  • have acctually fell in love with this!<3<3!

  • Im a teenage girl and all of my friends are listenting to hadcore rock or auto tuned pop music. I dont listen to them, they dont know real music. This is so beautiful, a truly amazing mucisian who i realy look up to with my music <3 Go cara!

  • She can sing brillo, but for me, there are some songs/melodies that cant be improved upon,

  • this is a old mans song, not a young girls with her life infront of her, just my .02

  • Kinda doesn't sound right when sung by woman. No offence...

  • A gorgeous woman and an excellent voice with emotion pouring into this fine old tune! mrcheddar, you did us all a favor by posting her. Thank you!

  • Gorgeous voice!

  • so love her voice! thanks for posting.

  • breathtakingly beautiful voice - so haunting. i love her! xxx

  • I think I'm in love too............

  • I think I am in love

  • cara's the best! come to canada cara!!!

  • She totally need a Stylist.....!!

  • @irontoyvn no she doesn't, just listen to her voice, thats what its all about. not what she looks like.

  • @irontoyvn Idiot

  • @irontoyvn / what a load of crap!!!! this singer is one of the best and YOU disagree with her appearance!!!! nothing at all wrong with her/ how is YOUR appearance???? not so good i would imagine going by your channel!!!!!!!

  • This is ferociously beautiful. Even upon the first note, Cara awoke so much within me. Thank you for sharing this piece. Beautiful beautiful beautiful!

  • Nice song she has done it justice.Philip Quinn.

  • Who's this talent?

  • a voice like hers could build heaven

  • nice smoke filled room to damage the vocal cords!

  • This is the first time I've heard it sung by a female and enjoyed it. (And I'm female). Very nice.

  • why shim always be addin in a "h" before the vowels at the start of shim phrase?

hand all i done for want of wit

to memry now hai can't recall.

where shim step out a anyway?

still, nice control on some of the ornamental passages. Shim gotta be please wid what shim can do.

  • Beautiful song, nice piano. Such a sweet voice! Thank you for sharing!

  • It helps that you're pretty. But still, you did it beautifully.

Someone I love said that she said she'd like this song sung at her funeral if she "deserved it". Your rendition would serve.

  • i think i know that lad on the piano

  • simply amazing!! that is all...

  • I've always loved the "old music" and it's wonderful to hear it sung so beautifully. Some just have it in their souls to tell the old stories and awaken dreams & memories. Cara is one of them.

  • Cara Dillon never disappoints. Great talent. Very unique voice.

  • why do we compare one to another ? It is a weakness of the listener .... not the singer.

Voice is beautiful - and did she not sing the version of Ireland used by Billy Connelly for his 'World Tour of Ireland' series ....... the voice is key perfect and haunting in quality ...... listen and criticise only if you personally can do better

  • maybe songs like this is best with 3 or more people :)...this video is beautiful but i think it sounds more...complete if you know what i mean

  • Can't think of much music that uses a woman's sweetest voice, her higher register, other than Irish and bluegrass. Of course opera, but the singers have so much technique and volume, the higher register is no longer sweet. Seems men have one voice. A bass or tenor that may include a falsetto. Women have two. Higher and lower registers. Lower has more power. But it's not sweet and femine. Some combine the two very well. Natalie Cole comes to mind.

  • This is one of my very favorite folk songs, and Cara's performance is one of my favorites. Beautiful job. I listen and go somewhere else. :)

  • Beautiful.

  • This is great. Thanks for sharing. You must have had a great seat for the show.

A folk festival in the Shetlands...that is something that I will have to do at some point in my life. It sounds like a great time with nothing to bother a man but some good music, good company, and maybe a few drinks here and there.

  • @donegalsteve: The Shetland folk festival is excellent. Always great bands, concerts in small communities all over the islands, meet and greet up close in the festival club afterward and more music there till wee hours of the morning. I am going for the 8th time this year!

  • I am going to create a bucket list and add the Shetlands Folk Festival to it (though hopefuly I'll make it sooner rather than later). Good luck with it this year!

  • in general who is better??cara dillon or kate rusby????

  • @markodwit I like them both and have seen them both perform recently. Kate is excellent, but Cara is very, very special and my favourite.

  • There is an album out and it's great:)

  • a real soubrette voice - very sweet/girlish, pure, fine voice

    sooo beautiful by the way

  • OMG! this is actually the most beautiful song. Sad tho :( xx Dillon sings it with such soul x

  • thanks for doing a version that actually takes its time with the phrasing. Your vocal quality reminds me of a young Kylie Minogue or Olivia Newton John. Very soft and tender. It's great stuff. Hope to see an album soon.

  • Cara has 4 albums to her credit! This lovely song is on her latest, Hill of Thieves, which was just released in the US last month. It is an amazing album...I got my copy last November, when it was only available at her shows, and have listened to it almost every day since then...and I'm not sick of it yet!

  • Cara Dillon is a well established artist and has albums released!

  • and those albums are extremely nice, i have all of them, soooo good!

  • I can't believe that in less than 3 weeks I will get to hear Cara sing this beautiful song live in NYC.

  • lovely, and now we need a version of the Dutchman and it'll be just like ''makem and clancy'' all over again wow hee!

  • efinitely gonna go to see her soon. I have been known to sing this song of a night out. Lovely song. Fair play Cara. Come play in Limerick will you...

  • Yes, so true and she's also a first-class person, too. I saw her perform out here in California in September and December. Being in the audience and hearing her sing in person is something that is very hard to describe. She's an amazing singer.

  • @PopHorizonScanner You got that absolutely right - her records are good but live she is great!

  • It's from this year's Shetland Folk Festival, isn't it! :-) Very good song, Cara is first class singer...

  • Gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing :)

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful song.
