@cisco2fun1 Diamond series, Hellraiser. Pretty solid, actually really so. I use a Soldano preset from my effects preamp in my digital 8-track. Just tweak the EQ a bit and add a bit of delay or whatever. I've gotten better tones from it but I didn't spend much on this one. Quick set-up and improv here. Thanx much!
@PGManiac Thanx a million sir. I've been away for a while and not online much. I still check in periodically and read your cool words. I really appreciate it and you have a great 2011, as well. ApB
@remoods Thank you very much for the kind comment. I will check out more of your channel, as well. I'm moving east in two days and may not be online for quite some time. Lots to prepare for major shows as well. I'm in transition and will be in touch once the dust settles. Hehe, all the best! apb
Friend, this is a killer tone! God... fat and killer! I like this, you know?! Did you recorded in line directly on your computer? What is that processor efects? Very good, really good. Thanks for this work of art. If possible, get a look at my modest videos. I greet you :-)
@rasocomercial Thanx much sir. My tones change a bit as I switch up recording environments, but I try to keep things pretty consistent. I usually use processor with Soldano and Matchless settings. This was done direct out of Line6 Flextone III combo. Andy James did the real work here, I just iced the cake a bit. Thank you! apb
@Jadguitare Thanx a million sir. I enjoyed your entry as well. You the demon face and I the wooly hat. Hehe, you have great chops sir. Very kind of you to visit, Cheers!
You need a "volume warning caption".. Your intense playing, combined with my bose speakers has rattled my entire pen collection off my desk.... (extra thought), Now that the great "Ronnie James Dio" has passed , maybe one would play a homage.. (Rainbow in the dark / Vivian Campbell style), perhaps ?
@ziggy72170 You're really cool man. I like you. Very funny! Yeah, perhaps I'll put up a caption sir. Lou wants to do something from Dio and I'm just getting over the long distance recording vibe. It's note easy collab'ing online. Kind of a mess really. When I chill back out from my other songs in the works now, I will seriously consider an homage to Dio. Lou Giannone can sing him very well. I would like to create a Dio'esque tune. I'm partner on YouTube, so vid's must be mine exclusively. ApB
@ziggy72170 BTW, This is not my backing track, as it's a contest that all of whom participated plays there version of solo to the same piece. This was not submitted for YouTube partnership revenue enablement. If I ever did do a cover or remake literally, I would then just not submit such for review. When folks do that? The vid' is removed. Ciao
@kgtbest Thanx much for the kind words. You're vastly improving, as well. That's what happens when you practice. Hehe, I liked this first taker enough to just keep it and post. I didn't plan anything, just pushed record, played the backing track ( after listening through it about 5 times ) and went for it. If I selected nice notes? Sheer luck! Lol, apb

Hehe, wow, thanx a bunch man. I don't feel special or that impressive, as I've expected to be much more advanced after 27 years playing. The fact is, I can co long periods of time without guitar at all and not really miss it. Life is plenty complex and creating a regular routine or sticking to a regimen has proven fail for me, thus far. In upcoming months I will be placing myself in a position with band/albums/performance live that will probably change a lot of that love/hate dynamic. Thanx much
Thanx a million, your channel sounds interesting. Very nice guitar stuff, as well. I'm glad you enjoyed my one taker. I appreciate kind words on my worx or attempts at such. Keep rockin sir, I'll be around there a bit more soon. ApB
Thanks Apb! I like very much your entry, it's a completely different approach, you improvised this without repeating anything! Great! Just like Bruce Lee, no fixed positions, eh eh! Good luck!
Hehe, thanx man. You really got me crackin' up here. That is a great reaction. You are top notch man, really. I have so much respect for you, so when you comment as such, it's very cool of you. Thanx for the wishes of luck. I'm already there bro'. I always like posting vid's like this and meeting new players. Mission accomplished! Cheers, apb
I can promise you that I will NOT win. I didn't enter to win, but more so to share and be a part of the collective. I'm not what they are looking for. I just like doing my own thing. I spent more time downloading the track, than I did in preparation. I just rolled the camera, set the Pro-Tools on record and went. I do appreciate your wonderful support in this though. It's very sweet of you. Thanx again, apb
I love listening to you, as well. This is a simple expression for me and not a lot of time spent, of course. This is a very linear, non thematic journey of notes. No structure, and just technical displays of muscle memory mixed with some vibe. If you think I'm an actual winner? That's fantastic and I accept this. Hehe, you're way kind. apb
Some great stuff here. At first I thought you could have a bit more distortion on your guitar but when you hit that run at about 47 it was really clean and showcased your impeccable technique. Great job man and good luck in the competition.
First off, I really liked your entry. Nice chops and biting tone. Great vibe, as I believe vibe or character to be first priority of a player. You have this and it's not common. Nice! Thanx much on the props with technique. Yeah, about my tone choices? Well, I prefer even less gain than this, as the sound of the actual instrument is then more apparent. I would have been buried in the backing mix, so I just fuzzed it up a notch or two, as to cut through. I wish you luck in this, as well. Thanx!
It's a gloss white Schecter Hellraiser ( Diamond Series ). A big bang for the buck. I like Caparison, Vigier, ESP, Ltd, Jackson, Fender etc., but this one just grabbed me one day at Guitar Center here. I liked the color, the inlays, the EMGs are coil tappable and it's just a beast in one's hands. It has a real girth to it, as it is neck through the body and the neck is thick, but not unfriendly to stretching. I'm using it at one tenth of it's potential with direct, processed recording for now..
I really dug your entry, as well. I am a firm believer in spirit playing, rather than just demonstrating monster arpeggios, and straight chops. A monkey can be trained to do such, but if one can feel the music, then the dynamic chops have a personality of their own. Your spirit was undeniable and your tremendous chops were just icing on that cake. I dig that a lot! L8
@aaronbergAPB Totally, most of the lines you played were not the run of the mill runs and arpeggios. I know what you mean about the dynamics to the chops, Totally cool. Thanks man.
I enjoy seeing all kinds of players and I like the diversity. I'm the player that I am, you are the player that you are and all are the players they are. I am consistently impressed with other cats here. This is NO competition, as like snowflakes, no two players are the same. Take care sir and thanx much! L8
Your playing is fantastic. I'd remembered you from Soundtrack of Summer, I believe. Actually, I've randomly hit many of your vid's, as certain players are just linked or tagged here on YouTube, and ya'll are the kind of players that I have my eyes & ears on. I do a ton of investigating players and I love seeing the diversity of styles in seemingly similar genres. I really don't like the term genre though. It represents a label and one cannot completely label anything artistic. Thanx much! apb
Coming from an incredible player as yourself, this has much meaning to me. This was a plug in an go. I listened to the track twice, set up Pro-Tools for a mix and just played through, first take. No working out details, just letting my ear and my muscle memory to run wild. Thanx much man, it is what it is. I'm not accustomed to doing things in this matter, but what the hay. It's damn contest, not an album. Lol, apb
I have the best luthier in town. He's 50 bucks per axe and when I get them from him, they play themselves practically. I haven't visited him in three years. Time to drop them off for a couple of days, cause when I get them back they play insanely smooth. Supposed to do this every six months, but I procrastinate much. Cheers to the blisters and pain, apb
Blistering by definition. The action on this guitar is in desperate need of a set up. Been putting it off and it's like driving a semi through the desert. Thanx for taking the time to cmment and for it to be quite pleasant is refreshing. Cheers, apb
hey man, hope your doing great.! KILLER job smoking over this backing track....ya some Lynch, but not really, its all you man, really nice stuff, continue APB!
This was really off the cuff man. It was a very humbling experiment. I love the fact that I can just see all of the reliant, tried and true muscle memory stuff just overpowering my melodic sense here. I think the key will be to get further from the techniques and more into chordal/modal/wider intervallic application. I will widen my scope of understanding, the chops will grow into that. Thanx a million, you're a stellar player. L8'er
Hard Jazz? Hehe, I like that. I may have a future in that genre. Lol, If you can get anything from watching my stuff, then I have served my purpose. You are improving roodbrood, you rock the mayhem like nobody rocks the mayhem. Thank you for the timely response sir. apb
I'm a very theme working and rock style player. One that works out the solos and spends time hashing things out BEFORE it goes to tape. Not on this one and by no means am I really as adept at improvisation, as some I've been following on this medium. It's a rebirthing for me and the sky is no limit. I have strings, I'm just thinking of playing and not tech'ing so much lately. Hehehe, Thank you!!!!!!!!!! L8
Sweet solo aaron, kinda sounds like mr lynch, what kind of amp are you using? Ya know when someone gives you a complement like the one I gave you that's something to think about, keep rockin dude!
I appreciate that my friend. I know exactly, the magnitude of the compliment. I sent this to him on myspace. He sends me a message here and there. I just used my Line6 Flextone III on this one ( direct out ). It has a Soldano type setting and I just keep it there. I may be getting the real deal, for playing shows etc. Expensive amps, but it's Soldano. Thanx for the compliment, again. I'm tryin' here sir! apb
Thanx much Laurie. I still have to get this guitar set up! Very hard to play, old strings, and bad action. I've been playing more, indeed. I have a mentor in mind and I will progress with time. Perhaps one day I'll have a tech again. I'll just worry about the playin' then. Hehe, apb
I hear you BIGTIME. Much work will be done, so as I can then improvise with a lot more color. I tend to just blow through all the muscle memory chops back to back. It's pretty ridiculous actually. Thanx Gotty
Thanx much sir. I saw your jam on this. Just insane stuff. I like being taken to school and watching guys with more advanced intelligence. I need to practice a routine and pay attention to certain things for alloted times.
I went for a different modal approach in the beginning and the end. I enjoy eastern and different note choices at times. Thanx a million sir. I really appreciate your opinions on things.
This is very tangent playing for me. I like to rehearse and work out themes, but for a contest? Nah, I'll save my energy for an album. Hehe, Thanx!!!
Het, you are near and dear here bro'. After your comment, I'm speechless. Cannot wait to hear more about the collab'. I did a heck of a backing vocal on that one. Hehe, thanx a trillion.
@PDXguitarfreak71 Sweetness bro', means much comin' from you. We love to play and sometimes it feels right. This was a first taker. No plan, just jam. Completely linear, no theme, just a journey off the cuff here. I could have planned some more interesting stuff after seeing some cats already, but what the hay. Thank you! High repect!!!!! apb
I should be touring within the year '10. I'm putting together a project out east soon. Female singer, ala Journey/Heart but more modern applications. Lots of heavy guitars! Some solos would be nice. Don't hear those in mainstream music much anymore. I wish to change that. I truly am humbled by your comment. There's no God here, just a guy that likes to create. Cheers, apb
I had fun wingin' it here. My hands just spaz out sometimes. It gives me a split second more to figure out where in the heck I'm goin' next. Thanx much buddy! apb
I am back in action sir, indeed. I haven't used my HD Sony cam' for a while and a can't say I've been playin' much either. Doing some Spring cleaning on these items and a backing track is a quick fix. Hehe, Thanx much! apb
Hello Jaque S. This was a bit of a challenge. It took the longest amount of time just to download the track. Once I got it, I set up and just tracked it. Much thanx, apb

Ya know when someone gives you a complement like the one I gave you that's something to think about, keep rockin dude!
speedjunkie66 1 year ago
I appreciate that my friend. I know exactly, the magnitude of the compliment. I sent this to him on myspace. He sends me a message here and there. I just used my Line6 Flextone III on this one ( direct out ). It has a Soldano type setting and I just keep it there. I may be getting the real deal, for playing shows etc. Expensive amps, but it's Soldano. Thanx for the compliment, again. I'm tryin' here sir! apb

cool apb... been out flying kites... you've been in wood shedding buddy. Nice job!

My god, Aaron... the speed, and feel at which you play is just always jaw-dropping. I particularly loved those finger-tapped runs - so smooth.

Cheers, apb
