All my 3 dogs HATE to get their nails cut.. It's nightmare to them (and us) hahahha. It's so nice to see the corgis allowing you to handle them like this!!! :)))))
How do you get them to lay so still? We tried cutting out puppy's nails, and she kept flinching and flailing right before we clipped. so we endded cutting too close and she bled a lot. now she's even more scared of the clippers, and will not hold still at all.
Hi, It does take sometimes to get them used to your trimming. But patient is very important. Try 1 nail a day. You have to gain their trust. It does take a while. These puppies were really young.. they have no fears yet at this age. So it was easier. It takes a lot of getting used to for the older dogs. But wait to do it until she is sleepy, and try to do it one nail a day. Massage her legs &a treat, so she will associate trimming to affection. Will be easier each time. But patience is the key.
Oh Thank you, I'll be sure to take your advice, Mine won't even lay still went I cut him, he's scare of it and soemtime JUMP when I clipped one of them. U know why he jump?
I have a corgi that is five months his name is Butters, and he sleeps with me..He is sleeping with me as I type..lol but his hair is all over the place..my bed, my clothes, my laptop keys...is there any way I can reduce the amount of hair he shed because I know I cant prevent it from sheding
I understand the shedding must drive you crazy. I have 2 corgis and yeah .. major shedding :0)
If you want to reduce the hair, you have to brush your corgi with a slicker brush or FURminator. Those brushes really help. Twice a day or at your convenience.
It will reduce the shedding because it will remove those fur instead of letting them fall all over the place. But that's pretty much all that we can do.
Some people use medicine, but I don't recommend those.
wish my baby boy was like that when he was a puppy. i think he may have been traumatized before we got him. he HATES having is nails clipped. we just found out that petsmart does the filing and he likes that a whole lot better. hopefully the next one we get will let me cut it's nails. :oD
Ahh, I don't know what I'd do watching these videos if I didn't have a new little charmer of my own (not corgi, but a worthy character just the same!)
Thanks .. lol, that is Cody (Turbo now) He was suppose to just lay there waiting for his turn, but he was making faces and chewing paper he found on the floor .. lol ..I didn't even know it until I upload the video hahaha
It's lovely to see how well you are taking care of these puppies. They deserved to be loved, but are still very lucky puppies to be in the hands of such a caring owner. =)
It was worth it to me to take my Corgi to a groomer! She'd never let me even get close to cutting her nails, but the groomer could run through all 4 paws in less than 5 minutes.
what type of dogs are those?

it's not see easy with our corgi .. he tends to go to the bathroom when we try to cut his nails
gothiccowsruleXD 1 year ago
Oh no, yup.. that could be a problem. I hope he allows the groomer to cut his nail.
tinytailsnkisses 1 year ago
@tinytailsnkisses he does kind of .. they kind of have to restrain him because he will nip because he gets scared.
gothiccowsruleXD 1 year ago
Yes.. I understand.
It is pretty stressful for a lot of dogs.

@tinytailsnkisses Can we use an ordinary clipper? like the ones we use?
xXxDiorLovexXx 1 year ago
Hi. Nope. We can't.
It needs to be the one for dog.
Their nails are much thicker and we want to avoid accident.
:0)
Thank you for asking.

It takes time, really.
Molley my Coton de Tulear was worst than my Corgis. It took me 1 hr to trim 1 nail, gosh !
But, I keep trying & now 15 min for the whole 4 feet ! LOL!
They definitely will get used to it.
The sound of the clipping is very scary for a lot of dogs so they jump. It's very loud, especially when they have thick nail.
So you can prepare some snacks & when they agreed to lay down then cut 1 nail, give 1 snack, then tomorrow 1 more nail.
Eventually they will enjoy nail cutting :)

Hello once u cut them do u file them?
urstruly83 2 years ago
Hi,
I don't file their nail.
It does get a bit scratchy when you don't file them, but it will be smoother as soon as they go outdoor to play.
A lot of people do prefer to file them though, but the most important thing is to keep those nail short.

It does take sometimes to groom my Corgis as they get older.
They will roll around or flop on the ground, so I can't see their feet.
LOL.....
But I just keep training them and my self to do it :0)
My coton is the hardest one to groom to be honest....

Good for you! My female shakes and screams bloody murder when I go to the cupboard to the clippers out. Ridiculously spoiled and all my fault!
srmm1995 3 years ago
LOL .. It takes practice.
After dinner (sleepy time) just sit in front of the TV with her on the floor. Hide the clipper under the blanket/ somewhere close to you.
Then just talk to her and pet her, play with her feet, talk somemore (she will fall a sleep a little)
Secretly get the clipper & massage her feet some more, then cut a tiny part of her nail.
If she jumped or get nervous, stop & do it again tomorrow. If she is fine, cut 1 more nail, & that's all for the first day.
Repeat often
tinytailsnkisses 3 years ago
It's definitely worth the wait.
I was in the same situation... and I think a lot of us do.
I 'll be looking forward to see your corgi video ^..^
tinytailsnkisses 3 years ago
Thanks,
They were just so used to being groomed and handled twice, three times a day. So it was just not a big deal for them.
But Skye is still like that until now .... they usually just fall a sleep during nail cutting ... lol

Yayyyy !!! I am soo happy for you !
Corgi is a very special breed of dog. (I love all kind of dogs) but Corgis definitely are very special.
You have to train them starting from a very young age, because they will mold their personality around you.
I am so excited for you ..!! Please make a video of the puppy. I would love to see it.
Best Regards, ^..^
