Tivo is working on a few updates that should fix most of the issues. A new update is coming out by the end of this month which will fix some lockup and general enhancements; however, another update in the next couple of months will finally enable the 2nd core of the BCM7413 CPU. It's only running on 1 core but they hope to get it enabled by the end of this summer.
The speed, response and ease of use is rather disappointing in TiVo Premiere. It's better than the generic DVR your cable company gives you, but still... I also find it faster, more flexible, and easier to set up Season Passes via the SD menu, which is a sucky proposition considering that you're probably hoping to make the most of your HD set.
Was looking around at Retravision (Australian Electronics Store. TVs, washing machines etc) Store Today and they said TiVo really sucks and I should buy a Single HD Tuner Panasonic 250GB PVR/DVD Player instead. Does TiVo really suck? The Value for money is better then TiVo I've noticed... 160GB TiVo - AU$599.. Panasonic HD Digital Tuning DVD/PVR with 250GB HDD - AU$488
