@MrBaphomet666 Oh dear lord please no. It would be manchester all over again only worse. Still though there'll be 1 and half million people in the city waiting to ahem "welcome" you...
@MrBaphomet666 Yeah but tradition dies hard in england, they wont change their ways! Yeah german football seems to be steady, has the highest average attendances in europe apparently. Pity pro football in ireland isnt big, otherwise we could have the rugby system of the "magners league" with a unified scottish, welsh and irish league. I was about to call it a celtic league there(k pronounication), id better be careful ha ha! Imagine the piss ups on those trips ha ha!
The superleague thing might happen depending on future finance but it kinda defeats the purpose of european competition then, also scotland as an example wouldnt be guaranteed a club then in the champions league. There could be all sorts of pitfalls to it. Either way change is required, in the meantime gotta settle for trips away to st johnstone on a bitter bollock freezing january night!
Well cardiff and swansea play in england and they're welsh which states the case even more. I guess the SPL would basically collapse if the old firm were to leave but leaving is the only way they'll ever truly progress. The other problem being how to allocate them? Extend an already long premier league season to 22 teams or put them in the championship to begin with? Theres no doubt that celtic and rangers are absolutely huge, apart from man utd &liverpool they're bigger clubs than the rest.
Thats not my point i mean in a hypothetical situation of rangers and celtic having the same squads as now and were to play the 38 games from the premiership they would be in a relegation scrap. I just meant based on current quality. But on that point, it is a pity they cant play in england i would be in favour of it, because at the end of the day whos benefiting from the current format? At least the scottish league would have different winners and the old firm could do themselves some justice.
@MrBaphomet666 Theres a reason im impartial as scottish football is beyond a joke. I dont know how u can be excitied or passionate about a league thats got 2 teams only. Not only that 2 teams that have declined so much now that even if they were in the championship they could struggle to get promotion. Dont u think that cardiff city or leeds for example would have every chance of beating the old firm? And as for the rest, the likes of aberdeen or motherwell would probably get relegated in it!
@MrBaphomet666 Willie collum's integrity has not been called into question as theres been no evidence of malpractice on his part. How about mike mccurry's performance in that famous match i keep telling ya about that u keep ignoring? Trying to fob me off and tell me he didnt have an agenda that day?? Please.. stop the lights!
@MrBaphomet666 Again so u understand, i dont support celtic ok, in fact a lot of irish people dont give a fuck about celtic believe it or not. My main point is specificially about rangers gettin favourable decisions against everybody not just celtic. And dallas ref'd lots of OF matches and his neutrality is questionable to say the least. McCurry's performance in that dundee utd game was suspicious and subsequently it turned out his family had rangers connections so questions have to be asked.
@MrBaphomet666 So to go back to my original point as intended, is that there is a general preference among the population in scotland for rangers as in tune with their traditions and what they stand for, yes? So every now and again this surfaces in some games that we see. Rangers do get soft penalties time and time again. Ans scottish football IS still rifiled with sectarianism so why would it be so shocking to discover some corruption and oddities in a game that has not properly reformed yet?
@MrBaphomet666 Well i did touch on the fact that hugh dallas's son was a season ticket holder at ibrox and who no less was sacked from his position as head of ref development for sectarian abuse he dished out. And mike mccurry whos sister was a season ticket holder at ibrox and whos involved in an orange order. That infamous rangers dundee utd match 2 yrs ago was truly a scandal, like i said levein's interview was bang on, rangers had to win by any means neccessary and mccurry duly obliged them.
And on a wider note the amount of decisons against the other teams in scotland is far worse. Lord knows rangers and celtic would kick most teams arses in their sleep but the odd occasion when they are matched or even bettered they(rangers/celtic although mainly rangers) always seem to cross the line. Rangers and dundee utd of 08 being one of the best examples. Leveins interview afterwards was priceless but he really hit the nail on the head!
@MrBaphomet666 Im not saying there was a constant bias but it did surface now and again, and ultmately if a team is good enough they can overcome such things as celtic did in the past. But this match for example clearly had an agenda, those decisons against celtic were blatant. Also, on the subject of referees didnt it come to light that hugh dallas who ref'd many an old firm game turned out to be a rangers fan and his son was an ibrox season ticket holder? Talk about a conflict of interest!
There was 2 blatant decisions here that went against celtic, first being an obvious foul that lead to the second goal and cadete's goal that was clearly onside. I can draw comparisons to the way the situation used to be in spain where a lot of dubious decisions went to real madrid as they were seen as the "state" team and nobody really liked barca and therefore used to suffer hostility quite a lot. It was somewhat similar in scotland. Although thankfully this is not the case anymore.
Its along time ago, but a neutral watching this will surely agree there was a blatent fowl on Paul McStay leading up to the second Rangers goal and then of course the Cadete "goal."
Massive effect on the game and at the end of the day Tommy Burns paid for losing this game with his job. Did the refs or linemen?
its all celtic fans can come back with these days. officials make mistakes. " we always get cheated" look st the stats, celtic have had more penalties for than rangers from 1980 onwards, rangers have more yellows more reds, and more penalties against
@cmacmuiris not a statement its fact. it was on followfollow (rangers forum for those who dont know) and from an official site that takes these stats.
@matty121 i don't care where it came from....or what label you're putting on it....its utterly rediculous.....if ever there was in irrelevant stat to badly argue a point, then that is it.....
In my opinion the situation here is very much like the one now, where Walter Smith should not be allowed to leave Rangers. Tactical Genius and the very best manager in the SPL history.
celtic got cheated out of a draw .cadete had a goal wrongly disallowed and anderson ran up the park and scored 2 jammy goals . i l give albertz credit he scored some belters against us
info fans: only what is needed in football was finally to drive the video referee, to avoid the contested decision.
See the world the revolutionary project IVSR net site (international virtual school referees). There is also a video on youtube MINICAM VIDEO REFEREE (how to see eye referee). And it is very important to make a lot of pressure on fans FIFA and UEFA representatives, but I myself can not do anything against the old (conservative) people who govern football..
I'm a Celtic supporter but these videos are great. The games from this season were among the first Old Firm games I ever saw. It definitely brought back a lot of memories, even if they were mostly bad ones. I can still remember the excitement and tension I felt watching these games as an eight year old.
Larsson might be the most decorated of the 3, but no-one electrified the SPL and ripped teams apart quite like Brian Laudrup did.
Ive even got Celtic supporting mates that would agree that Laudrup was the most skillful and exciting player to grace the SPL in modern times. Remember Larsson was here for almost twice as long as Laudrup aswell.
Brian Laudrup: Quite simply the best footballer to play in the SPL in the last 20 years. In terms of pure class and footballing genius its beyond doubt.
A joint second would be Gascoigne (as a playmaker) and Larsson (as a goal machine).
Larsson was a great player, but he wasn't in Laudrups league. Both could turn the game with the flick of a boot, but Larsson could never take the game my the scruff of the neck and run from his own box past two or three players and put the ball in the back of the net, Laudrup could and did.
@GOATthePeoplesArmy He done it countless times. I remember him leaving several Rangers defenders looking daft and chipping Klos at Ibrox and thats just off the top of my head. Im not arguing Laudrups credentials as he was a top player but seriously to say Larsson wasnt a game winner and couldnt skin players is ridiculously stupid
@GOATthePeoplesArmy Doesn't at all occur to you that Larsson was a striker and Laudrup a creative midfielder and as such any comparison is largely redundant. That said, in much the same way as, like you say, Larsson wasn't known for running past players and then scoring, Laudrup was a significantly inferior finisher.....naturally. Both great players, both different players.
was i tenerife for this match though good atmosphere in the pub(mix support) regret not being there. albertz was amazing when it mattered, celtic had good bunch of players, but gers had winning mentality(RIP TOMMY BURNS ,RIVAL LEGEND,GOD BLESS) WATP
Robbed on two occassions here. Looks like a foul 10 seconds before the second goal, shocker of a challenge right in front of the ref and of course the proof if ever we needed that masonic refereeing was key to Rangers matching 9 in a row. Disgrace Cadete's leveller was choped off. Abysmal refereeing. Delighted wee Paulo scored in front of the Broomloan mind you.

Celtic FC the Kiddy Fiddlers, are the worse losers in World sport. Never defeated always cheated.
Their constant whinging about refs meant the refs went on strike in 2010 and we had to get officials from other countries to ref the games.
This only surfaces when Rangers are on top though!

Look at the quality on BOTH sides in this match, DiCanio, Albertz, Gascoigne, Cadete etc etc.
Now compare to the keech on both sides we watched last Sunday - Lafferty, McCulloch, McGeady, Fortune.
Whats more depressing is that the old firm, even with such infinitely poorer players are still way ahead of the rest of scottish football.

Larsson was a great player, but he wasn't in Laudrups league. Both could turn the game with the flick of a boot, but Larsson could never take the game my the scruff of the neck and run from his own box past two or three players and put the ball in the back of the net, Laudrup could and did.

@GOATthePeoplesArmy Are you joking? Larsson never skinned 3 players and scored? lolololol
campbo 2 years ago
No...he never. O rare you trying to tell me he did?
GOATthePeoplesArmy 2 years ago
