  • Robert Goulet, one of great singing voices. I play a lot of his songs on radio 1629am Newcastle, Australia.

  • This egomaniac thinks he can tell the sunset to slow down a little?

  • Class act.

  • Beautiful....truly beutiful.

  • Oh My God. in these last 3 minutes have been bliss

  • Bem que Elvis detestava este cantor. Que péssimo!

  • hes my 4th cousinnnn... no joke!(: i have his eys(:

  • I have his album 1963 live at the Chicago Civic Opera House. Fabulous! He was one of the best looking guys I have ever seen...before that nasty mustache. Lol

  • I am fast approaching this age, actually already there. I love the words of this song.

  • Notice the cigarette product placement by the sponsors. You don't really think someone with a set of pipes like that smoked, do you?

  • Comment removed

  • @Dorsalfin I believe you're giving that level of product placement an earlier history than is the case. The smoke here goes along with the setting and mood of the bit: though a cliche, it's a "man enjoying a contemplative smoke" as aid to getting in touch with his thoughts. I don't see where this was Reynolds Tobacco Co. on the set going "have him smoking one!" btw, LOTS of singers of that era and before w amazing voices were known to be smokers tho here he's doing it for "atmosphere," I bet.

  • @dantean I agree. The cigarette fits in beautifully with the mood of the piece, it's a compliment to it and would be a detriment to have left it out.

  • @ednaboopadoop Uhhhh, I'll assume you're not being sarcastic and respond unironically by saying I think the show's director could well have thought the cigarette essential. While I think it adds detail, so would his wearing a hat. The hat's (or the cigarette's) absence, however, does not constitute a "detriment" for me.

  • @dantean No I wasn't being sarcastic. I thought the cigarette fit in with the mood of the number.

  • @ednaboopadoop Cool. There was a way of reading your comment as if the word "duh!" was implied without having actually been said.

  • THIS is the guy everyone makes fun of? I don't see anything worth making fun of whatsoever. he's good looking, knows how to sing, powerful, sophisticated, there's nothing ridiculous about him. what does it say about people if they make fun of this guy and not ridiculous sit com characters?

  • @raigekimaru I think it you are confusing him with Wayne Newton

  • @raigekimaru It says we're a nation of dirtbags.

  • I have a great crush on him! What presence, voice, appeal!

  • my dads favorite 1926- 2001R.I.P.

  • I had the privelege to meet Bob before he 'made it' on Broadway in Camelot. He was already a star in Canada. He was incrediblly charismatic even then and you just knew he would be a star. He was always singing wherever he went, in fact it was hard to get him to stop.

  • I still think his best work was on the Coconut Banger's Ball album...

  • Nice connection with the lyric, masterful. And what a great looking man, no wonder he had such a long career.

  • Another excellent singer and a good song too!

  • Not bad but easily the best version of this song was sung by Harry Nilssen

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs. Thanks for posting this. Robert Goulet's voice makes m very sentimental.

  • I love that he's singing with a cigarette in his hand... and how he sings!!!

  • Ah - the summer of '63, black and white TV, smoking hunky singers, the age of the Vegas rat pack. He looked and sounded wonderful, I remember it well. Then came November 22, 1963. Viewing this brings a lot of memories. We're the same age . . R.I.P. . and thank you so much for posting this! KC

  • If you smoke cigarettes you too can sing like this man!

  • he was a great singer. I like to hear his version of the theme to "Mondo Cane" More.

  • Near-perfect period kitsch (I'm a boomer, I can say that, LOL). Would love to know the exact year this aired? At any rate, thank you, dentelTV2!

  • —duh, I missed the comment by fromthesidelines. Thanks for the date info.

  • Does anyone have the Burl Ives version of this song?

  • This is indeed from a filmed episode of "THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM" [October 1, 1963]. Tony Bennett's version had just been released at the time this sequence was filmed in the summer of '63.

  • He has such a wonderful beautiful voice!

  • Tiny Tim does a great version of this. I think it's better.

  • wow, not seen a young goulet

  • Stunningly handsome, wasn't he?!!

  • @magebro01 Absolutely gorgeous hunk of man in his prime!

  • Goulet is so inspiring ! Exuding true masculinity strong, handsome, manly yet emotionally vulnerable as all men are. My mohter used ti listen to camelot all the time when I was a kid. I check out Goulet on youtube every month to see if there are any new videos of him. The only other singer that has all of these qualities is Gino Vannelli. The super talent of the next generation.

  • Pretty good for a city singer

  • Robert Goulet had it all - looks, presence, a marvelous sense of humor and the best baritone voice in the business. R.I.P., sir.

  • @soundslikefrank so why did he have to act like such a cheeseball?

  • @KarlDaggerfield Much of Goulet's humor was self-deprecating - it was almost a detriment to be as handsome as he was, I would think. He made fun of his own image as the suave and confident crooner. He had a great sense of humor.

  • This guy is amazing, and soo handsome!

  • This is strangely reminiscent of the Mario Lanza video where he sings "Be My Love" on a New York penthouse balcony while smoking. Look for "Mario Smokes".

  • This has to be one of my favorite songs by Robert Goulet. I also enjoy hearing him sing his signature song "If Ever I Leave You", as well as "Fortissimo".

  • Such a pretty song - well done, but I want that damn cigarette out of his hands! He passed from waiting for a new lung and if one could go back in time and just tell them... Ah well. He left a legacy of song

  • I never heard such a beautiful voice. Robert Goulet will always be missed. At least by me. He is my hero and will always be remembered as the best baritone the world has ever known!

  • amazing and wonderful that even young people know and like that great artist.i listen every day to his records ,exp."always you",his first lp from 1961.a true masterpiece.

  • Yes, I listen to them everyday also. He is my favorite male singer. My favorite female being Julie Andrews. I've listened to alot of his albums, really whatever I can find laying around the house. I love the song "If Ever I Would Leave You" that was recorded in the "Camelot" album.

  • My Mother woukld listen to his LPs all day...and as a result I had to as well...butnow I really appreciate them! No voice like his will ever cross our paths again...unbelievable talent...Jim

  • My Dad was a good looking man......but my Mom made it no secret that Robert Goulet made her goo goo.....:)

  • Damn ... what a looker !!!

  • Goulet sings it well, but he was really a little too young for "This is All I Ask" here, since the song is about an aging man. I wonder if he did it again later in life?

  • i only miss him when i think of him,but i think of him every day

his looks and his voice -a dream

  • Completely. I can't go by one day without thinking of him. His legend will last a life time. And I'd have to agree; his looks and his voice - a dream worth dreaming:)

  • ....This is ALL I ask---Robert, Come back, I miss you so very much! Thank you for the time we knew each other..I will always remember-and smile. There will be many songs to remember you with.

    Love,

    Joy

  • Nice vintage Goulet video! What show was this from?

  • Jack Benny
