BC hunting, any tips on how to keep meat?

  • A lot of meat care is in the weather, of course. I had the option of hurrying downriver to a village if the weather had suddenly turned warm. As it was, I kept the meat dry, cool, shaded, and with lots of air circulating around it. (Not in plastic bags, for example.) Once I got to the first village, most of the meat went into freezers.

  • @youalaska im lovin it man, whee at in AK do you reside arround? i lived there for arround 16 years and then joined the army thus relocating me all over the place and since im getting out soon i would like the opprotunity to hunt with you

  • this is so cool. my goal in life is to do this

  • Hey! I want more! 10 minutes is just not enough dude. Great stuff. 5 stars.

  • The whole DVD is 75 minutes but this is all I could post.

  • if you need some one to pour your coffee for ya ....I'm there...

  • WOW! that looked like a great hunt and alot of fun. i wish i had the time off to go to alaska and complete a hunt like that. congrats on the trouphys and i bet the meat all tasted great too!

  • Loved the video, what an awsome trip. As the plane fly's away it reminded me of an old movie called Never Cry Wolf.

  • What does it feel like when that plane takes off and you realize your totaly on your own?

  • For me it was a thrilling feeling: "This is it!" I was confident I could handle what was coming up. The only doubt in the back of my mind was "I hope I didn't forget anything important!" This was before the days when lots of folks had satellite phones.

  • @stitter15 I've had the opportunity to get "that feeling" a number of times. For me it was heaven. This fella mentions satellites and cellphones etc,and that it was before them. Please keep in mind that even with these gadgets, you sometimes can't make contact.Make sure you have a pilot that will give you a flyby now and again to make sure you're OK. REMEMBER not to take unecessary risks. If you're severely injured. It could be curtains. Slappin iron on a bleed ain't no fun.Safety IS PRIORITY.

  • Really enjoyed your video, thank you!

  • awesome video, you have my respect six weeks alone out there is a long time.

  • You should have to stopp with first caribou! Otherwise You are great! Good luck for next hunting journeys!

  • I was allowed ten caribou and took two bulls, and passed up what were probably two record book bulls, so I don't feel too guilty. : )

  • Wow Is all i can say one of the better alaskan hunting videos i have seen truely Captured the beauty of it.. hope one day i get a chance to see some of the sights you did... Great looking Bou by the way.

  • The wild life pics were exceptional. That grizz early on winded you. Now if one of the cubs starts carrying on, would she come and have a talk? How would you handle that one? How do you prepare the caribou, and what's it taste like?

  • With both the cubs and mother at a distance it was highly unlikely there would have been a serious encouter, but you never know for sure! I had my 30-06 if necessary, and would have fired a warning shot first as most charges are bluff charges. I cook caribou like other venison. In the boonies I mostly roasted it or cooked it in foil in campfire coals.

  • Great video. What river where you on? The second bou was great looking. Was that a sunrise or a sun set?

  • Thanks! I try to avoid naming the exact river online, but it was in the eastern Brooks Range and I ended up on the Yukon. That colorful shot was a sunrise on the Yukon River.

  • I understand not giving up your own little slice of heaven where the hunting is good. Don't blame you one bit.

  • You have my respect and my admiration my friend.

I plan to be doing something quite like this in a years time, but I doubt I could do it like you.

  • wow you have no idea how much respect i have for you!

  • nice animal shots and gratz on ur kills i like the vid thanks for posting

  • When you were carrying your meat did you cache it to keep bears out of your camp? I'd imagine there was too much to put in BRFC? Great video I've watched it a few times now

  • Glad you liked the video! The way I did it was to stay near the meat during the day and camp by the meat (still in the raft) all night, with my loaded rifle ready for action. Normally I'd hang up the meat to keep it away from bears, but the raft already smelled like meat so I had to protect it anyway.

  • I would like to know what you do with all that caribou? How did you get it back? Did you leave it there and take the heads for sport?

  • Salvaging all the meat is Alaska state law and it is strictly enforced. I kept the meat cool, dry and shaded and once I'd taken a caribou I started floating so I only had meat to care for for 12 days or so. Much of the meat I ate, and I also donated a large part of it to the local church in the first village I came to.

  • weres the best black bears in alaska? Me and my dad really love bear hunting and alaska is our next trip so any advice will be great! Ps. Recomending outfitters will really help!

  • I think southeast Alaska is your best bet. Don't have any specific guide names though, sorry!

  • Nice Flying mate!

  • great vid, i cant wait to go to alaska

on a hunt like that, your pretty brave to go alone

  • Magnifique. Quelle chance il a ce mec!

  • That second bull had some really cool palmation. Looks like a great trip.

I went to the Kavik River hunting caribou last year. Flew into Prudhoe Bay and then Alaska Air Taxi dropped me at the Kavik River and I followed that for about 10 days. I was with a buddy and what a great experience. We saw all kinds of animals in our time there including walking right into a few bears. We didn't have the King Salmon fishing like you though, just some char and of course lots of caribou. Great Video.

  • An amazing video looks like you had and amazing time

  • Where at in alaska was this? Also what kind of rifle and caliber where you using? Did you self guide your own hunt?

  • I was in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I was using a Ruger 30-06, stainless, and self-guided my own hunt.

  • Your brave to hunt by yourself. My dad always told me to never hunt alone, so I don't, but I give you props. Is this the Brooks Range? I can't wait until this fall, I still have to get my first moose, I'm hoping to take a week long trip to the Denali Highway.

  • Yup, the Brooks Range, in ANWR. Good luck on your fall hunts!

  • wow... really really cool!!!

  • you are a animal.( in a good way)

  • Wow!! That was really amazing. Thank you so much for sharing something that most of us will probably never see. Thanks again.

  • wow good video man it looked like so much fun to just be out there all by yourself with no noices at all. I would love to get out there and do that sometime in my life.

  • How much did this deal cost you? looks like you were by yourself... were you? that would be amazing

  • It's hard to tally the total cost because I paid for the food and gear over a long period of time while preparing. The largest single out-of-pocket expense was flying out.

Yes, I was by myself. There's a link to more information in "About This Video."

  • where were you in this? great vid

  • Mostly the eastern Brooks Range, in ANWR.

  • Awesome video, live in Alaska myself, really captures the beauty of everything here. I just got done reading a book titled "Alaskan, Yukon Trophies Won and Lost," this video reminded me a lot of the book. Overall, how was the weather, i know it can change in a second but did it treat you ok?

  • Overall the weather was very good. It snowed in August a couple of times, at least, but melted quickly. Towards the end it was nice and cool, just right for keeping meat which was important to me. It wasn't a very wet fall which made keeping the meat much easier.

I did a hike/paddle across the Brooks Range in 2006 and some have said that was the wettest summer in record in that region. THAT was a challenge at times! Luckily at the end I had beautiful fall weather which was much appreciated.

  • wonderful job thanks for the great video . you lucky dog

  • Shooting beautiful animals like those for no reason at all, except for fun, is still a bit weird for a person like me, from the Netherlands. Besides that.. Lovely vid man!!

  • All of the meat was carefully cared for and eaten. It's the law. Like wolves, mankind has always hunted and for the same reasons, because it's in our nature and to eat.

  • I'm training for my private pilot license in the Netherlands. Right now I have contact with a flight school in Anchorage to train for my complete license. The nature in Alaska is so beautiful.. it makes my chin drop to the floor time and time again. I would love to do the things you do.

  • i just had to come back and watch this again tonight. Im Speechless!

  • In this world there are many of us that hunt and love to hunt. But you my friend are a HUNTER

  • Wow

  • great video. did you end up taking a ram?

  • Thanks. I appreciate that. As to what I ended up bagging, finding out what's going to happen is half the fun in hunting!

  • Is a self bailer is necessary? Grew up in Fairbanks & planning 10 days on birch creek for moose in September 08 with my 2 others. I am shopping for a raft, have plenty of river experience, & thinking of a 16 footer. That seems small 4 this hunt, 3 guys, gear, and hopefully a dead moose. The other two have never captained a raft so 2 boats might be a problem. Whats you spin? I could borrow a ducky, once the water slows down that could help. What do you think?

  • did you you set up camp in one spot and travel to get your game or did you bring camp with you.

  • I set up a different camp almost every night. For 3 weeks or so I had a series of spike camps out of one central base of supplies.

  • Amazing. I truly admire your spirit, and I'm very glad you had shown the animals the respect they deserve. I'll look for the DVD.

  • some of the best in the world i am born and razed in this state you ever wanna give it a wherl you can im me or email at mrairmark at y a h o o maybe we can trade a hunt im not a pro guide but i do know where they live only kicker is it is very hard to get drawn 4 elk here you have to research hunt drawes and percent rates (sucseful draw odds that is)its a lottery systom here butt when you get a tag its as good as gold

  • makes sense was a miss type i wish i had your job i live in arizona theres nothen like that here maybe one day after i safe up many dollers i will have the chance to viset that great place by the way does carabue taste anything like elk meat ive ben blessed with a few elk in my 38 years and love it its just hard to get drawn 4 here in this state

  • I like caribou, but most people, including me, find elk meat to be even better. Elk are a great animal. I understand that Arizona has some very good elk hunting.

  • wish u had your job why dident you take a bear and moose also ?

  • I could have sunk the raft with meat, hides and antlers! I wasn't looking for a bear on that trip, and was holding for a real monster of a moose. If I had it to do over again I would probably have taken that biggest bull moose I filmed but I like the rule "when in doubt, don't shoot."

  • and the meat went where....?

  • All the meat was properly taken care of and eaten.

  • Nice bou. Who flew you in?

  • Hi Cosmoline, Coyote Air did my flying.

  • viejo sanguinario!!!!

  • Although I don't agree with the slaughter, I admire your drive to go on such a amazing journey.. you are so lucky.

  • amazing

  • i wanna join the hunt next time

  • Great Vid!

  • wow, awesome video. I live on the crowded east coast, and can't wait to discover the west. It must have been great to get away from all the crap thats happening in the world today!

  • Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

Great footage, and great trophies. I am planning to do a trip similar to yours, I can't wait!

  • simply amazing. If you know what you're doing im sure it must be an exhilerating

experience. I live in the uk in london and if that plane left me there i'd probably be a bears meal in 5 minutes. Well done I admire your sense of adventure.

  • Excellent video my friend. I went too Alaska for the first time in 2005 and drove the Dalton with my father, it was an incredible experience. Last year i moved there for the summer and fell in love.
