Frankly, way too much Iranian music is like something you'd hear at a funeral but if that's what they like then so be it. Personally I prefer something a little bit more happy than "age ye rooz" or "Chetur hasudi nakonam".

Listening to this music and judging it like you do is like listening to a piano and wonder why there are so many different ding-dang sounds. You must understand the language, the lyrics and the social context of such music to be able to appreciate it. @TodayFreedom NO, there is reason is that these Iranian traditional songs were basically a way of transferring knowledge and history and philosophy of the life. The lyrics are so deep in meaning that you can deliver such important messages while you’re laughing or … you need to be in these sort of moods to be able to transfer what you want. The traditional music was not just to have fun it was to teach some life lessons.
