@Providence932 actually no. the common misconception with most areoplanes and helecopters is once they come into production, there nver upgraded from there original state, you have to wait for a new jet or chopper to see more advanced stuff, which is simply not true, dozens of old areoplanes and tanks and helecopters get refitted with modern equipment, example, iraq and egypt still enforce the t72 battle tank in some of there divisions.

If you want to list pylon mounted cannons as an option that fits in the tactical design of the AH-64 then you really have no understanding of the aircraft and need to do some additional homework on the intention of it's design.-

Again, you've fundamentally misunderstood the intention of the M230, and the Apache itself. Finally, if you're trying to take a complicated machine like an Apache, and use it in direct combat with IFVs, then you're misusing the aircraft, and have fundamentally misunderstood it's purpose in network centric warfare.
The KA-50/N, KA-50SH (night Hunter) models are not even in production, Kamov may have produced a pre-production model for testing, but this aircraft isn't even in service. Russia itself would disagree with the venerability and usability of this aircraft in as wide a service window as the AH-64, owning only a dozen or so KA-50s that are in service.
AH-64 can attack with GPS or Laser guided munitions.These munitions can climb over obstacles and attack targets from their top armor.
A blind AH-64 can have it's missiles guided by another aircraft, or by ground forces, allowing the Ah-64 to remain behind cover, invisible to it's target.
The AH-64 carries it's own electronic warfare suite and the mast mounted radar allows the aircraft to detect, track, and target hostiles without exposure.
Radar aside, KA-50 has reduced visibility when compared to the AH-64 due to lack of thermals in production models after 10 years.
KA-50 has the risk of disintegrating it's own coaxial rotor array through high-g maneuvering.
KA-50 may have more armor, and the capability to lose it's tail with a reduced reduction in flight stability, but that's because it's a simpler aircraft, with a much simpler mission and intention than the superior and more versatile AH-64.

@Talshet Except for the fact that if you increase the collective to much, it will cut the KA-50 blades off, as in they will destroy each other. Recommended blade angle is 10-13 degree, any higher at higher speeds you risk aircraft failure.

i think the k-52 is the double seater version of the k-50. if so it would be bettter because the pilot could foucs on flying and the gunner could focus on shooting, wereas a single seating helicopter the pilot has to do everything by himself.

Sure, in terms of combat, the Apche might triumph, for its Longbow helps it detect targets at long range and enable fire and forget type combat, but the fact still remains that standard rotor systems incorporating a tail rotor have numerous problems over coaxial plus co-ax has a higher power:weight ratio, so the helicopter is more responsive.

Plus, you can put UPK-23-250 gunpacks on the wings. Each one of these has 250 rounds of 23 x115mm for a GSh-23L firing at about 60 rounds a minute. There are much wider array of selection when it comes to weapons. And man-power? This thing only needs 1 pilot. Apaches need 2 per aircraft. Sorry but you are swallowing US propaganda.

@FlyinBrian777 I know damn well the Ka 52 is a side by side 2 seater designed for training pilots to fly the single seater Ka-50, recon flights, jamming/EW/SIGINT, spotting/lasing/designating targets and other roles as well as attack. It's not being introduced now, it's already been around for awhile. When the Former Soviet Union designed the Ka-50, it needed a two-seat version to train pilots with. Originally, it was intended the Ka-50 would attack and the Ka-52's would designate targets.

We decided didn't buy their licance for upcreating then make better helicopter with italian Agusta Westland. I think K-50's are quite ugly design, too.If you look over cerefully front of helicopter look like mause face. Also, K-50's Armor are look tinplate.
Flying the helicopter and doing all the navigation and targeting puts a VERY HIGH workload on the pilot. That can be a real problem on a dense battlefield. Just see how the AH-64 or the Mi-28, both front-line close-support helicopters, have a pilot and a gunner.
The Ka-50 doesn't have fire-and-forget weapons. Its main anti-armor weapon is the Vikhr, wich is active laser-guided. That means that the launcher has to keep a line of sight with the target. If you can see him, he can see you.
The Ka-50 is not a front-line helicopter, but a spec-ops support helicopter. That's why it's a single seater, because it's intended to be flown by a spec-ops operative in a low-threat environment. The twin-seater Ka-52 also isn't a front line helo. Its intended role is to serve as a controller for the rest of the flight composed of a commanding Ka-52 plus some Ka-50s.

It also has a shitty weapons package and target acquisition system. Again, without a gunner, target acquisition while doing all of those fancy maneuvers is incredibly difficult. This chopper also has no pilot safety system in the event of a crash, not high enough to eject? Well, guess what, you're fucked. Also, KA-50 is not better armed, it's got MORE missiles yes, but the quality of those missiles is low. Also, why put bombs on a helicopter?
The Apaches top speed is 227 mph, the KA-50 can go 245, but only in a DIVE, that would make it go about 15% faster, meaning it would maybe match the Apaches speed. Im sorry, but the Apache is better armed, it carries up to 4 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, 38 2.75mm Hydra 70 rockets, and a 30mm M230 chain-gun which is turned wherever the pilot looks, it also has a better rate of fire. The Apache also has a much better rate of climb. If you want to have a debate over which craft is better, contact me!

It's a fine helicopter, it serves it's minor role as a special operations support gunship for daytime operations but suffers in the night time, it is dependent on the KA-52 for target acquisition, and cannot guide the missiles of friendly helicopters to maximize firepower while minimizing the number of exposed aircraft. It is NOT as advanced as the Apache, but is good for brawling with uncons.

If you want to list pylon mounted cannons as an option that fits in the tactical design of the AH-64 then you really have no understanding of the aircraft and need to do some additional homework on the intention of it's design.-

Again, you've fundamentally misunderstood the intention of the M230, and the Apache itself. A blind AH-64 can have it's missiles guided by another aircraft, or by ground forces, allowing the Ah-64 to remain behind cover, invisible to it's target.
The AH-64 carries it's own electronic warfare suite and the mast mounted radar allows the aircraft to detect, track, and target hostiles without exposure.

KA-50 has the risk of disintegrating it's own coaxial rotor array through high-g maneuvering.
KA-50 may have more armor, and the capability to lose it's tail with a reduced reduction in flight stability, but that's because it's a simpler aircraft, with a much simpler mission and intention than the superior and more versatile AH-64.

i think the k-52 is the double seater version of the k-50. if so it would be bettter because the pilot could foucs on flying and the gunner could focus on shooting, wereas a single seating helicopter the pilot has to do everything by himself.

@2142Unknown Yup since then I've learnt that it is a lot more manoeuverable than its American competition because of the coaxial rotor system it uses... Sure, in terms of combat, the Apche might triumph, for its Longbow helps it detect targets at long range and enable fire and forget type combat, but the fact still remains that standard rotor systems incorporating a tail rotor have numerous problems over coaxial plus co-ax has a higher power:weight ratio, so the helicopter is more responsive.

Plus, you can put UPK-23-250 gunpacks on the wings. Each one of these has 250 rounds of 23 x115mm for a GSh-23L firing at about 60 rounds a minute. There are much wider array of selection when it comes to weapons. And man-power? This thing only needs 1 pilot. Apaches need 2 per aircraft. Sorry but you are swallowing US propaganda.

@FlyinBrian777 I know damn well the Ka 52 is a side by side 2 seater designed for training pilots to fly the single seater Ka-50, recon flights, jamming/EW/SIGINT, spotting/lasing/designating targets and other roles as well as attack. It's not being introduced now, it's already been around for awhile. When the Former Soviet Union designed the Ka-50, it needed a two-seat version to train pilots with. Originally, it was intended the Ka-50 would attack and the Ka-52's would designate targets.

T-129 one of the best helicopter then apache longbow. Tutkish military are testing K-50 atact helicopter more than 2 years. It's not apposite the NATO standarts. We decided didn't buy their licance for upcreating then make better helicopter with italian Agusta Westland. I think K-50's are quite ugly design, too.If you look over cerefully front of helicopter look like mause face. Also, K-50's Armor are look tinplate.

Flying the helicopter and doing all the navigation and targeting puts a VERY HIGH workload on the pilot. That can be a real problem on a dense battlefield. Just see how the AH-64 or the Mi-28, both front-line close-support helicopters, have a pilot and a gunner.
The Ka-50 doesn't have fire-and-forget weapons. Its main anti-armor weapon is the Vikhr, wich is active laser-guided. That means that the launcher has to keep a line of sight with the target. If you can see him, he can see you.

The Ka-50 is not a front-line helicopter, but a spec-ops support helicopter. That's why it's a single seater, because it's intended to be flown by a spec-ops operative in a low-threat environment. The twin-seater Ka-52 also isn't a front line helo. Its intended role is to serve as a controller for the rest of the flight composed of a commanding Ka-52 plus some Ka-50s.

for those that want to see the ka50 and the ah64 fight they're both air to ground platforms, not a true test of abilities. and those of you that think this is a display of Russian "dominance"... yea, well last i checked the russians have maybe 25 of these. 15 ka50's and 10 ka52's. that is a typical battalion in the us army. the US has close to 700 apaches. and building more every day... you want a test of power? 700 apaches win hands down. russia will never be a dominant world power again.

It also has a shitty weapons package and target acquisition system. Again, without a gunner, target acquisition while doing all of those fancy maneuvers is incredibly difficult. This chopper also has no pilot safety system in the event of a crash, not high enough to eject? Well, guess what, you're fucked. Also, KA-50 is not better armed, it's got MORE missiles yes, but the quality of those missiles is low. Also, why put bombs on a helicopter?

The Apaches top speed is 227 mph, the KA-50 can go 245, but only in a DIVE, that would make it go about 15% faster, meaning it would maybe match the Apaches speed. Im sorry, but the Apache is better armed, it carries up to 4 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, 38 2.75mm Hydra 70 rockets, and a 30mm M230 chain-gun which is turned wherever the pilot looks, it also has a better rate of fire. The Apache also has a much better rate of climb. If you want to have a debate over which craft is better, contact me!
