When I hear this i cry my eyes out. I don't really care that im a boy that cries. The reason being i think of my best friend, who died and when i hear this i think of her smiling and cheering me up. I know she watches me from above. Great song, beautifully done.

If you close your eyes and just listen to the song, it feels like your in Death. You walk around and see all the people you know who aren't living anymore. They walk with you and they show you around but you end up feeling sadder and sadder until at 2:53 they stop you and tell you not to be sad about them. They say that even though you can't see them in life, that they're gonna be there for you and watching over you from Heaven. This is a beautiful song.

I remember seeing this movie with my father at the midnight premiere. I was a kid then, now hes passed and every time i hear this song, or watch the movie, i cant enjoy it because i think of my father. After he died i watched this movie on a car trip and i looked at the sunset, and i thought if i would ever see him again.

@AriesFiona yeah that's exactly how i feel. I can't distinguish the beauty or the sad feeling i get from this melody. Beautiful work none the less. I think its because of the low piano keys that gives it such an eerie feeling of sadness they the high ones that gives it a more somewhat, "lighthearted" feeling.

This scene elevates Spirited Away from just a good movie to a piece of high art. The scene is so masterfully incorporated in the movie and offers a suspension period. Before the train scene, there is a long stretch of high tension and action--No Face is swallowing people and trying to destroy Chihiro. Then after that action, we are given this scene which puts all action on pause--has us wait and reflect about the adventure we're embarking on.

Back when I was six, I always watched this movie! Right now I'm 13 and I still love this movie. If this movie went on forever, I would watch it, if there was such I world like this, I would try to find it. I can't even explain how much I love this movie, it is so amazing. Miyazaki is the most amazing person I would not even be able to explain him in words. And whenever I hear this song I get teary eyed! It's the most amazing movie you could ever see. I listen to this, and I see my friends who died, or my family who have died...Then I see flashes of my past, bits of memory recorded that altered my life for the better or the worse.
