  • Hi hat demonstration was a little too obvious

  • I allow you to demonstrate.

  • that would be so awkward to turn your head like that.

  • Mike, I've never seen anyone spell out the Basic Jazz Pattern as well as you have here. And I've been playing for 23yrs & have studied with drum guru Peter Magadini (among others.) Also, you've an excellent professional disposition to teach, IMO. Great job! :)

  • jus started this in my real life lessons its horrible

  • @pampersrock69 maybe you're not made for a drummer and you don't practice enough, or your drums sound like shit =)

  • He says to play your Hi-Hat on two and four but when I count he's stepping on the triplets.. He should elaborate a little with the counts of the metronome and rhythm so that it wont confuse ppl.

  • I don't actually play the drums. I'm an electronic music guy and I program a drum machine, but I've been watching these videos and they're really giving me a lot of help with coming up with more natural beats, that sound more like drummers, and less like a guy with a computer. The 4-on-the-floor pattern is so played out, I can't take it anymore!

  • expervillage is like the joke version of this. If expervillage is being for real, they got nothing on these guys.

  • i have always been a rock an metal/punk drummer, im looking to study jazz drumming to open up my co-ordination,....iv never come up against such co-ordination difficulty as this ever!

jazz drumming realy is a wolf in sheeps clothing dude!

  • @punkrockdrummer1990 If you think this is hard, try some latin jazz like michel camilo.. freakin amazing! And hard!

  • Mike and Jared are the best teacher!!!

  • thanks,

i have been a rock drummer my whole live ( 8 years of playin drums) but the school wants me in the jazsz band!

  • He´s TOTALLY diggin´that soul patch thingie! Nice lesson btw.

  • No I will NOT allow you to demonstrate!!!! XD

  • lol!

  • ITS MIKE DIRNT FROM GREEN DAY!!!!!!

  • @ryanshedy booooo!!

  • he sure does say lot of "allow me to demonstrate" :D

  • @naamanoxis hahahah :)))

  • @naamanoxis

how could you dissallow him to demonstrate?

  • have you ever tried playing with electronique pads, akira jimbo is a god

  • I like the way Mike and jared teach

  • mike and jared taugh well but hey! you forgot the bald guy! lol

  • So where do you teach the feathering part?

I feel like you skipped that important part of the lesson.

  • i've been messing around with some jazz exercises, and i've found so far that thinking of the entire beat in triplets helps with some more complicated stuff. anyone have some opinions on this?

  • Especially with the fills.

  • lol, the look at 50... "allow me to demonstrate...." "you... just step down"

  • cheers, im all about playin jazz drums and its helpful to know how to start!!!

  • When he showed how to play the hi-hat with the foot, my brother went like "ZOMFG AMAZING" and I fell off my chair laughing...

  • not sure about freedrumlessons, but you should find something in these videos or mikes own, check them out

  • I always practiced jazz and never used my bass drum so now i am re-doing my learning and this video really helped, thanks!

  • Maybe you should learn how to listen then.

  • Ahaha Chadster got owned.

    Great video!

  • LOL. Great Lessons mate. I have been playing for years but never learned proper jazz techniques so your lessons help. Cheers.

  • l33t pwn

  • Well do you not want him to explan how to play the pattern and learn wrong?

  • Thanks for this. Seriously :)

  • great teacher!

  • Thanks Everyone and all the best in your drumming venture!!
