We put in at 'Wetherill Junction" south of Frackville and take out in Saint Clair or Port Carbon. I would say this section is hard class II or maybe class III in higher water.
I've always wanted to run this (live in Pottsville) but have never seen enough water. Do you have any idea what the water level was? Where did you put in and take out at? I've seen some nasty strainers down in the creek, did you encounter any?
Finding enough water on the Mill is tough. We ran it after some steady snow melt, which is ideal since you know it is a long crest. The Landingville gauge was 770 cfs, which is normally pretty low for the Mill, but the melt kept it from spiking sharply. I prefer the Schuylkill to be over 1000 cfs for good water on the Mill. We hit a lot of strainers, and spent a lot of time clearing them out. 99% of the time the Mill is too low and 99% of the time it has tons of strainers, we just got lucky.
great video!!!!!!!! i just recently moved to schuylkill county and am lookin for new spots to yak...i am familiar with the little schuylkill and the schuylkill @ auburn.
so this is called "mill creek" i'll have to look it up. It looks great on the rare ocassion that it flows so well.. Where do you launch and take out at?
Thanks for the ino. What class was the section you did? Where did you take out?
