Do you have R.O.D.? I can't play this movie on a regular DVD player only laptop and blu ray are capable of playing this disk. My blu ray player supports Java. Yup Java might be it.

It's possible that there could be a slight imperfection on the disc in a place such that only certain disc drives can read it. I know when I ripped all of my DVDs onto a computer, it wasn't unusual for it to not work on my E: or F: drives, but my USB G: DVD Drive could do it.

I'm going to guess between $50k and $55k. Bump that up another $5k for tax+shipping+handling.

Current confirmed values are $39,928.45 (not including $5,165.59 Tax+Shipping+Handling). That covers about 76% of the entries in my text file so I guess if you extrapolate from that the guess is around $52,371.73 (not including an estimated $6,775.39 shipping and handling.)

I really did buy most of this, basically one purchase at a time. For the stuff I didn't buy, they were birthday and Christmas presents, although people only bought anime DVDs for me prior to 2005. After that, the collection was big enough that people stopped trying. ^.^;;

Indeed, adults can enjoy anime because it is simply a medium of expression. There are a variety of genres that are allowed to play out that should cater to many peoples' tastes. :)

As for how many I have now... Discs, Volumes, or Purchases? I've been working on calculating more exact values for that, but currently it's looking like:

3,054 discs and 3,032 volumes over 1,912 purchases. My old counting system would say "2,771."

(Remember, these aren't exact, but they're getting close...)

My counting program is somewhere between a purchase count and a volume count (closer to volume, I believe.) That value is the only one I keep track of for now, so approximately 2,736 volumes.

I don't know how much I've spent (don't keep track.) In the past, I've tried guessing based upon what I think the average per volume I've spent is? So, maybe over $50,000?

I've been collecting for 9 years. It was between 200-300 DVDs 4 years ago before my job.
