lol, when i got my first stick, was when i bought my second car. didn't have 4 minutes of experience of driving stick and i had to drive the car 1 hour all the way back to my house on my own..i stalled once, that's all.

@skateboardingfreak you can leave it in first at a light if you want, just have to make sure that you have the clutch in, it probably would be easier than just going from neutral to first and having too much footwork

@inspiraenetwork I've been driving a standard for 6 months and I've only stalled it twice. This guy stalled 3 times in the same takeoff. I can proudly say that I didn't stall a single time during my first drive. If this guy is having that much trouble, he shouldn't be driving a standard.

when i first learned i was trying to pull into a parking lot to stop, but i got it going too slow and right before i pulled in it died bcuz i didnt push in the clutch, and then a cop drove by and was like, wtf. hahahaa :)
well this is not too bad. ive stalled in the middle of an intersection once while learning and the light was red, i basically created huge traffic and angered a lot of people. thank god no cops were around, but it was embarrassing as hell. at least there's no youtube video of my fail :)

I didn't stall a whole lot when learning, but I did toast the clutch pretty solidly, both due to the engine having some actual torque, unlike your average small displacement four cylinder.

I dont suppose you have ever driven in places like mumbai, India or bucharest, romania. i still rmbr after about 2 weeks of driving we went to mumbai and believe me, it was hell. Its nothing like here in the western countries. just go look up videos on driving in mumbai and you will see. the roads are all broken, no traffic regulations, people walking on the road...contd

Narrow roads, potholes everywhere, traffic, people walking on the road inspite of having pavements. bikes and autorickhshaws cut you everytime. and believe me people only drive manual transmission there automatic transmission isnt very common there.

Sorry people but even learners on their first lesson don't drive that badly. At least I didn't. It's really not hard, especially if you can already drive, then all you've got to worry about is the gears!
@shoponline831 Honestly it's really easy, just make sure you get someone to teach you, it looks like this person has never had a lesson on what the clutch does or when to use it. I stalled once on my first lesson (which was 2 hours as well) and I had no experience of driving a car whatsoever. You can hear when the car is about to stall when you're coming to a stop and you can feel the car pulling away when you get the clutch right. You'll be fine!

@masterkdrifter contd....other vehicles literally touch your car while in traffic you have to be so careful out there, thats why I said 2 months atleast to be able to drive in that environment and its similar in bucharest, though I was driving for a year before I went there so it wasn't so bad :)

Even I learnt fairly quickly when I was driving on well maintained and regulated roads where I live, not quite the same experience when I drove in mumbai, India. Narrow roads, potholes everywhere, traffic, people walking on the road inspite of having pavements. bikes and autorickhshaws cut you everytime. and believe me people only drive manual transmission there automatic transmission isnt very common there.

@zeefa100 I never stalled out once trying to learn, the only thing I did was grind my gears once. The next day was clean driving from there on out. But yeah they shouldn't make fun of him because it can be tricky for some people.

@shoponline831 Honestly it's really easy, just make sure you get someone to teach you, it looks like this person has never had a lesson on what the clutch does or when to use it. I stalled once on my first lesson (which was 2 hours as well) and I had no experience of driving a car whatsoever. You can hear when the car is about to stall when you're coming to a stop and you can feel the car pulling away when you get the clutch right. You'll be fine!
