very nice. i would just say, before giving a gift to a child, go to the parent and ask,"may i give a gift to your child." not so much for the danger the child is in at that moment but for the idea it gives children that it's okay to take gifts from strangers. they have to hear their parent okay it first and know that it had to be okayed by their parent first.

We encouraged people to make the gifts personal, so if you didn't have money you could write a poem, or do some art, or create a mixed CD. And if you were purchasing, they didn't have to be expensive, on person brought gift bags with a coffee mug, and some packets of tea and hot chocolate.
