I first heard this song a month before my husband died. We knew he was dying and just held hands,When he died a month later I had a group come and sing it at his funeral, I touches my heart and brings tears even now, He died in August of 1999
This is so beautiful, & I didn't know till tonight who wrote it. I learned it last year & sang it at our church accapella & everyone loved it! It truly made me cry the 1st time I heard it!
It makes me think of my little twin son, Zane Grant McMullen, [1-17-1980 to 1-29-1980] & of my precious Brother, Terry DeJuan Golden, [4-4-1958 to 12-26-1996] who left much sooner than we planned....but this song says so well what I feel in my heart- that they both will be reaching for me when I cross over!
@craig9843 Yes, I shot this in 1999 with an 8mm camcorder. The stage is under a pavillion. At the time I processed this, I didn't have the capacity to alter the exposure.
From the first time I heard this song, I thought of my mother. When the time came, two dear friends sang it at her funeral. Later I wrote to Terry Smith, thanking him for writing it. You see, my mother was paralyzed from the neck down. She was also a "mouth artist" (held a pencil in her mouth to draw). So the words of this song were perfect for her - drawing pictures in the sand, rise up, come running, reaching for your hand - all things she will do in Paradise.
Thank You. It is good to find it on here to listen to it again.

Terry is great...the video isn't very clear. Way to dark. You can't hardly see the footage.

Sorry, not much I can do about that. We just left the week-long music festival in LeMars, Iowa.

It's probably because it was recorded in 1999 according to far top right of this page...

You're welcome. I've know Terry since 1994. We were inducted into the Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame at the same time.
